Microsoft Fake Techscam I Need Serious Help
I have been scammed badly by the your pc is infected phone call and allowed them remote access they have ruined my new laptop I have been trying to fix it or even install a single update or any security on it. They have completely took over my pc, shadow copies, deleted all security settings, cut off any chance of a system restore point, changed or deleted parts of my registry, I believe I have keypad logger on pc, install a fake $AVG security program, allowed numerous programs (all suspicious and I never allowed them ) deleted my C://Drive, changed location and settings where windows updates are stored and downloaded to, lots of remote logon, anonymous logons allowed, taken all administrator rights=I am hardly allowed to do anything on my own pc, installed various documents/files settings all over the place- especially OneDrive and deleted all file history-can't turn it on as done something to my C Drive, deleted settings etc, have lots of scary sounding and strange files on laptop li
Sorry to hear you were scammed - these phone calls from fake tech support entities have been well publicized and it's surprising you had not heard of the scam. But you are not the only person victimized by these scoundrels and it's still occurring today. http://www.microsoft.com/security/online-privacy/avoid-phone-scams.aspx http://askleo.com/i_got_a_call_from_microsoft_and_allowed_them_access_to_my_computer_what_do_i_do_now/?awt_l=Bg3x_&awt_m=JK7z9_UOFJdfbL https://blog.malwarebytes.org/tech-support-scams/ Fake Tech Support Scams – MS Digital Crimes Unit https://youtu.be/tuTAA5Kj3Kk If you've had these problems for four months you need to reset the computer. Back up your data and remember this will return your computer to the same state as when it was purchased - you will lose all programs you installed. You might get by with a refresh but I recommend a reset. See http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/restore-refresh-reset-pc Alternatively you may wish to take your computer
Is Taskkill.exe a virus?
Hi. I recently noticed a file while using a DLL Injector known as "taskkill.exe". I googled it, as it sounds kind of dangerous, and many people are saying it's a legitimate file, but it's malware..? I'm unsure what one it is. The file location is SysWOW64. I would like to know if this is safe or if it is a dangerous virus. I have experimented with closing task manager/opening it, but it seems to be at random moments. Help would be appreciated. Edit: Removed that DLLInjector, how could I check if taskkill.exe is running now?
Hi Evan, Taskkill.exe is a type of an executable file developed by Microsoft for Windows Operating System. This has the function to end one or more task or processes and you shouldn't be worried about it. For further details, about Taskkill, kindly refer to this link . Hope this helps and if you have other questions, don't hesitate to ask. Regards.
After several days of programs not working on my computer due to .dll problems such as: C:\Windows\system32\wbem\wbemdisp.dill C:\Windows\system32\wbem\wmiutils.dill taskkill.exe-bad image C:\Windows\system\inetcpl.cpl is not a valid Win32 application. Now half the files and folders on my computer show up in What appears to be Chinese. Also The top of my documents folder, when opened shows a scroll down of Chinese commands rather than the usual displays for selecting folder options. Any info appreciated. Update: Lost may files. I had PCmatic anti-virus, windows defender and another mal ware screens operating. I landed up having to buy a new computer. Geek squad at Best Buy looked at it as did another computer repair service and nothing could be done as more and more of the operating system converted to Chinese. Both said they never ran into this before. Virus appears to have come in piggy backed on a windows update for Vista or an nvideo update both of which happened the same day
How to stop Taskkill.exe command appearing on startup
How do I prevent the notice "Taskkill.exe" appearing on startup?
Hi caerurfaernest, Have you made any recent changes on the computer? What is the exact error message you receive at startup? Do you have any security software installed on the computer? Description of Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 System File Checker (Sfc.exe) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310747
Cannot fix taskkill.exe error
I created a shortcut that execute this Command Prompt command: taskkill.exe /F /IM uTorrent.exe and i have Autohotkey script that opens this shortcut this way: Run C:\Documents and Settings\peter\Desktop\taskkill.lnk The command is executed on Windows shutdown from another autohotkey script, but when i shutdown Windows i receive this error for taskkill.exe: "Application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142). Click on OK to terminate the application" If i run the command - taskkill.exe /F /IM uTorrent.exe directly from command prompt it works fine and terminate the process utorrent.exe. But when i use it with autohotkey script it gives me the same taskkill.exe error every time when i shutdown Windows. Why it gives me this error and how can i fix it? I am using Windwos XP Pro SP3. This is the Autohotkey script that i am using which is executed on windows shutdown and it tells windows to execute first the commands in the script before anything else: #SingleInstance, force #Persisten
Emil, I would have you post here for a better exposure- http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/home?category=scripting Do let us know if you have any questions about Windows.
Try the command in a batch file instead of a shortcut.
I tried with batch file and i am getting the same error but now it is for cmd.exe. I wrote this lines in the batch file: @echo off taskkill.exe /F /IM uTorrent.exe @echo off
Hi when ever I login to standard account, taskkill.exe will popup asking for password. I tried looking for in task scheduler, but could not find it. How do you stop taskkill.exe from starting?
The last program that I install before this problem started was Windows 10. Taskkill.exe is a Windows program. Taskill.exe is trying to delete from the task schedule.
The windows service that is causing the problem is the "workstation" is calling taskkillexe. When it is disable the taskkill.exe does not appear on login.
My son receives a popup whenever he plays a game.
So for a while now, my son has been receiving taskkill.exe errors whenever he plays a game, such as Minecraft or Roblox. The error says "The application was unable to start correctly. Press OK to restart the application." We press the OK button, and it simply appears a while later. This really impacts his games, and I just want to know if it is the computer hardware or software.
Taskkill.exe is a utility used to force-close another program. For example if you opened a command prompt and typed "taskkill.exe /im chrome.exe" it would close Google Chrome. So it seems something is trying to run the taskkill command. What it is trying to close, is unclear. That's not normal for Minecraft to do that, for sure. Next time it appears, please do this: Keep the dialog open (don't click OK) Press Ctrl+Shift+Escape to open Task Manager Right-click the column headings at the top (CPU, Disk, etc) and choose "Command Line" Find that dialog in the list of open items, and see what the full command line is of it, so we can see what it's trying to do. For example, this area is what we're looking to find out (except that dialog's command line):
Yes, it is an Acer computer, and I will attempt to uninstall it. I will get back to you in one or two days to tell you if it worked. Thank you for your help. :)
Hi, It popped up again, and I did what you said to. Sorry that the image is very low quality. Not used to using Microsoft Paint.
Perfect, that shows what I was hoping to see. This shows that something (perhaps the game?) has requested that taskill to shut down the "abDocsDLLLoader.exe" program. Looking online, I see that the program being requested to end is from Acer, and is part of the "Acer BYOC Apps" programs. To confirm, do you have an Acer computer? http://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/byoc-consumer If you don't use this Acer program, you might even benefit from simply uninstalling it, or perhaps just pressing Ctrl+Shift+Escape and disabling it on the "startup" tab of Task Manager.
Windows 10 - Microsoft Windows causes grey screen?
I upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1 last night. This afternoon while I was off doing something else, the screen display on my Acer desktop shut off as I've set it to do. Normally when I return I need to double click my mouse - 1 click to wake my mouse up and a second click to turn my monitor back on. This afternoon when I tried to do this, it didn't work. I turned my monitor off and back on again and it said no signal received. My machine was on but there was no display. I continued to try clicking, hitting keys, pressing escape and the Windows button but nothing worked. Eventually when I was clicking there was a strange beeping sound when I clicked, so I had no choice but to perform a hard reset (holding down power button until the system shuts off). When I restarted the machine, Windows configured updates and I was eventually able to log back in. About ten minutes ago while using the computer, a task came up in the taskbar. It said "Microsoft Windows" and had a yellow triangle

I am trying to install a Video Grabber on my XP system to transfer home movies from video to DVDs for my grandchildren but when trying to install the Driver part of the package get the message "This will install AF9035HB BDA Driver - 10.4.26.1 WHQL on your computer" and then when I click the Next button get the message that it cannot find `H:\WINDOWS\system32\taskkill.exe' I have also attempted to get into the Power Director element of the installation but get the message "Power Director can only run under 10244768 High Colour (16 bit) resolution or higher". My computer is now 5 years old. Is this the problem? I am a bit of a notice but am trying hard and this has me baffled. Any advice would be appreciated
Hi, 1. Did you make any changes to the computer recently? Method 1. I would ask you to copy this taskkill.exe file from another computer to your computer. Browse to the location C:\WINDOWS\system32\taskkill.exe and copy this file to your computer and check. Note: "C:" is referred to the partition where the operating system is installed. Method 2. Also you can set the computer to clean startup and then try installing the application and check. How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" state http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310353/en-us Note: After you have finished troubleshooting, follow the steps as explained in the article to reset the computer to start as usual.
