Audiodg.exe appcrash ntdll.dll
Hi In my new HP laptop, with fresh windows 8, sometimes when Im using sound (eg. listening music in media player and using skype ou browser), sometimes the sound stops, and when I check, the audiodg.exe closes. Checking in event viewer, I found 2 event logs. The sound drivers is updated and windows too. I downgraded the audio drivers too, but without success. And yes, I see "Andrea Electronics" when I access microphone improovements. I see Andrea logomark, and two checked options: improve voice and echo cancelation. Is impossible to use skype, etc, without echo cancelation option. It is possible the Andrea software may be causing the issue, it appears to be loading a couple of modules during the crash (AERTAC64.dll, AERTAR64.dll). Are you able to obtain an update for the Andrea software or, at least, uninstall and reinstall the current version? What is the name of Andrea software you are using, is it the following?: http://www.andreaelectronics.com/audiocommander.html Also, can you obtain the following two files (bolded)?: C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\ WERDF30.tmp.secure.hdmp C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\ WERE24F.tmp.secure.dmp
Daniel, Try these steps and see if it fixes the issue. a. Click Start, type services.msc and press Enter. b. Double-click " Windows Audio " service. c. Click the Log On tab. d. Hi Daniel, Sorry for the late response. "audiodg.exe" is a part of Windows. System services like audio drivers run in different and isolated login session from the locally logged-in user in Windows. This ensures that content and plug-ins cannot be modified by other applications (e.g. by spyware). Note: The audiodg.exe file is located in the folder C:\Windows\System32. Let’s try these methods and check if it helps. Method 1: Place the computer in a clean boot state and check if there are any software conflicts. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 Note: To reset the computer to normal mode after troubleshooting, please refer to “ How to reset the computer to start as usual” from the above article. Method 2: Run a system file checker scan and check. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833 To ensure your computer is free from virus and malware, you may run an online scan. http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx Note: Any data files that are infected may only be clean

I have a similar problem with a 32-bit Windows application I am developing in C++ using MSVC 2008 Express. The app runs RELIABLY when I'm running it through the debugger, but I RANDOMLY get the APPCRASH with exception code c0000005 when running the app in Release mode under Windows 7 (64-bit) after opening and then connecting to a USB serial port dongle. The crash comes when I start actively receiving data from the prototype hardware device I'm supporting. Obviously, my code could have an uninitialized (pointer) variable (in release mode) or whatever, but there is little difference in the code except which libraries (DEBUG or NDEBUG versions) that are linked in. After searching on the Internet, I have noted that this seems to be a very common problem (games, Skype, .... and even Microsoft apps like Explorer and Outlook). There have been many varied suggested solutions, such as fixing Registry problems. I have used a Registry cleaner to no avail (other than correcting a lot of unre

Hi, Desktop Window Manager is the window manager in Windows Vista and Windows 7 that enables the Windows Aero graphical user interface and visual theme. I'm sorry that I mentioned only Windows 7. You can try the above mentioned steps in Windows Vista also. You can check in safe mode if the error occurs. If not, disable the Display drivers from Device manger and try to login normal mode and check. If the error doesn’t occur, you can uninstall and reinstall the Display drivers and check. Step 1: Uninstall drivers from Device manager. a. Click Start and type devmgmt.msc, and then Enter. The Device Manager window opens. b. Expand Display adapter and c. Right click on the device and select Uninstall. After uninstalling drivers from device manager you have to also uninstall the device drivers from programs and features so that it uninstalls the software completely from the computer. Step 2: Uninstall drivers form Programs and features. a. Click start b. Type appwiz.cpl in Start Search c. Sea
Thanks for your reply. I have yet to carry out the two steps you suggest, as I note you refer to MS Windows 7. My MS version is Vista, so does this make a difference to the advice given. I have checked for a driver update in device manager for my display adapter and it tells me its upto date. Thanks
Hi, You can try the following steps and check if it helps: Step 1: You can verify the status of Desktop Window Manager Session Manager Service a. Click the "Start" Button, in "Start Search" box, type "services.msc" (without quotes) and press Enter. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. b. Double click the service "Desktop Window Manager Session Manager". c. Click on the "General" tab; make sure the "Startup Type" is "Automatic". d. Click Apply and Ok. Step 2: You can also try to run a SFC scan to check for any corrupted files. You may refer the following KB article to run the SFC scan: How to use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or on Windows 7 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833 Hope this information is helpful.
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I have been on holiday and only just got back. I have followed both steps above and run the fixit for windows Aero and are still getting the apcrash messages. Have you got any other suggestions. Thanks
Hi, The dwm.exe is a Desktop Window Manager and is responsible for the graphical effects in Microsoft Windows 7. This issue may occur if Graphics Card driver is not up to date. Step 1: You can check if the issue occurs in Safe mode. Hi Auroken, Sorry for the delay in response. As the issue is related to terracopy, I would suggest you to post the query in Terracopy support for further assistance. Terracopy support Reply if you have any issues with Windows and we will be glad to assist.
l eventually downgraded to 2.27, at the second it hasnt happened again. however the main reason l asked was because of the faulting module rather than the program.
Hi, I am glad that the issue didn't occur after the downgrade. Ntdll.dll is mostly concerned with system tasks and it includes a number of kernel-mode functions which enables the "Windows Application Programming Interface (API)". The ntdll.dll is also responsible for messages, timing, threading and synchronization in the operating system. Since you don't have any issues, I would not worry about the dll file. Reply if you have any queries with Windows.
appreciate the info, my assumptions were somewhat correct then so its good to know a little about the file. its kinda annoying dealing with problems l havent received before as l like to know what lm dealing with :p

Hello Boston Buster, I am merging both the threads to avoid duplicate threads. From the error message it indicates that the ‘Compaq Message Server’ is running on the startup that is causing this issue. You can disable this service from the System Configuration Utility. You should start with setting your computer to clean boot. You can follow the below steps to set the computer to clean boot. a. Click Start, select run type msconfig in the Run dialog box, and then press ENTER. b. On the General tab, click Selective Startup. c. Under Selective Startup, click to clear the Load Startup Items check box. d. Click the Services tab, click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable All. e. Hello, As per the description I understand that your Windows Media Player crashes with an error exception code: 0xc0000374 on your Windows 7 computer. This issue might be occurring due to inconsistency in the System files or installed programs. I apologize for the inconvenience caused to you. I will certainly help you with this issue. Please provide few more details so that we can understand the issue better: 3. After registering DLL files restart the computer and check if the issue is resolved. Hope the information helps. Let us know if you need further assistance with Windows related issues, we’ll be glad to assist you.
I care barely spell media player but if other media players are also crashing (the only one I've ever heard of is VLC) then I was thinking maybe somehow you got hold of a bad codec that is used by them all and I'm not sure how to start troubleshooting that (except guessing). Maybe you can remember installing some new codec recently. I think there is a way to debug media player crashes but I don't know how to do that either. I seriously doubt there is a problem with the ntdll.dll since it is a fundamental core system file and if it was afflicted many other things would not work. I read that many folks like the VLC player better than the Windows built in one and if you have not looked at it you can get it here: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html If you have VLC now or if you install it (just to see if you like it) and if it also crashes they have a support page and community where they may be able to help you troubleshoot the VLC player and when you get that working perhaps the Wind
No - that is not the reason for the error related to ntdll.dll. Those are just more wild goose chase ideas. The reason is that it is impossible to register ntdll.dll because it is not a registrable file. Does it work on your system? The answer is no. I don't know why whenever there is an error message that includes ntdll.dll the Microsoft engaged Support Engineer "experts" suggest registering the file and then when it fails (which is always) the "experts" suggest all kinds of other things to try to get it to work and it will never work. Why don't you try to register ntdll.dll on your own system and see what happens? To see why registering ntdll.dll will never work read my reply from May 18th in this topic: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-performance/entry-point-procedure-could-not-be-located-in/377cd36c-fa30-436c-9238-3a1640ef31ae

Hi, We are sorry for delay in response. The error related to 'ntdll.dll' may occur due to the following reasons: Corrupt Windows user profile http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Fix-a-corrupted-user-profile Non-Microsoft application / service conflicting with Word. If the issue persist, restart computer in Clean boot following the steps from the KB below and check if you are able to work with Word. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 Note: Ensure you restart the computer in normal mode after troubleshooting. If issue still persist then I would suggest you to disable and enable Windows media player Under Media features from Windows features turn on or off and check. Here is the link which says how to go to Windows features screen and how to enable or disable an application. Turn Windows features on or off http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/turn-windows-features-on-off Hope it helps. For any further queries feel free to get back to us.
Maybe there is something wrong with ntdll.dll but at least you know it doesn't need to be registered. In the VLC community with Windows there are 120 topics about crashing with ntdll.dll somewhere in the topic. I think I would start a new topic out there.
ntdll.dll crashing Office 2013
Seeing the following error out of the blue with Office 2013 (Outlook, Word, Excel - all produce same error). Application will not stay loaded for more than 30 seconds. I am having the same error pointing to ntdll.dll when opening xlsx files on Excel, no problem with opening old xls files. Did anyone figure out what's the problem here?
I had the same problem and kept on replacing the normal.dotm file. But this did not fix the problem. However after performing the solution you indicated, fixed the problem. renamed: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common changing Common to Common_BAD restarted word, and answer no thanks for some settings (didn't give much information). I opened word several times, so far it did not crash. Thanks all!
Do you have a language pack installed? For a user in France setting the Office language back to English allows Lync starting up.
I can confirm this is indeed a corrupt profile. I can locate several articles on line copying my corrupt profile to a new profile. However, upon creating a local admin account on this machine, I cannot log onto it locally as I'm receiving a message "User Profile Service failed the login." Very close to giving up on Microsoft and Windows 8.
Hi, The error related to ntdll.dll may occur due to the following reasons: · Corrupt Windows user profile · Non-Microsoft application / service conflicting with the Office application Enable Clean-boot using the steps given here and then open the Office applications to verify the status. Clean Boot helps to eliminate the software conflicts. Note: once the troubleshooting is done, enable Normal Start-up. If the issue still persists, you may also create a new Windows User Account / profile and verify the results. Refer the following link for more information: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows-8/create-user-account Let us know the results to help you better.
What I have done: open registry find Under HKEY_USERS\...\Software\Microsoft\Office\
How can I test to determine if my user profile is corrupt? Note, I am working in a domain environment. Attempted the clean boot procedure outlines above, disabling items in MSCONFIG as per the support article. Outlook continues to crash and keeps pointing to the ntdll.dll.
I tried a number of things, including what you suggested, as the problem persisted. However, I was able to finally solve it: From the Programs and Features page, highlight "Microsoft Office 365" (or whatever version you have), then click " Change ". From there is the option to repair. Select "Repair on-line". It will take about 10~15 minutes or so to complete. I've found that since performing this repair, Office programs such as Excel and Word are not crashing on module ntdll.dll. ***EDIT : This "repair" is apparently not complete. It has just reduced the occurrences of the crashes, but not eliminated them. I think I'll have to go the route of renaming registry entries. ***EDIT 2 : This registry tweak is temporary. The problem resurfaced after another Windows Update (they happen frequently these days). I still have yet to find an effective resolution.
What I have done: open registry find Under HKEY_USERS\...\Software\Microsoft\Office\

Within the last few months ntdll.dll causes IE11 to crash at least once daily. I have scoured the internet and tried various options that I have read about with no success. Which of the items above resolved the problem? Did you try IE after each action taken or did you perform all the steps and then it worked?
I tired what you mentioned above as well as reinstalling the drivers and haven't had the issue since. Thanks!

I have successfully merged the registry file into the registry. I will reply once again when explorer.exe crashes and provide the dump log via SkyDrive.
The faulting module (ntdll.dll) is a component of Windows however another, possibly third party, module may actually be causing the crash. I would recommend to try to capture a user-mode dump of the explorer.exe crash to get more information on the crash and to see if the cause of the crash can be pinpointed. You can configure Windows to create user-mode dumps. Create a System Restore Point first. If you copy and paste the following in Notepad and save as a .reg file, then right-click the .reg file and select "Merge" to add to the registry, a .dmp file at the time explorer.exe crashes should be created in the C:\CrashDumps folder: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps\explorer.exe] "DumpFolder"=hex(2):43,00,3a,00,5c,00,43,00,72,00,61,00,73,00,68,00,44,00,75,\ 00,6d,00,70,00,73,00,00,00 After Explorer (explorer.exe) crashes, can you then make the .dmp file available (provide link) via Windows Live SkyDrive
Alright. Explorer finally crashed on me again. It seems to happen when I open any explorer window with the sidebar (the pane that shows the Favorite folders and drives under computer) in it. The odd thing is, it doesn't happen all the time. Only every now and again, and usually after my computer has been in hibernation a few times. Linked is the most recent dump from before I restarted today, which seemed to remedy the issue. http://sdrv.ms/1dEgl2K

Windows Vista ntdll.dll Issues
A large number of programs are crashing on my Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2 64 bit install. They began after installing all updates from August patch Tuesday. Crashing programs include Steam, all .exe games that I have tried, Windows Explorer in some instances (such as properties of My Computer), DriverMax, and sometimes even Java. Games that crash include World of Tanks and Planetside 2; most of my other games are indie games that the general poster would be unaware of. I have used AVG Free 2013 and Malwarebytes to see if malware may have caused this but have yet to find any. At the time of the update Spybot with its Resident Protection was running. To the best of my knowledge I haven't used any other antivirus programs on this install. The updates that I suspect are http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2859537/en-us and http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2585542 . I suspect the first as ntdll.dll is a root cause of most of the app crashes, and I believe that update modified
Restart your computer. The ntdll.dll error you're receiving could be due to a one-time, temporary issue and a simple reboot may resolve the problem completely. Reinstall the program if the ntdll.dll error only displays when you use a specific program. If the software program has any updates or service packs perform a new installation of Windows .

Thanks for getting back, Joseph. Basically, if you are using Windows Update to get the driver updates, then yes, it will download the recommended drivers that are found on the server and just install it the next time you restart your PC. However, it is also ideal to visit the manufacturer's website to get the brand-updated drivers. With regard to external USB hub, the constantly disconnecting or reconnecting behavior can be addressed by updating the drivers. In case the issue remained after the drivers are updated, then you will have to consult a local computer tech or the manufacturer to check the USB ports condition. Going back to the ntdll.dll error, can you give us a screenshot of the page containing the exact error code related to this system file? Looking forward to your reply. Regards.
Well I would love to but now my event viewer is spammed with " The description for Event ID 0 from source SynTPEnhService cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer. If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event. The following information was included with the event: SynTPEnhService Enh Exit with Exit Code: 0x00000000, ReLanuch Enh for Session:1 " after updating my touchpad.. I'd undo it but it was a manual update.. I'm going to be making another post regarding this but if you have any ideas please share. F.W.I My touchpad and everything else works perfectly fine but it's spamming my event viewer every 5 seconds! also I forgot, how do I make the code above in blue?
Hi Joseph, As much as we would like to help you with your concern, this kind of issue is more complex than what is normally posted here in Community. We suggest that you post your query in our TechNet Forum for further assistance. If we can help you with anything else, feel free to contact us.
Okay so sadly I was completely wrong about the problem/solution, The outdated graphics card was a bad thing but actually not the problem. I have been using a custom theme so I figured that was the problem so I undid everything, I reverted the the files using this program which I used to "patch" them from the start. Then I reverted back to the normal windows 7 theme and restarted. At times the photo viewer(DLLhost.exe in event viewer) would work and not the system properties and so on, its either one would work and the other wouldn't or none at all. Point being this didn't do anything but maybe i'm missing something? Either that or that's just simply not the problem.. Here is a picture of the photo viewer not working(DLLhost.exe) Here is a picture of the system properties not working(Shows up as explorer.exe)
Hi Joseph, Looks like having an outdated graphics driver has triggered the problem that you've encountered right now. In order to address this it, we suggest that you uninstall and reinstall the graphics driver. Just open Device Manager, right-click your graphics card, and click Uninstall. Restart your computer so Windows will be able to reinstall the driver. In case doing the above steps won't help, then please visit the device manufacturer's website and download the latest drivers for your device. You may check out this link for more information. Let us know if you need further help. Regards.
Is that forum as responsive as this one?
I clicked the link just to see what is was and I should've mentioned in the question I'm using a Windows 7 64-bit laptop. I have been recently installing various updates including graphics updates so I'll see if that works first but you said I have to uninstall and reinstall my graphics driver, Theoretically I did that wouldn't my pc make like a backup of the driver and then just install that next time I restart? Or does it literally look online to find the latest graphics driver for my pc and download that? Also this is somewhat unrelated but would any of these issues have anything to do with my external USB hub constantly disconnecting and reconnecting? I only have one functional USB so I have a hub on connecting my wifi adapter and my mouse so you could probably tell how irritating that is. The event viewer doesn't give much help by the way nor does it say anything about the ntdll.dll.
Where are the debugging symbols for ntdll.dll 10.0.14393.447?
I applied a Windows Update the other day, and I don't seem to be able to get the symbols for the ntdll.dll on my machine, which makes debugging rather difficult. Windbg output describing my local ntdll.dll follows: Loaded symbol image file: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll Image path: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll Image name: ntdll.dll [...] Timestamp: Wed Nov 02 23:13:06 2016 (5819BC32) CheckSum: 001DA569 ImageSize: 001D1000 [...] FileVersion: 10.0.14393.447 (rs1_release_inmarket.161102-0100) I have confirmed I can pull other symbols from the symbol server, i.e. user32.dll version 10.0.14393.351. Have these symbols not made it to the symbol server? Thanks, Ty
I still get this as of 2016-11-24. I try to open a 32-bit dump file created on another machine.
I'll close this off. As of 21/11/16, the symbols seem to have been posted.
Several symbols from.433 have not yet been posted.
ntdll.dll causing an issue
I purchase Shogun 2 recently installed it and it doesn't boot. I checked my event viewer and it says fault module ntdll.dll. I see it is created by the microsoft corporation so I am asking you how do i fix this issue. I have looked on the other forum and tried that solution but it didn't work. That is the only program that this issue has occurred on!
Shogun 2 is not compatible with Windows 10. Try running the game in compatibility mode and check. Also see if suggestion in this link helps. http://pcgamehaven.com/total-war-shogun-2-windows-10-crash-to-desktop-fix/ Good luck... :)
Hi, Do you mean to say that Shogun 2 does not start? I would request you to place the computer in clean boot and then check if it helps. Perform a clean boot to check if any third party application is causing the issue, as clean boot helps in eliminating software conflicts. How to troubleshoot problem by performing clean boot in Windows: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929135 Note: Refer " How to reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting " to reset the computer to start as normal after troubleshooting. Please revert if the issue with ntdll.dll is not rectified. Thank you.
ntdll.dll faults, then increasingly frequent BSOD
Hello! I am at my wits' end and would appreciate any advice. I have a Lenovo IdeaCentre K430 running Windows 7 64-bit (Home Professional?). A few months ago I started having issues with ntdll.dll--for example, right-clicking Computer and choosing Manage leads to an explorer.exe crash with ntdll.dll as the culprit. This happens with other applications that appear to use ntdll.dll, such as Photo Viewer and Freecell--for these programs, the process starts in Task Manager then closes, no error messages. Then my computer started blue-screening. This began occasionally, always when playing something with audio: 8tracks, panopto (video recording/presentation software for lectures, I think it uses Silverlight), even the streaming audio from NPR. These are things I've done: 1. Checked video/graphics drivers for most up to date versions. 2. Defragmented. 3. Run antivirus programs - no issues. 4. Run a registry cleaner - no issues. 5. Run scannow and chkdsk - no issues. 6. Uninstalled unused prog
Just a note! I was searching for pxhip64a.sys instead of pxhLp64a.sys--I was looking around on the Web and saw that it was with an L. I found it easily in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Sonic Shared\PX Drivers. I don't have any of the programs typically associated with this file (by roxio/Sonic/Corel etc.), but I think it's a preinstalled something from the manufacturer. Renamed with .bak extension. Just wanted to let you know that it was hiding as you said and I found it. Regina
It is hiding somewhere and was the cause of that 1 crash. I will stay subscribed to this thread just in case and I wish you good luck. Life is a learning experience for us all. I welcome it.
No integrity violations with sfc! I do like the pay-it-forward philosophy. Still I am truly in your debt--I will be more patient with my mom's computer issues in honor of you. Regina
Dear ZigZag, You are a star. I can't believe you fixed my ntdll problem!!!! I am trying out audio right now to test the BSOD. No crash yet. I couldn't find PxHIpa64.sys on my system, or anything from Sonic Solutions. Do you have a location or other information? I am sorry to ask, but I don't have dumpchk on this computer. Although now that ntdll.dll works the installation may work! I uninstalled the AMD driver (which I guess is the ATI driver), then installed the bulky, horrible, yet functional AMD catalyst software. For those reading, the resolution went back to something like 640x480 and it was a little hard to install the software because the "Install" buttons will be offscreen. Just tab through, I believe it is the first tab after you tab to the checkbox. The resolution remained poor until I updated the driver (per a message within the Catalyst software). Then only one monitor of my dual display worked. I had to switch the cord from HDMI-DVI to straight HDMI for my old monitor, and
Thanks for letting us know and good sleuthing
Oops--also, no PxHIpa64.sys, I did a search and looked in that folder. But I'll keep my eyes open.
Regina Your thanks are all I/we need. We volunteer here to help where and when we can and frankly once upon a time I was in your shoes and some one helped me. All I am doing is paying it forward. Dis you search for PxHIpa64.sys? Usually it is in C:\windows\system32 but may be anywhere. If you do find it and want to prevent it from loading you can simply rename it from *.sys to *.bak so it cannot load. BTW if you want to do some additional trouble shooting you should run a system file check (fairly easy and quick) Please run a system file check (SFC) & DISM if you are on win 8 or higher All instructions are in our Wiki article below... Should you have any questions please ask us. System file check (SFC) Scan and Repair System Files
Driver verified and Related to a product from Sonic Solutions (specifically PxHlpa64.sys) Yours is from 2011 I would remove Sonic. Also you need to update your ATI video driver Completely remove the current driver and install the newest driver available. For instructions on how to do that Read all about updating drivers by my partner JMH3143 here http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki/windows_other-hardware/updating-a-driver/a5e6345e-af9b-4099-bef0-8d22254aa1c1?tm=1436753520149

Hi xen3000 Thank you for Posting on Microsoft Answers. Has this game worked before or never has worked? If it was working and now is not, try a System Restore: Running the Microsoft Answers Feedback Forum and let us know what you think.
I don't know if it helps, but I had the exact same error--albiet for another program. I removed iTunes, and it magically worked again. You might want to try removing iTunes; I was also having wierd errors where if I removed my USB mouse while my laptop was sleeping, the driver would stay in memory and prevent the mouse from being recognized until the next restarat. This was also fixed.
Fallout 3 has never worked and other then a temporary issue w/ PowerDVD which I already fixed has always incurred the above error. The game has been reinstalled 5 times through Steam. The SFC Scan did not find any integrity violations; I also performed a recovery installation of Vista from the DVD. It found no issues w/ Vista either.
1. make sure windows live and fallout 3 and video drivers are updated. 2. try running the game in compatibility mode 3. turn off all background applications and empty the temp folder 4. reinstall fallout 5. go to the site below and try some of the info there. http://pcsup port.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/a/ntdlldll.htm
Hi Xen3000, Thank you for writing back to Microsoft Windows Vista Answers. As I understand you are unable to play Fallout 3 on your computer and its never worked on this computer. From the error message I note that the game is crashing and its related to ntdll.dll, with exception code 0xc0000005. Please let us know the the Computer manufacturer and the Graphic card installed on the computer. Also if you are able to play other games on the computer without any issue? You may also try downloading the latest drivers for your Graphic card. You may verify the model number of the Graphic card by accessing the device manager. To access Device manager: 1. Click on start 2. In the Start Search box type devmgmt.msc 3. In the list click on Decive manager 4. Expand Display Adapter 5. Make a note of the Display adapter installed Visit the Display card manufactures website and download the latest drivers and install it. Restart the computer and verify if it works. Let us know

Hi David, It would be great if you can provide more information regarding this issue. 1) Which MSN product are you using on your computer? Is it MSN Explorer? 2) Important: After you have finished troubleshooting, refer to the article “How to reset the computer to start as usual after clean boot troubleshooting” for Windows 8, given under the section “More Information” to reset the computer to start as usual from the above link. Hope this resolves the issue. Please do get back to us with the results.
ntdll.dll causing GTAIV to crash?

ntdll.dll error
I am getting this error whenever i start my computer. Please help.
Explorer fails, ntdll.dll to blame.
explorer, not IE, but explorer the GUI of Windows keeps failing. Under the application logs it is due to ntdll.dll in System32. When it fails I get the "Windows Explorer has failed and needs to restart" So I restart it, and we're hunky dory. But this gets really annoying because it happens multiple times a day and resets my desktop icon locations. I use the "analyze wait chain" in the resource monitor and it's not waiting on anything. Now I did make a modified shortcut and pinned it to my taskbar(superbar) to make life easier. The shortcut is %windir%\explorer.exe c:\ It opens in the C drive instead of My Computer. So, I was wondering are others experiencing this problem. Is there a patch for it yet, a hot fix? Something I can do to fix this annoyance. I am running Windows 7 RTM, WinNT 6.01.3504, 64bit.
It has been my experience that this is normally caused by corrupted registry entries from third party applications. Can you use msconfig to try and isolate some of the startup programs? Are you seeing any error like: • "STOP: 0xC0000221 unknown hard error C:\Winnt\System32\Ntdll.dll" • "STOP: C0000221 unknown hard error \SystemRoot\System32\ntdll.dll" • "AppName: [PROGRAM NAME] ModName: ntdll.dll" • "[PROGRAM NAME] caused a fault in module NTDLL.DLL at [ANY ADDRESS]" • "Crash caused in ntdll.dll!" • "NTDLL.DLL Error!" • "Unhandled exception at [ANY ADDRESS] (NTDLL.DLL
Access violation in ntdll.dll on Surface Book
I get the following error in skype, the addresses change, but it is always in ntdll. I have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times. The same skype account, and skype version, on other computers such as my Surface Pro 3 do not have these errors. Everything else on my Surface Book seems perfectly fine, just Skype is unhappy. This only happens when an online/away notification happens, but it doesn't happen consistently. --------------------------- Skype --------------------------- Access violation at address 76F1BDF2 in module 'ntdll.dll'. ntdll.dll Problem
I am having consistent failures with Flash. The error reported is a fault with ntdll.dll ver. 6.1.7600.16559. My operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium. Is there a hotfix or a more current version of ntdll.dll that can be downloaded? If so, where is it and what do I need to do? I retired from the computer world, but am experienced and can rectify the problem if there is a solution. Thank You

fixing kernel 32.dll and ntdll.dll error
hi i am trying to run a exe file and i get half output and error showing kernel 32.dll and ntdll.dll unknown. i have shown below the error i get. please help me fix it. thank you Regards Vidhya
Hi Vidhya, Thank you for the reply. Niornally these dll corruptions are fixed by running SFC scan. You may run the SFC SCAN tool and let us know the results. Also perform clean boot and check if you can run the exe file. Clean boot will help us identify if any third party applications or startup items are causing the issue. To do this, follow steps from this link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 Note: After checking the functionality in clean boot, follow the suggestions under “How to reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting”. Thank you.
Hi Vidhya, Try running the system file checker: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833/en-us Also, when do you get the error? What application are you trying to start? Have you made any significant system changes lately? Let me know! Mithrandir
Hi Thanks for your reply. i will try running the system file checker. i get this error when i am trying to run a exe file which was built in intel fortran compiler. I have not made any significant changes to my computer. The weird thing is when two of my professors tried running the exe they get same problem. Incomplete output and same error. Might be ma RAM is less for the file to execute but they use computers in my university. So not sure what exactly the problem is. Please help me fix this. Thank you. Regards Vidhya

ntdll.dll, 'APPCRASH' on closing Firefox and VLC
Hello - I'm experiencing a previously unseen and irritating problem that seems to centre around 'ntdll.dll' and an 'APPCRASH' error that pops up upon closing a couple of the programs I regularly use, Firefox and VLC. I've read a number of almost identical problems from other users looking for a solution around the internet, however none of the advice seems to fit for my needs. While Firefox was working well previously, it now presents the error report given below each time I close the browser. On one occasion that I noticed, the 'fault module name' was given as 'mozglue.dll' instead of 'ntdll.dll'. For the case of VLC, the appcrash only appears to occur when I close down MKV files; again, the application works well enough for watching videos, only presenting the crash when I close it down. I am using version 2.1.5 (a later version didn't work for an unrelated reason that I can't remember currently). I'm using Firefox 39 and Windows 7 Pro, with SP1 installed. Please help! Problem signat
Hi, Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community. As per the description, I understand that you are getting an AppCrash error on closing Firefox and VLC. This might have occurred due to some third party application conflicts. I would like to know the make and model of your computer. Try the following methods. Method 1: I suggest you to perform clean boot and check, using this Microsoft Article because may be a third party application is causing this issue. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929135?wa=wsignin1.0 NOTE: A clean boot is performed to start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. NTDLL.DLL windows 7 error
Hello, I saw this thread ( http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-performance/windows-7-explorerexe-keeps-crashing-ntdlldll/949c9965-f4d9-42e5-9828-b586588138e2 ) and wanted to make a new post per the community managers request to other users. I support 2 users who just got the exact same laptop model. Both have windows 7 x64 PRO installed. Their windows explorer locks up at random moments. I asked them to contact me when ever this happens. This morning it happened to both of them not even 20 minutes apart. I tracked down the event logs and found this message: Faulting application name: Explorer.EXE, version: 6.1.7601.17567, time stamp: 0x4d672ee4 Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 6.1.7601.18247, time stamp: 0x521eaf24 Exception code: 0xc0000374 Fault offset: 0x00000000000c4102 Faulting process id: 0xf68 Faulting application start time: 0x01cf4a7ea40a05d3 Faulting application path: C:\Windows\Explorer.EXE Faulting module path: C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll
The "faulting module", the ntdll.dll, is a component of Windows. However another, possibly third party module, may actually be causing the crash. I would recommend to capture a user-mode dump of the explorer.exe crash to get more information on the crash and see if the cause of the crash can be pinpointed. You can configure Windows to create user-mode dumps. Create a System Restore Point first. If you copy and paste the following in Notepad and save as a .reg file (save with the .reg extension and give it any name such as explorerdump.reg) then right-click the .reg file and select "Merge" to add to the registry, a .dmp file at the time explorer.exe crashes should be created in the C:\CrashDumps folder: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps\explorer.exe] "DumpFolder"=hex(2):43,00,3a,00,5c,00,43,00,72,00,61,00,73,00,68,00,44,00,75,\ 00,6d,00,70,00,73,00,00,00 After Explorer (explorer.exe) crashes, can you t
OK, I'll look for your next post.
I will most definitely be able to do this for you. however it will have to wait until Thursday to be done as the users took their devices with them and don't return till Thursday. I hope we can get to the bottom of this. I will let you know when the dump file is created.

Click Start, and then type Internet Explorer in the Start Search box. 2. Click Internet Explorer (No Add-Ons). Internet Explorer opens without add-ons. 3. STOP:c0000221 Unknown Hard Error\Systemroot\System32\ntdll.dll
I have a Dell Vostro 1500 running Windows XP Home edition. During the Windows boot the system crashes and displays the error in the title above. I replaced and upgraded the hard drive and ram modules with Dell components and attempted to run the system disk to boot. Same result, blue screen with the STOP:0000221 Unknown Hard Error\Systemroot\System32\ntdll.dll. So new hardware and system disk boot equals same result. Any advice will be appreciated.
Go into the bios. Disable the ide channel for your cd/dvd rom device. Attempt to boot into Windows. If this solves the issue replace the ide ribbon first > Re-enable the device. If replacing the ribbon doesn't solve it replace the cd/dvd drive. I also read where disabling UltraDMA for the cd/dvd channel can resolve the issue. Edit: Just noticed your computer is a laptop so, replacing the ribbon is not an option. Try the other suggestions I have listed.
For your next fun project, why not take your genuine bootable XP installation CD with SP2 and use a process called "slipstreaming" to create yourself a new XP installation CD that has SP3 rolled in. Put your SP2 installation CD on the shelf. Here me now and believe me later - this will come in handy if you have problems in the future. If you Google XP slipstream you will find several tutorials. Here is one tutorial I like that will work perfectly if you follow the directions exactly: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/slipstreaming-windows-xp-to-create-bootable-cd/
So, the problem occurs when you are trying to boot the system from the hard disk and from the operating system disk?
If you replaced the hard drive (assuming it was brand new) that means you would have to install XP on the new hard drive. If you then booted on your genuine bootable XP installation CD and you see this error, that does not make any sense to me since there is no system32 folder on the XP installation CD. Something here is not adding up. Are you seeing this message when you are installing XP on your new HDD? See here under "Symptoms": http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314474 Using the XP Recovery Console, it is not a big deal to replace a suspicious ntdll.dll file on a malfunctioning system since there should be at least one backup copy on your system in the dllcache folder, or if you have a genuine bootable installation CD with the same Service Pack as your installed Service Pack (most people don't), you can get a fresh file from there. Why don't you tell us a little more about your situation: Please provide additional information about your system as best you can: What is your XP Versio
Just last night I ran into this problem, and it is, indeed, strange. I am trying to do a clean OS reinstall for a friend on her machine. I loaded the reinstallation disk, and attempted to boot to the disk from the boot menu (I noted that the first time that I attempted to do this--when the "press any button to boot to the CD" screen appeared, and I pressed a key--the system seems to have stop working (boot never occurred, so I turned off the system). Your issue really sounds like it has something to do with your keyboard! So... What kind of keyboard are you using? Wireless? Wired? USB? PS/2? Have you checked your keyboard controller setting in the BIOS?
Thanks, everyone, for all of the great tips and help. Interestingly, I used a different reinstallation disk (one for an identical version of Windows XP SP2), and it worked fine. I would think that this would indicate that the original disk might have been the cause of the problem, but I tried to install the operating system with this disk just to be sure, and it worked. It is worthwhile to note that I did not make any changes to the machine before I tried the new disk, then retried the first one that I attempted to use to reinstall the operating system. This would indicate that, whatever the problem was, it wasn't causing a constant problem.

I still don't quite get it, but offer these ideas: If the system has a SATA drive, a genuine bootable XP installation CD may not work since the CD does not have SATA drivers on it... so it may not be able to access the HDD properly or at all. If the problem is with accessing the HDD, usually you would see this: Setup cannot continue. To quit Setup, press F3. What I usually suggest is that you get into the system BIOS and change the disk interface type from SATA to something the XP installation CD can understand and then run the setup (you're going to have to open it). I don't know anything about using a reinstallation disk since I have never reinstalled XP in my life to fix anything. I have accumulated many examples over time, but you may have to poke around and do some experimenting to get satisfaction. If you make a BIOS adjustment, be sure to write down on paper the current value so you can change it back when you are finished installing. As you can see, I have worked on a few of

Please only post information for one computer as information from two will confuse anyone trying to help. Please post a copy of the dump file to your Sky Drive as a Shared File and post a link here. Select Win+E and look in the root of the C drive for a dmp file having the date and time when the crash occurred. You may need to show hidden files. Type Folder Options in the search box above the Start button and select View, Advanced Settings and verify that the box before "Show hidden files and folders" is checked and "Hide protected operating system files" is unchecked. You may need to scroll down to see the second item. You should also make certain that the box before "Hide extensions for known file types" is not checked. Hope this helps, Gerry Cornell
Windows 7 explorer.exe keeps crashing - ntdll.dll fault
Windows 7 explorer.exe keeps crashing with the following report in the event log: Faulting application name: Explorer.EXE, version: 6.1.7600.16404, time stamp: 0x4a765076 Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 6.1.7600.16385, time stamp: 0x4a5bdadb Exception code: 0xc0000374 Fault offset: 0x000c283b Faulting process id: 0xf20 Faulting application start time: 0x01ca74f76542bfc4 Faulting application path: C:\Windows\Explorer.EXE Faulting module path: C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll Report Id: b41f5c6a-e0ea-11de-915e-001f1656abe5 It seems to happen most often when I look at folders containing media files - .mod, .mpg files - but is not restricted to these. It also seems totally random... sometimes I can browse the folders for quite a while; other times, it crashes and restarts as soon as I open a folder. I've reinstalled Windows 7 and it has happened again almost straight away. I've only installed Office 2007. I've run sfc /scannow command line app and have checked the drive with onecare
Andre, I was hoping that would fix it, but alas it didn't. I removed WinZip and rebooted. I then went into Windows Explorer and right-clicked a file and got the same error. I have a new dump file if you'd be kind enough to check it out. What do you use to look at these files anyway? http://cid-6345b14d260c6044.office.live.com/embedicon.aspx/Public/explorer.exe.4144.dmp Thanks for taking the time on this for me, I appreciate it.
I went through and disabled each non-MSFT extension yesterday with ShellExView (one by one) just before I posted to this thread with no luck. I'm thinking I may just re-install and add programs one-by-one until I find the culprit. Thanks for your help.
Andre, I started having this issue a few days ago. I'm running Win7 Pro 32-bit. I've since uninstalled the two applications that were installed just before the crash started occurring however that hasn't helped any. This only occurs when I right-click anything while in windows explorer. I went through this entire post: http://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/844700-explorerexe-constantly-crashes/page__st__135 And it seems that, at least in the case of sullysnet, it was FF and private browsing. I don't use private browsing but figured I'd uninstall FF anyway to see what happened. I was using FF ver 3.6.9. That didn't fix the issue so it doesn't seem to be FF, at least in my case. I created a dump and have posted it here: http://cid-6345b14d260c6044.skydrive.live.com/redir.aspx?resid=6345B14D260C6044!104&Bpub=SDX.Docs&Bsrc=GetSharingLink Any chance you could take a look?
Hmm, the dump is not useful (for me). Hi mcutting, Welcome to Microsoft Answers! The causes of ntdll.dll error messages can vary greatly. I uninstalled Office2007 and now the application is working fine. If i reinstall Office 2007 i again see the same error. However i dont have issues with office 2003. Can you please explain me what is happennig? Please find the cause and give a solution to solve this.
Hi, start regedit.exe and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps\Explorer.exe and create a new DWORD (32Bit) with the Name DumpType and give it the value of 2 . When Explorer crashes again, a larger dump file will be created. Upload this larger dump file please. Hi Mauro, Thank you for posting your issue on Microsoft Community Forums. Did you make any changes to the computer prior to the issue? Ntdll.dll errors can sometimes mean that a piece of hardware in your computer is malfunctioning. How To Fix Ntdll.dll Errors: 1. Restart your computer. The ntdll.dll error you're receiving could be due to a one-time, temporary issue and a simple reboot may resolve the problem completely. 2. Reinstall the program if the ntdll.dll error only displays when you use a specific program. 3. If the software program has any updates or service packs available, install them too. The software's programmers may have identified an issue with the program that caused the ntdll.dll error and then issued a patch for it. Note: Third party software programs that have been installed on your computer are almost always the cause of ntdll.dll errors. Also, check if the issue persists in clean boot. I have had the same issue occurring on several staff laptops. In my environment I have not updated the drivers for any of the printers yet to a Windows 7 compatible version. I deleted all printers (network ones still on XP drivers), and set the default printer to PDF creator, so far over the last few days Word has not crashed yet, and have had no more problems with it.
With all due respect, the possible causes represented here aren't hitting the mark. I got a Dell E1705 laptop in November 2006, wiped the drive, and I installed Vista Ultimate 32-bit and Office 2007 from my MSDN sub. I got the same problem stated above, Outlook crashing when you close it. It auto-restarts, you close again and you're fine. Same error shows up in the events logs every time. BUT, it gets better: last year I build an i7-920 rig with 12GB ram, etc, install Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. Runs great as a video editing machine. Then I win a copy of Office 2010 Pro at an MSDN event (I'm a certified developer), install it on the i7 rig, guess what Outlook does... same thing. THEN, two months ago, I build an i3 rig for my wife, Win 7 Pro 64-bit, 4GB ram, simple box for email and web. I install Office 2010 Pro, and take a stab at what Outlook does... yep, same error. We don't run AV software, so it isn't that. I do run AV separately (McAfee's FreeScan in a web browser to ensure we're clean). As far as the Office installation, I do go into Options and set a few things such as form color and icons along the top, nothing fancy. But what it tells me is that I must be setting something that's causing this bug to surface. I have three machines that all do it. I'm a 10-year Microsoft certified professional in Visual Studio, SQL Server and Windows Administration, so I know how to install software. Microsoft needs to find this bug, there are PLENTY of documented cases all over the web, and I get pretty tired of "you shouldn't have upgraded Windows, you should have done a clean install" or "your AV software is causing it" or "your Office version isn't supported"... my three examples blow those pat answers into the water because I'm not nder ANY of those scenarios. Outlook has a bug and it needs to be fixed, and my gut feel is that it has to do with Outlook using Word as it's editing engine, because Word will do the same thing at times. All of the other Office apps never do this, at least in my world. Maybe it IS a conflict with some other installation, but the only things that all 3 machines have in common that aren't Microsoft products are iTunes, Adobe's stuff (Reader and Flash), O&O Defrag, and UniBlue RegistryBooster. However, I never run the Defrag or RegistryBooster services, I only fire up the apps once a month when we need them. So if anyone can make sense of all that, great, go for it and let us know. I'm getting beyond irritated with Outlook crashing, and if it's me causing it, I'd like to know. But there are thousands of others with the same issue, so I hope this goes somewhere. I've pasted my Event Log entry for comparison's sake: Log Name: Application Source: Application Error Date: 11/29/2010 7:40:02 PM Event ID: 1000
Will be watching this thread for a solution, as I, too, am experiencing this issue with one my users' machines. Similar history, configuration, fresh installation, etc. Simply no rhyme or reason. thanks Paulie, for the thorough legwork and throwing this back out there for further consideration.
BTW, I'm going to try the clean boot that Guruprasad mentions. I'll post back with results. We need to figure this out!
This has been a nightmare problem with Windows 10 ever since they created this toy operating system. NTDLL fails time and time and time again. You run SFC, DISM, reinstall the operating system, reinstall FSX, light up a couple of candles and say a prayer, you leave the computer tuned to the Oral Roberts program hoping it will heal itself. And all the while it has ZERO to do with Outlook. As a matter of fact, I don't even have Outlook installed on my computer. What I need is the dog gone file to replace the corrupt one. WHERE IS IT??????

In fact i got the dump only this time after about 10-20 crashes :(. http://www.mediafire.com/?yev6d7dsdzns8z2 Pls analyze and help me solve the issue. Thanks, jai
Dear All, I too am experiencing repeated crashes of Windows 7 explorer. Looking at the event viewer, it points to ntdll.dll and verifier.dll as being the culprits. I have tried a number of fixes that I have found in this community and I think that I have had success with the ntdll.dll but not the verifier.dll crashes. the dump files for the recent three most crashes can be found here: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0Bw_z3E0TyhB0SEtzejJVUkRrTWM&usp=sharing Can someone have a look at these for me so I can hopefully solve this issue. Thanks in advance for any assistance
You're welcome.
Hi, Many thanks for your analysis. Could you help me in activating the application verifier. i have not used it :) . Thanks, Jai
Hi, Many thanks for your support. I un-installed the bluetooth software & there has been no explorer crashes after that (almost for 5 days now). :) Regards, Jai
Hi CloggNZ, I took a look at a couple of the dump files and there was a reference to the contextmenu32.dll: STACK_TEXT: 00000000 00000000 contextmenu32.dll !Unknown+0x0 I do not see a contextmenu32.dll as a loaded module but there is the following: 0c460000 0c484000 RB_ContextMenu (deferred) Image path: C:\Program Files\Roxio\Roxio Burn \RB_ContextMenu.dll Image name: RB_ContextMenu.dll Timestamp: Wed Jan 12 14:42:25 2011 (4D2E0421) CheckSum: 00026439 ImageSize: 00024000 File version: 1.0.0.1 Product version: 1.0.0.1 Can you go to the C:\Program Files\Roxio\Roxio Burn folder and right-click the RB_ContextMenu.dll and rename it to RB_ContextMenu.old and see if the errors resolve. If the problem persists try, at least temporarily, uninstalling Google Drive as the contextmenu32.dll may be a component of that software.
Hi, I tried the above methods but its not helping. explorer is crashing frequently with verifier.dll problem. Its even more annoying that, i/p interfaces do not respond when trying to select "restart explorer". I got the following info by analyzing the crash dump. So pls help Microsoft (R) Windows Debugger Version 6.12.0002.633 AMD64 Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. Loading Dump File [C:\LocalDumps\explorer.exe.3256.dmp] thanks, Jai
Actually, I would suggest to disable the Application Verifier if it has already been enabled as having it enabled may cause issues. The "Application Verifier" is not included in the Windows 7 installation and has to be installed manually. Can you check if it exists in your installation: Start > type Application Verifier in the "Search programs and files box" Is there anything listed in the results (would be under "Programs")?
According to the following from the crash dump file you provided there are two potential problematic .dlls: ******************************************************************************* * * * Exception Analysis * * * So try updating or, if necessary, uninstall the associated programs (WIDCOMM\Bluetooth Software and Internet Download Manager). Also, have you enabled the "Application Verifier"?
Hi, You can try the following methods and check the status. Method 1: Check if you encounter the issue in ‘Safe mode’; if safe mode works fine then set the computer to ‘Clean boot’ state. ntdll.dll faulting
I have been having some problems this last week where chrome has been taking a very long time to start, bluetooth has been acting up, I can't run Windows Update and I can't connect to my VPN for work. There are a bunch of messages in the application log stating Group Policy Client or Remote Access Connection Manager or some other " service failed to start due to the following error: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion." I think that the root cause is the following that I am getting during start-up: Thanks, - Rick
Running the command: sfc /scannow Appears to have resolved the ntdll.dll faulting. I have a ton of other messages to go through, but the system appears to be working a lot better. I hope this helps someone. - Rick

Faulting application DPPViewer.exe, version 3.8.0.0 faulting module ntdll.dll, version 6.0.6002.18005 Please please help, this problem is driving me insane. I have been using Canon's Digital Photo Professional for a little while, then all of a sudden it started crashing whenever I enter into any folder other than the one it opens up in, which is the desktop. I had updated a few drivers between it working and not working and maybe done a few other things, but nothing significant other than the drivers. I have since rolled back the said drivers, they were the USB drivers in Device manager, but they are back to normal now. I have uninstalled and reinstalled countless times and have tried various other things too. PLEASE HELP, this is an important software within my workflow. I opened up Event viewer and this is what it came up with: Fa

DPP will do this if ANYTHING other than the photos generated by the camera are in the folder, or if one of the images themselves are corrupt. I would create a new folder and carefully select just image files and drop them into the new folder then try that. If you still get the error after this, then try it again, one file at a time -restarting DPP each time until you figure out which image is causing it. I would also reformat the memory card - using the camera - and then finally, if all the above still creates issues, then try a new memory card.
Unfortunately I have tried all of this Rob except for reinstalling Windows, which I am dreading, although I think it may be the solution... :(

I formatted my card, and now I do not have DPP crashes.. (on windows 7).. So far, I have only tested with fresh folders that do not contain any stuff other than new .CR2 photos. Also, I used the EOS utility for downloading photos (from camera to PC).
mine did the same thing. the program opens up with my desktop files, and I had some Nikon format images on there, I moved them into another folder so the DPP didnt see them right away, and it worked fine. trust me, it works! take all of the image files on your desktop and put them in a folder. sounds weird but it works.
Hi, The DPPViewer.exe is a Canon utility so check with their support for possible updates and/or known issues. Does the error occur when not using the Canon program? If not then it is actually being caused by the Canon program or its associated drivers. The ntdll.dll is actually being driven to fault and it not actually the cause of the error. Hi, The ntdll.dll file is a file created by Microsoft that has a description of "NT Layer DLL" and is the file that contains NT kernel functions. Method 1 You may run the System File Checker. How to use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or on Windows 7 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833 Method 2 If the issue still persists you can perform system restore. System Restore http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/products/features/system-restore
I DID IT!!! I had the same problem and I tried everything listed above, nothing worked. Then, thanks to the possibility of using the TotalCommander from the Recovery Console, I searched for all the "kernel32.dll" and the "ntdll.dll" files in the "windows" directory, where I discovered that the ones in the "windows\system32" directory weren't the last versions ones. So I copied the last version ones from "windows\winsxs" to "windows\system32" and it solved my problem!!! If it can can be helpful, I'm happy to share. Juraj

Realplayer ntdll.dll error!
Yesterday my computer crashed but I was able to get it going again. I didn't try to open Realplayer after the crash, but today when I tried it wasn't working. It asked me to reboot and see whether the problem was still there, and I did that, but now I just get a dialog box saying "RealPlayer has stopped working, Windows can check online for the solution or close thee program". I tried checking online but again, nothing happened. Then, I tried downloading a new version, but nothing. The Realplayer converter and trimmer are working just fine, but the actual music library is just not working. Also, if it helps, on the dialog box under problem details it said - Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: realplay.exe Application Version: 12.0.1.609 Application Timestamp: 4cd44eff Fault Module Name: ntdll.dll Fault Module Version: 6.0.6002.18005 Fault Module Timestamp: 49e03824 Exception Code: c00000fd Exception Offset: 0004e253 OS Version: 6.0.6002.2.2.0.768.3 Locale ID: 1033 Additional
Just upgraded to Windows 7 64bit and after 10 days of clean running most serious applications I focused on my Music. Windows Media Player worked for 2 sessions but STOPPED as soon as I went to list/search music libraries on hard drive and on a USB stick. Media Player is the version included in the Windows 7 install disk just purchased. Exception Code 4cd44eff was displayed Media Player will not PLAY from stored MP3 albums or individual files. On-line steaming application "Nexus Radio" played once then similarly locked up. Real Player works on and off and occasionally STOPS and displays the same Exception Code. Microsoft .... I think you have a big problem on this one.

Hello Sheila, Thank you for updating us with the status of the issue. Please feel free to reply, in case you face any other issues with Windows in future. We'll be glad to assist you. Thank you.
THANK YOU! I looked into the issues you said-and Microsoft Support helped me install OUTLOOK 2013 , OFFICE 365 ,PLUS my Kaspersky antivirus/password 3.0 was not working for a while and I did not now since it showed enabled etc. so I bought a new brand suggested by support. The error codes were coming up when I sent emails only.I did not know that Yahoo was not good enough to "stand alone" on my laptop as my only email program! Thank you for replying-I'm a grandma and a first grade teacher! Luckily ,I CAN follow directions ,instructions ,and ask for help. . Also ,just to mention ,I am not sure if I deleted files but its kind of easier now for me to make sure I know what I am deleting and I never saw anything in recycle bin for a long, long time but my "favorites" websites- when I'm not using them much-I delete them and they always go to recycle bin. The large red X and its sound upon an error get my attention!! I am so glad I tried this forum to find answers.Thank you again. Sheila G.

ntdll.dll problem
Since moving to Windows 7 32 bit, my Canon 5600f scanner will work on any user profile except mine!. Canon reckon that it is a microsoft problem and, after trying to start the Navigator progran, their technician talked me through to looking at the event log where I have an application error report which shows that ntdll.dll is the faulting module when the Canon Navigator program fails to start. They claim that it is not a Canon problem even though theirs is the only software which exhibits this problem. Has anyone any thoughts? Thanks Ian
Hi Ian, Follow the methods listed below: Method 1: Perform a System File Checker (SFC) scan on your computer to fix the issue. SFC tool scans system files and replaces incorrect versions of the system files by using the correct versions. See How to use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or on Windows 7 for instructions. Method 2: It could indicate corruption with your user profile. Step 1: To verify the same, create a new new user account and check if the issue recurs in the newly created account. Step 2: If the issue does not persist in the new user account, it could indicate that your old user account is corrupted. See Fix a corrupted user profile for instructions on repairing the corrupt user profile. Hi Rohit, Glad to know that the issue is sorted out and let us know if you need any assistance with Windows in future.
Hi Rohit, The SFC scan report states that, it found some corrupted System files and it will be fixed when you reboot the computer. I would suggest you to restart the computer in order to fix corrupted System files. Thanks and regards John
How about that. Even with a 'report abuse' category - Software Piracy , we now have 'support engineers', at least indirectly, condoning the use of PIRATE software ? And from actual MS employee's on the official MS forums, at that. .

According to the dump file the following appears to be causing the crash: Unable to load image C:\Program Files\Shark007\filters \DivXThumbnailProvider.dll , Win32 error 0n2 The DivXThumbnailProvider.dll appears to be a component of DivX Plus Media Foundation and, in your case, appears to be a part of the Win7codecs software. So you could try what is suggested in the following link: http://shark007.net/forum/Thread-Crashed-Windows-Explorer-in-Some-Folder-s?highlight=explorer Or uninstall the Win7codecs program.
if that does not work... lets disable all 3rd party services from msconfig and reply on my email.. *** Email address is removed for privacy ***
Hi DevinLoucks, I would suggest you to try the following steps: Method 1: Run the Performance Troubleshooter and then check Open the Performance troubleshooter http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Open-the-Performance-troubleshooter Method 2: If a Windows Resource Protection (WRP) file is missing or is corrupted, Windows may not behave as expected. Run System File Checker (SFC) scan to fix any corrupt system files. To do this, follow the steps mentioned in the link below: How to use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or on Windows 7 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833 Thanks and Regards: Ajay K Microsoft Answers Support Engineer ***************************************************************************
Dear Devin, I guess the files stored in your C:\ drive have got corrupted. Check your operating system files with the help of System File Checker utility. The steps are outlined below: 1. Insert Windows 7 installation disc. 2. Click Start , point to All Programs | Accessories . 3. Right click Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator option. 4. Type the following command and then press ENTER : SFC /SCANNOW 5. The process shall start now. Otherwise it is also possible that some of the shell extensions are not working properly. It generally happens due to various reasons depending on several other factors. This problem can be resolved by retrieving a list of all available shell extensions and then disabling those you consider making this problem. If you Google by typing "free shell extension viewer" then you will get plenty of freeware programs that let you do this task yourself. 1. Download and install a shell extension viewer program. 2. Run it. 3. Generate a list of all installed
Tried both methods + msconfig, no help...
Is there a newer version of ntdll.dll? mine seems to be corrupted
Audigy 2 mediasource stalls on ntdll.dll. My version is dated in 200t. Is there a newer, better version of ntdll.dll for XP?
I'm not sure, but you could possibly copy it from the windows disc or do a windows repair from the disc if it is corrupt.

ntdll.dll error in outlook 2010
scenario: Updated user from XP SP3 and O2K3 to W7 and O2K10. Both W7 and O2K10 are fully updated; for that matter, they are a company image, and this is about the dozenth I've pushed out. User clicks on sent items in new pc, outlook hangs with the following error: Also happens when she attempts to attach anything to a new email. Those are the only two instances I can find where the error occurs, but they are a doozy. Things I've done: 1. Replaced the computer with a second W7 image. 2. Decreased .ost size to less than 200,000 kb, well below our limit. 3. scanpst.exe found errors, but it also states that it fixed them. 4. deleted email profile, archives, everything, started over. 5. tried both cached and uncached mode. 6. verified that the profile on the xp box is looking at the same exchange server as the w7 box (remember, the xp box has no issues). 7. run in safe mode (outlook, not the entire pc) and disabled all add-ins. 8. start > run > outlook.exe /resetnavpane Also, I've

Hello, Please uninstall the third-party software on your system and run SFC /SCANNOW command at administrative Command Prompt and see if that helps. Hope this helps, Good luck :)
I try sfc/scannow but it stops at 58 % and says: Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation. What you mean by "third-party software" all programs that aren't from Microsoft? Now I am on administrator account and it works OK. I can't do anything with my main account (the only program I can use is Task Manager), so the only way to fix it is through administrator account. Thanks for help. :)
change file association ntdll.dll crash
When I try to change a file association in Win 7 Prof. x64, the ntdll.dll crashes. Error Messages: When using Rightclick --> open with --> select default application: "Allgemeine Windows-Shell-DLL funktioniert nicht mehr" (I'm using a german version of Windows) translated: "Common Windows-Shell-DLL does not work anymore" Details: I can still change the associations in the registry without problems, and then everything works fine - but still I don't like it when something doesn't work as it should... Does anyone know a way to solve this? Thanks for any tips.
After all, reinstalling windows fixed that problem. I still don't know why it broke, probably it was the software "DAPlayer" - at least the problem occured the first time when I wanted to change the file associations back to VLC after uninstalling it.
Hi, one way is, use this cool tool for changing a file association: http://defaultprogramseditor.com/ or Change file associations 1. In the Search programs and files type folder options and click the "Folder Options" link that appears. 2. In the "Folder Options" dialog box , select "View" tab. 3. Uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types". 4. Click "OK" Now you would be able to see the file extension along with it's name which can be easily changed May be this is helpful..try
Well nice, you copied the answers from the other thread I posted - but it looks to me that you did not read my post, because I wrote that this thread does not fix the problem, it's just a workaround. When I tell you that my bike is broken and ask you what to do to fix it and you tell me to walk, then this does not fix the problem, because my bike is still broken, you understand? I can still change the file associations via regedit - there is no need for an extra tool. The second answer is not related to the topic as it tells me how to unhide the extensions after the filename, but I don't want to change the extension of a file (and I always uncheck that checkbox anyway). Again: I don't want a workaround, I want to fix that ntdll.dll crash.

Thanks for your suggestion, but it seems that there is no saved restore point prior to the time the error started appearing. According to the link you gave me above, whenever a new restore point is made, another one is deleted. Thanks for trying anyways. It seems that formatting is the only option.
Hello TuNiSiE, Thank you posting. I’ve researched you issue and have found what causes the error and ways to fix the problems. I’ve listed the steps that are related to your error. Ntdll.dll errors can be caused by a number of different things which result in many different error messages. Microsoft Answers Feedback Forum and let us know what you think.
Hello TuNiSiE, Just one more thought, before you do a clean install, if you have the Vista installation CD/DVD, I would suggest you perform Startup Repair or System Restore using the Vista installation CD. This way Windows will replace damaged or missing system files on your PC with good ones from the CD/DVD. Use the link below to get this done. How do I use Startup Repair? Please reply and let us know if your issue is resolved or if you will need further assistance David O Microsoft Answers Support Engineer Visit our and let us know what you think.
Hello TuNiSiE, Thank you for using Microsoft Windows Vista Forums. Since you advised this problem has recently occured I would suggest to perform a System Restore to a point in time prior to you having this problem. Using the System Restore tool may not necessarily help you determine the issue. The System Restore tool uses restore points to return system files and settings to an earlier point in time. You can use it to restore the operating system to a point in time in which you did not experience the issue. When you use System Restore to restore the computer to a previous state, programs and updates that you installed are removed. I have added a link below for performing a System Restore. From this link it will also have you try to run 'The System File Checker tool'. Please let us know status. Thanks! Running the Microsoft Answers Feedback Forum and let us know what you think.
Thanks a lot for the solutions you noted but none of them seem to work for me. The thing is, a few days ago there was nothing wrong with my computer and I'm pretty sure I didn't mess with any settings or install anything malicious. It just happened suddenly without any reason. If you have any other solutions, please give them to me; I'm desperate.
thank you Zack for your research on NTDLL.DLL I will try what you have to say. Cindy Mayo Las Vegas
Thanks for replying David. I actually skipped over and formatted the computer without using the Startup Repair. As for doing a System Restore - I already tried to do one but there was no restore point prior to the error. The thing is, the error still occurs to the same programs as before! Even after formatting! This leads me to think that my hardware is actually causing the error. Thanks for your help and everyone else who gave me suggestions, but I think that I have no choice but to live with it.

ntdll.dll. error causes explorer to crash
Hello, I've got strange problem with my computer for a few days. I'm using WIN 10 PRO. Process explorer.exe crashes and restarts every time I click on the "file explorer" shortcut on the windows bar on the bottom of screen - when I click start button and then "file explorer" it works. Furthermore, it also crashes when I click on any file/folder with right mouse button - blue circle appears, all the folders/files freeze, screen blinks and that's it, explorer just crashed and restarted. 2 days ago I found here, on this, forum to check the file integrity with command " sfc /scannow" . It took some time to finish and I got info, that system repaired some integrity tissues. After that the problem with "explorer.exe" was gone. In the meantime I ran antyvir - nothing found. Yesterday, the problem got back. I don't know what causes it and how to solve it. I checked the system's event log and there are many error records. Almost all of them are about "explorer.exe" and they say that problem is
Ok, 1. I performed DISM, got info that process completed. Nothing changed with my problem. 2. I also tried to do startup repair, but it failed with the info from log file, that version of my system is not compatible with system repair tool. :(
Please read this wiki to find out how to find and upload your event viewer logs

This problem has been plagging Win 7-8-10 users for way too long and it's time that Microsoft aknowledges there is a problem... I scanned the internet in all directions and found reports about crashing Windows explorer way back to 2011 or earlier.. though maybe not that much often. I had a perfectly working Win7 SP1 Enterprise on a corporate domain for the past 5 years, until I got a new laptop (upgraded from HP 8540w to 8560w).... soon after I started to work on the newly imaged laptop, I got plenty of system updates pushed to my computer and one day all of a sudden my Windows explorer started crashing for no apparent reason every time I was trying to lookup the properties of .EXE files... even a desktop shortcut that points to an EXE makes the explorer.exe process crash... the event log contains more or less always the same message : Faulting application name: Explorer.EXE, version: 6.1.7601.19135, time stamp: 0x56a1bbe2 Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 6.1.7601.19160, time
Hi Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community, I understand your concern and we will try to assist you in the best way we can. The causes of ntdll.dll error messages can vary greatly. However, most ntdll.dll errors result from a corrupt or damaged version of the ntdll.dll file itself, corrupt hardware drivers, or issues between Windows and other programs. I would suggest that you perform the methods mentioned below and check if the issue persist: Method 1: DISM may help you to fix some Windows corruption errors. Click on the link provided below to know how to run DISM. Note: Article for 8.1 also applicable for Windows 10 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/947821 Method 2: Startup Repair Go to the “Lock Screen” and press shift and click on the power icon located on the bottom right corner of the screen. You will have to restart your computer, you will be prompted to click on “Restart Anyway”. Then you select “Troubleshoot” and click on “Advance Option” and locate and select “Start
So what should I do? How should I do this correctly? I can try to translate this for you, but as you said there are many more...:/ 1-The Adapter of receiver Net.Tcp service depends on the port forwarding service Net.Tcp service which failed to start because of the following error: 2-The user's data access _Session1 service terminated unexpectedly. 3-The user's data storage _Session1 service terminated unexpectedly 4-The contact data _Session1 service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 10000 milliseconds: Uruchom usługę ponownie. I need some solution... Maybe I should restore system to the initial state? (not formatting it, just restore - I saw that option when I did startup repair)...

Problem related to library named NTDLL.DLL
My issue is related to a library named NTDLL.DLL I can compile and execute some mixed language Fortran and C/C++ code in Windows 7; however when I compile and try to execute the same code in Windows 10 the executable created 'locks up' and I can get an error apparently related to file NTDLL.DLL. A screenshot of the error message is attached. Thoughts appreciated.

PSHersh, Thanks for posting to the Microsoft Answers Forum. The first thing I would suggest you do is run the System File Checker. The link below will give information about that tool. You will want to run the "SFC /scannow" option. You will need your XP CD for this tool in case it needs to correct any files. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310747 Let us know the results.
