That is assuming it is a driver problem but from what I found in google all signs point to a driver clash. Hi, 1. Is the issue specific to a disk? 2. Do you get any error message/code when the computer locks up? 3. What is the make and model of the computer? 4. Which application are you using to erase the contents from the disk? This issue may occur if the DVD/CD-ROM drivers are corrupted. I would suggest you to update the drivers for the DVD/CD-ROM drive from the device manager and check: Steps: a. Click on the Start button and then choose Control Panel. b. Click on the System and Security link. Note: If you're viewing the Large icons or Small icons view of Control Panel, you won't see this link. Simply click on Device Manager. c. In the System and Security window, click on the Device Manager link located under the System heading. d. Double click on DVD/CD-ROM drive. e. Right click on the drive listed and select Update Driver Software. f. Follow the on-screen instructions and restart the computer after the drivers are installed. Hope this resolves the issue. If the issue persists, you can
