Cannot delete pcaui.exe and I don't want to buy a malware product!
I'm pretty confident this is not a bad thing and infact part of Windows 7 or Vista (not sure but would bet Win. 8 too) The description: "Program Compatibility Assistant User Interface" Stored in: C:\Windows\System32 Microsoft made major security changes to the low level OS architecture from Windows Vista onwards and some old programs fail to run. This is an assistant that, with your permission can emulate earlier OS’s. More INFO: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/bb756937.aspx Hope this helps not hinders :-)
Probably not malware but Please download the free version of Malwarebytes. Update it immediately. Do a full system scan Let us know the results at the end. http://www.malwarebytes.org/products

Is this is "bug or problem" on your computer or on this site? [This forum pertains to the latter.] You will find support for Surface Pro in these forums => http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/forum/surfpro
I've moved your thread to Windows [8.1] Recovery/Repair Forum When you upgraded to Windows 8.1... OT @Smittychat => Note that OP posted about a Surface Pro computer and made no mention of "Windows 8.1."
There's no Repair/Recovery option in Surface Forum. I thought it would be better to place it here.
I know. Maybe Surface computers aren't supposed to break?
Hi, I've moved your thread to Windows Recovery/Repair Forum When you upgraded to Windows 8.1 did you create a recovery USB? Note If your PC came with Windows 8 and you upgraded it to Windows 8.1 , your recovery drive will include Windows 8 , and you’ll need to upgrade to Windows 8.1 after you refresh or reset your PC. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/create-usb-recovery-drive When booting into Safe Mode did you try Rebooting and pressing Shift + F8? It may take several attempts for this to work. http://www.howtogeek.com/107511/how-to-boot-into-safe-mode-on-windows-8-the-easy-way/ Or, Press n Hold Shift > Click on Reboot to enter Safe Mode http://blog.doohelp.com/5-easy-ways-to-enter-safe-mode-in-windows-8/
