"Hotfix" Firewire scanner to 64-bit Win 7 for VueScan software?
My "old" Nikon 9000 Coolscan scanner worked with Vista and was supported. Moving to new Windows 7 computer, I found Nikon is no longer supporting the scanner and VueScan software is an alternative. (Nikon scanner also has Firewire connection for which I have connected with a Firewire to USB adapter). VueScan is installed, but doesn't recognize the connected scanner (which, per instruction, is "on".) In VueScan's "Release Notes", they refer to a hotfix from Microsoft to fix a bug in the scsiscan.sys driver at: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922498 . Unfortunately, this solution applies only to 64-bit XP and Vista, not 7! A search of the next link to Windows 7 problems didn't locate anything more. Hope you can help, I'd really like to get these working together! Thank you, Betty
Hello Betty, Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community forum. I would appreciate if you can provide us the following information to help us understand the issue better. Does this new computer with Windows 7 have the drivers for your Nikon 9000 Coolscan Scanner ? Is it showing under Devices and Printers list ? Do you have tried the hotfix provided in the KB article which you've mentioned in your post? If yes, were you able to fix the issue or got any error message in the process? If Nikon 9000 Coolscan scanner is not working on your Windows 7 computer the reason behind that might be the drivers. So I would suggest you to update the drivers and check if it helps.
