I'm having a kernel32.dll issue with a certain game made by Rockstar Games. Brad P. told me to come here and ask what to do. Now, here's a link for the Rockstar Support page I wrote the problem on: http://support.rockstargames.com/requests/549792 You can get all the details from there. The update problem was solved as you can see, but the kernel32.dll error keeps on going. I run Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3. My graphics card is nVidia GeForce 9600GT, the computer has 2GB RAM memory and an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 5600+ processor. I just hope I won't get any solutions such as "reinstall Windows" or "get the new, amazing Windows 8!" Cheers

I have multiple user profiles on my PC, because my first one got some kinda virus and after deleting it, it stopped working. This user profile that I use now is my main one and I have tried playing the game by using another profile. Didn't work. Thanks anyway!
My computer has ASUS M2N68 motherboard, nVidia GeForce 9600GT video card, 2GB memory, AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 5600+ processor etc. The security programs I have are AVG Anti-Virus 2012, ZoneAlarm and something called Advanced SystemCare. Haven't made any changes lately. The issue only comes with this game. Everything else works normally. I do have the game installed on my computer. I thought it's what is supposed to be done if one wishes to play a game.. About method 2, I have done that more than ten times with no help. My computer has no viruses. I have checked it with different online scanners and my trusty AVG. The clean boot didn't help either. Sorry it took so long to answer. I've been busy.

kernel32.dll is faulting module. I cannot scan from PaperPort and ABBYY FineReader.
Hello, kernel32.dll is faulting module. I cannot scan from PaperPort and ABBYY FineReader. The following error messages have been returned by the system: - “Scanner driver error TWRC_FAILURE/TWCC_UNKNOWN". - Please, advice. Thank you very much. #130727_0436_i2_PC_Xer_PapFix
Hi Igor, Kernel32.dll is loaded to protected memory space when the computer starts. Kernel32.dll is a system file, and if the file is corrupt then System File Checker scan should detect and repair it. Refer to the following article to run SFC scan: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833/en-us Keep us updated on the status of the issue.
Hi Igor, Uninstall all 3; Xerox WorkCentre, PaperPort and ABBYY FineReader. Install them one at time and check if it helps. Let us know the status of the issue.
Hi Igor, What is the make and model of the scanner? You may check if the scanner is compatible with your version of Operating system visit the following link: Windows 7 Compatibility Center Note: Enter the scanner model in the Search bar and select the category as hardware and look for the compatibility of the program and select the System Type as Windows 7. Also, refer this article for ABBYY FineReader: The parameter is incorrect / Cannot open TWAIN source http://knowledgebase.abbyy.com/article/493 You may check the error message or error code in event viewer. Refer the link below: Open Event Viewer: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Open-Event-Viewer Hope this information helps.
Hi Kiran, Yes. I have done it yet. I uninstalled all 3; Xerox WorkCentre, PaperPort and ABBYY FineReader. Install them one at time and check if it helps. No. It did not help. The status of the issue is the same. Please see the description above. What do you think about it? Please, advice. Thank you very much.
Hi Winston, Yes. I have already checked if the scanner is compatible with my version of Operating system . No. This information did not help me. Thank you very much.
Hi Kiran, System File Checker scan have not detected the corrupted files. ------------ C: \Windows\system32> sfc / scannow Started system scan. This process may take some time. Start by scanning the verification phase of the system. Verification 100% complete. Windows Resource Protection did not detect violations of integrity. C: \Windows \system32> ------------ Thank you very much.
Hi Kiran, Thank you very much for you help. I have checked this knowledge base article, but I have no idea about the solution. I suppose this problem has came after the windows update. Hope, it will disappear after the next windows updates. If I find a solutions I let you know about it. Thank you very much again and have a great weekend.
Hi Igor, I would want you to check the following knowledge base article. Note that this article is not directed related to the issue at hand, but is similar. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/311075/en-us In the article mentioned above refer to the section ‘Cause’ of the issue? Sure the make the make and model of the device & operating system are different and the error itself. This article talks about the twain driver not working with any Twain applications but works with other software’s. You are facing a very similar issue where the scanner works with Xerox but not with Paperport and ABBYY FineReader. ‘The scanner still works with its own software but does not work with any TWAIN applications.’ Hope the information helped.
kernel32.dll problem on Vista Home Premium
I'm tying to install my copy of Office 365 which I have 2 spare licenses for and every time I attempt it, it says " The procedure entry point SetWaitableTimerEx could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll. I've tried to install a new kernel32.dll file but am unable to replace it in the system folder. I found another question similar to this and the suggestion was to use command prompt and a scan but nothing came up. Does anyone know what I can except to do a clean install of windows (which I haven't got). Thanks, Brendan Moved from Vista Programs Forum.

Multiple programs crashing "APPCRASH" fault module kernel32.dll
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: finale.exe Application Version: 1d1d64b872c793392285053bf8183ae1 The problem has been going on for well over a year now. restoring the system to a time when it was working is not a very viable option at this point. I would have tried this, but when it first began I only noticed it with protoolsLE.exe. it did work prior to that though. today I installed the other two programs listed and I immediately got the exact same issue. I have never successfully opened the programs since the problem, and protoolsLE.exe is the only one I have ever been able to open period. I recognized it as the same and realized it must be a problem more widespread than with just these programs. I am running on vista home premium. I don't think it is a virus because aside from these 3 programs I have no other problems. I have tried running an SFC scan which was recommended to another user with a similar problem.
Hello areyouserious, Palcouk suggest to uninstall the two programs as the kernel32.dll seems to be corrupt. Uninstall and reinstall from the original media for the two programs will write over the affending error and reinstall a new version that isn't corrupt. Your other option would be to do a system restore to a point where the programs were working correctly. To choose a System Restore point, · From the Desktop click the Pearl (start) button · In the Search Field type “System Restore” and hit enter · Once System Restore is open, select the option “choose a different restore point” and hit next Once on the next screen, pick a restore point to go back to when it last worked for you. Once you select the restore point, click next, then select finish, this will start the restore process. Please reply back with an update. Thanks, Marilyn Microsoft Answers Support Engineer Visit our Microsoft Answers Feedback Forum and let us know what you think
it is fully compatible with vista and wasn't designed for win2000. and why would I want to uninstall these programs? that wouldn't solve anything. the problem is that I can't get them to work. what good does uninstalling them do me?
Uninstall the two programs causing the problem Wasnt ProtoolsLE released in 1999, and subsequently discontinued? thus there may have been no bug fixes or updates (And if 1999 was probably designed for win2k?)
(Close) Is Kernel32.dll Error Associated With Driver Power State Error?
I have ran into a considerable number of issues with my computer lately, namely in a Driver State Power Error that I can't identify the problem for, which not only occasionally crashes my computer but also disconnects my computer from the internet every 15 minutes or so. After many (failed) calls to Microsoft IT and hours of internet research, I found where someone recommended running an SFC on Command Prompt. When I run said prompt (which surprisingly worked, seeing as I can't use my command prompt to shut down or restart my computer at the moment) it informs me that there's a sort of error with kernel32.dll, and that it cannot resolve it on its own. Is there any chance that this error is causing the Driver State Power Error? How do I resolve this (or these) issues?
Hi Grace, Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community. Please follow below steps and check if it helps. Method 1: Run SFC Scan trice as it can fixes the issue automatically. Hope these information helps, please get back to us for future support, we’ll be glad to assist you further. Thank you.
Thank you for the response! Sadly your suggestion did not work. Either way my computer ended up crashing entirely due to unrelated reasons and I currently have it getting fixed by a professional, so I suppose this post is no longer necessary.

Hello, I had exactly the same error as jomarle55 but with Fix-it Utilities Pro 14. I resolved it by desinstalling "Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x64 Redistributable" & "Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x86 Redistributable". Fix-it downloads them and installs them so be sure to be connected during installation. Enjoy !
Hi Jomarle55 , 1. Which Microsoft Fixit did you try to run? 2. What do you mean when you say “ download a disk”? Did you try to download the setup files for Fixit utility? 3. If so, where did you download the file from? If you are receiving the error message when trying to install the software, you may try the following steps and check if it helps: Method 1: You may try running the fixit from the link and check if it helps: Fix problems with programs that can't be installed or uninstalled Method 2: You may try performing a clean boot and check if it helps: You may refer the following KB article to put the computer in clean boot: How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" state Note: Make sure you put the computer back to Normal Startup once you are done with the troubleshooting.

Hi Debleena, Thanks for your reply. The HP Support website unfortunately did not have any links in providing my recovery disk. I did have a recovery partition and restored my PC to the factory settings (Windows XP SP2) using HP PC Recovery (F11). My C: was dirty and I ran a chkdsk /f /r and it was working okay after the clean. It was working fine until I was updating Windows. Many of the Microsoft Windows updates failed (wasn't even trying to install SP3 yet) and it told me to restart my computer. After the reboot the Windows XP splash screen loaded and after that the system hangs. I tried pressing F8 to restore the system to last known good configuration but again the system freezes after the Windows XP splash screen. I tried rebooting in safe mode, but the system hangs at black screen with Safe Mode in 4 corners with (XP (R) Build 2600.xpsp_sp2_qfe.090206-1236: Service Pack 2) at the top. I am only able to move the cursor, and that's it. Is there any way I can fix this without the re

Kernel32.dll error with XP SP3 and LifeCam HD-3000
I'm getting an error when opening the Microsoft LifeCam software for a new LifeCam HD-3000. I'm running XP with SP3. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, restarted PC, used different USB Ports and installed a workaround driver from MS that got the software to run but the Cam was not getting detected. The error I'm getting for LifeCam3.60.exe is: AppName: lifecam.exe AppVer: 3.60.253.0 ModName: kernel32.dll ModVer: 5.1.2600.6293 Offset: 00012fd3 The error I'm getting for the workaround driver LifeCam3.22.exe is: Webcam not detected Please Help!
Can you please explain how creating a new user account will resolve an issue with the Microsoft LifeCam software application not working? Again the camera itself works with skype and other applications. It is specifically the LifeCam Application download from Microsoft.com that does not work. There is only one account on this computer (Admin) and I don't want to risk loosing all my outlook email by following steps that won't fix a faulty application install. Thank you
So its been 2 months and I'm still waiting for a response from Srimadhwa B (perhaps he's been laid off) and a way to fix this paper weight that is sold as a webcam with Windows XP compatibility. It comes down to an Install package issue, the install packages needs to be fixed on microsoft's end. They have 2 install packages: 1: Installs but I get the error: AppName: lifecam.exe AppVer: 3.60.253.0 ModName: kernel32.dll ModVer: 5.1.2600.6293 Offset: 00012fd3 2. Is a workaround diver that gets the software installed and I don't get the kernel32.dll error any more, BUT now the Webcam is not detected by any of my USB ports. I'd prefer to get a fix for the workaround driver as all efforts to fix the original install do not resolve the kernel32.dll error. Can someone help me with getting the Workaround Driver provided by Microsoft to start detecting the webcam?
these workaround steps were provided in the links previously suggested. i tried the registy cleanup, clean boot, disable security software, etc. the application is still not working.

I have tried all the workarounds provided in the two links. Nothing works. The problem is not with the camera itself, it is with the LifeCam Application on Windows XP. The Camera Works with other applications such as Skype. But the LifeCam Application does not work on my XP Machine. What other steps can we take to correct the LifeCam Application Software as it does not run correctly on Windows XP? From what I have seen on the Web this has been a regular issue and has not been resolved for many users. Thank you, Rose
I have Norton Anti Virus installed on the computer. I have not made any changes that I am aware of to the computer prior to the LifeCam install. What kind of changes would you been looking for?

W2K & Flash Installer - SetDllDirectoryW could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll.
fully patched W2000-SP4 - trying to install or update adobe flash gives "The procedure entry point SetDllDirectoryW could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll." it says ths for both FF and IE versions of the flash installer... this has just started recently... at least since the beginning of 2012... no mcafee or norton stuff has ever been near this box... this is (currrently) only limited to installing or updating flash... NOTE: had to choose "Other/Unknown" for the windows version option in these forums because some bright spark removed the "Windows 2000" option :? :(
adobe evidently messed up because i had a version 11.something that kept trying to autoupdate to the latest... while the one above may be the last official supported version, they did release another that installed just fine... since i wrote the above, i've dug deeper and deeper into the problem... specifically it stems from the installer having been changed to use this function instead of the older locatedll (IIRC) function... flash still works just fine on w2k... my digging finally lead me to a thread in adobe's forums and a bug entry in their bug tracker... someone there found a wrapper or two which wrap the kernel32.dll file and provide missing functions... i grabbed one and was easily able to install the FF/Other and IE/AX flavors of flash player 11.2.202.233 released on Apr 15th, 2012 if i'm reading http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html correctly... the problem with sticking only with older versions is the bugs and security holes in them that are exploited daily with no obviou
Yes, but aren't the WIndows vulnerabilities since July 2010 that also affect Windows 2000 wide open? Not all of them need a vector like Flash, Java, Office etc.
I'll just post a link to the workarounds in case anyone else wants it: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/965334 Given that Windows 2000 went out of support and hasn't had any security updates from Microsoft since July 2010, I'm puzzled about why people are so concerned about having an up to date Flash Player. Any exploits are likely to be totally confused.

Any exploits are likely to be totally confused. not that i've seen... there are critters out there attempting flash, pdf and java exploits all in one go... if any one or more of those three are successful then multiple additional critters are pulled down and installed... the OS is detected and passed along in the data passed when the exploits are found to be working... this way the necessary versions of whatever nefarious critters can be installed... plugging the holes is one of the first steps in preventing infestations... detecting the bad traffic is the first step... this is where groups like Emerging Threats and the SourceFire VRT along with many others come into play... flying blindly in the middle of the highway is how one gets quickly run over ;)
Yes, but aren't the WIndows vulnerabilities since July 2010 that also affect Windows 2000 wide open? Not all of them need a vector like Flash, Java, Office etc. possibly but this is where perimeter firewalls with intrusion detection come into play... especially those which react to the intrusion and block further traffic to/from that IP... internal infections are another matter but they, too, can be caught with an internal looking IDS/IPS and tools such as OSSEC... in any case, flash, pdf, and java are required for just about all internet comms these days... one only need to have an installed vulnerable java and/or flash and visit a site with unvetted ads or even just opening an email with a link to a nefarious site to be hit by a drive-by infestation... the email one being a social engineering form and the other being an unknown drive-by... blackhole and incognito are two prolific critters out there and they appear to be sharing code and possibly a base toolkit... having up to date ve
What version of Flash Player are you trying to install? According to Adobe the last version to be supported on WIndows 2000 is 10.1.102.64. There is a link to download that on this page: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html Update: You might find it easier to download from FileHippo http://filehippo.com/download_flashplayer_ie/history/4/ You could find a later version there which still works. The SetDllDirectory function is only present in XP or later. It looks like Adobe have added this to address a library loading vulnerability.

If you have not installed Service Pack 3 yet, you will not be running the current version of Skype since SP3 is a requirement: https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA10328/what-are-the-system-requirements-for-skype You might be able do download and install Skype, but it will not launch and you will see a message like this: Fatal Error Failed to get proc address for GetLogicalProcessorInformation (kernel32.dll) That is because the GetLogiclProccessorInformation was introduced in SP3 (which has been available for almost 5.5 years). Of course if the MS Answers forums would prompt for fundamental system information when a new question is asked - like 'What is your XP version and Service Pack' we would know all this already. Hi Morris, This issue might occur kernel32.dll is corrupt that is used for programs such as Internet Explorer. Is the issue specific for Internet Explorer? If this file is damaged, deleted, or removed, the system will no longer work correctly. If a program or a service accesses User32.dll incorrectly, the program or the service will not work correctly. Let’s reset the Internet Explorer settings to try and fix the issue. Refer to the link to do so: To open Internet Options , Press Windows+R keys and type “ inetcpl.cpl ”. Hit Enter . http://windows.microsoft.com/en-ca/internet-explorer/reset-ie-settings#ie=ie-9 Note : The Reset Internet Explorer Settings feature might reset security settings or privacy settings that you added to the list of Trusted Sites. When I want to opet Viber on my desktop, appears this message: The procedure entry point GetLogicalProcessorInformation could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll . I tried all ways to solve the problem, but still i can't run viber. Please, can someone help me. :)
What OS and computer are you running? Do you have all the updates installed?
Make sure you have Windows XP Service Pack 3 installed. It's still available from Microsoft here: http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Search.aspx?q=windows%20xp%20sp3 Although, you need to be running Internet Explorer v6 or higher to access the Microsoft Update Catalog. I just installed Viber on Windows XP 32-bit with SP3 today. It does work.
Whaat? You using Windows 32bit?Go to shop and buy the new 64bit computer, and problem are solved! :)
Lifecam VX-5000 DLL issue - kernel32.dll
I have a Lifecam VX-5000 and I am running Windows XP 64 bit. It was working fine until last night. I went to open the "microsoft lifecam" exe and I got this error: AppName: lifecam.exe AppVer: 2.4.542.0 ModName: kernel32.dll ModVer: 5.2.3790.4480 Offset: 0002237e It also saved this: C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\cee9_appcompat.txt I tried top post the information but it said my msg was too long to post it. I have uninstalled the software twice and removed it from the registry and I still get the same error. I have tried 2 different registry repair software and still it won't work. I tested the camera under the Audio/Visual wizard and the camera and microphone are working so I know it's not the camera. What else can be done? Or is this going to be another windows re-install classic like I have done at least a dozen times before?
Hi, This can be due to older PCs that have older graphics chipsets that do not fully support DirectX 9.0c (specifically Pixel Shader). Such a system can fail when enumerating the effects. A work around would be to move the files starting with “04Geometric_” from the following location: C:\Program Files\Microsoft LifeCam\Effects\Visual I would recommend creating a folder in the ‘ Effects ’ folder titled ‘ VisualBackup ’. C:\Program Files\Microsoft LifeCam\Effects\’VisualBackup’ Once you have created that folder, move the files starting with “ 04Geometric _” into that new location. Hope this helps.
I have to post this txt file in 2 parts because I keep getting a msg that I have gone over 60,000 characters. Here is Part 1 of 2:
Hi, Have you tried System Restore before at the time Life-cam worked? If not, I would suggest you to perform system restore and check with the issue: How to restore Windows XP to a previous state http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306084 Note System Restore does not affect personal files, such as e-mail, documents, or photos. You can only restore files that you have deleted if you have made backups of those files. Hope this helps.
I tried everything you suggested and I still have the same above error. There were no changes done to the pc or software. In fact the pc was running and the camera was on when it happened. One second the camera was working the next my monitor had nothing but a grey screen. I had to use the reset button to reboot my computer. The error above is the complete error I get everytime I try to run the Lifecam EXE. I will try to post the txt file it saved but I don't know if it will fit.
I tried what you suggested and it still gives me the same error. I've checked to see if my kernel32.dll and kernel32.dll**32 is in their respective folders and they are.My computer just turned a year old so I don't how it could be "old". I choose to use xp 64 bit instead of these "new" windows. I don't like them. But that's a whole different subject. My camera works. I've tested it. The visuals work fine. But the program "lifecam.exe" just don't work. The error it complains about is that it has an problem and wants to close and then I get this message AppName: lifecam.exe AppVer: 2.4.542.0 ModName: kernel32.dll ModVer: 5.2.3790.4480 Offset: 0002237e So it's having issues with the kernel32.dll. I have tried everything I could possibly think of to fix this issue and apparently the exe is corrupted and requires windows to be re-installed. That I am not doing again. It takes me literally all day to get my computer back up and running to the way I had it prior to these issues.
Hi, 1. Are you aware of any changes to the computer, prior to the issue? 2. What is the complete error message? Perform the steps provided in the article: Resolve compatibility issues between LifeCam and other programs http://support.microsoft.com/kb/953692 Hope this helps.

I E Unhandled Exception - kernel32.dll
I know there seems to be a quite a few problems with kernel32.dll messages that are appearing on the forums and now I have become the victim of these messages on both my laptops running Vista SP2. I posted a question about an hour ago which seems to have completely vanished of the IE forum so here goes again. The only common thread between my laptops is that they have both been updated on 10 and 11 April 2013 with an IE 9 update KB2817183 . Is anyone aware of issues with this update or is this just purely a coincidence? No kernel32.dll messages before then but now over the last few days I am getting the message all the time. Don't want to reset IE as the problem may be with the latest IE update. Can anyone help please? Thank you
Good morning Subscription had expired before BT/McAfee installed. Norton Removal Tool was used plus restart before new install. Laptop was my elderly father's and was in such a mess with programmes/extremely slow running etc it was more effective to start again. It was pre-installed again and that was the version removed (see answer to Q.2). BT/McAffe is inclusive or chargeable depending on which broadband package you choose from BT. Thank you Paul
Hi Paul, First let’s run Internet Explorer in no add-ons mode to check if this issue appears. a. Click Start and then click on Run . b. In the Run prompt, type iexplore –extoff and press enter to open Internet Explorer in no add-ons mode. If the error doesn’t show up in no add-ons mode, then it has to be a third party add-on or a toolbar on Internet Explorer that’s causing the issue. I would suggest you to disable the add-on and uninstall the toolbar. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows7/how-to-manage-add-ons-in-internet-explorer-9 http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows-vista/uninstall-or-change-a-program Note: The steps mentioned in the above links are applicable to Windows Vista and Windows 7. If the issue appears on Internet Explorer no add-ons mode, then it’s clear that the security update installed on the computer is causing the issue. You may consider uninstalling it for time being. Please follow http://windows.microsoft.com/is-is/windows-vista/remove-an-update to unin
Good morning I must have activated pre-installed Norton because I can remember messages appearing asking me to renew subscription after a while and I didn't purchase a new subscription - clean install was on or about 27 August 2011. As Norton free trial period is usually 3 months it must have expired at the end of November 2011. Not paying for McAfee as it is included in the level of broadband package I have. I have checked Programs and Features and Google Toolbar (for IE) is installed but it doesn't appear on my IE browser (install date 12 January 2013) so it hasn't been "activated". Thank you
IN RE LAPTOP #1: 1. After completing the clean install of Windows "18 months ago" (i.e., c. September 2011?), did you Activate the originally-preinstalled Norton application (possibly free-trialware) or did you purchase a new subscription? [Generally speaking, you only get one (1) shot as such preinstalled security apps.] 2. How long had the Norton subscription (or free-trial period) been expired before you installed the BT/McAfee suite? 3. Are you paying for the BT/McAfee suite installed on Laptop #1? 4. Did you also "drive-by" install Google Toolbar (for IE) when you updated Flash Player?
So you do NOT see the behavior (error) when you start IE9 in No Add-ons mode, is that correct? Would you be interested in replacing the BT/McAfee nonsense [IMHO] with a more reliable, less problematic application that's also free (i.e., Microsoft Security Essentials )? <= THAT'S JUST A QUESTION, NOT A SUGGESTION (at least for now)!
Please answer each of the following [admittedly tedious] diagnostic questions in a correspondingly-numbered list in your very next reply, preferably Start | Control Panel | Programs and Features | View installed updates (in left-hand menu)
Good morning Thank you for your response. Here goes with the information you asked for - as this affects both my laptops the answers relate to both. 1. (a) Laptop 1 November 2008 - Laptop 2 February 2008 (b)Both use Vista 32-bit. 2. BT NetProtect Plus in association with McAfee - on going subscription started October 2012 - includes firewall and anti-spyware. 3. & 4. Norton was pre installed on both laptops but uninstalled prior to NetProtect Plus installation. 5. All updates mentioned have been installed on both computers and reinstalled on laptop 2 following Windows clean install (see answer to Q.9). 6. No working Java detected on either laptop. 7. Aobe Flash Player v11.7.700.169 installed on both laptops. 8. Chrome and never used and this is only on laptop 1 (forgot to untick box when updating Flash Player) - IE only on laptop 2. 9. Laptop 1 clean install 18 months ago - laptop 2 clean install 1 month ago. 10. Haven't used "Registry Cleaners" on either laptop. Hopefully I have s
Hello Kevin Thanks for the response, just checking now and will let you know shortly Paul
Hello Kevin Looks like the add-ons/toolbar are the problem - need to look at them as nothing has been added or changed on them for months so not sure why all of a sudden now the problem has happened. In no add-ons mode no kernell issues soon as I open a separate tab with add-ons included kernel issues start. Thanks Paul
Note: We can only troubleshoot one (1) computer at a time. Let's work on Laptop #1 first, please. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1. Had your Norton subscription already expired by the time you replaced it with BT/McAfee suite in October 2012? 2. Did you (a) uninstall the Norton application AND THEN (b) download/run the Norton Removal Tool & reboot (c) BEFORE you installed the BT/McAfee suite? 3. Why did you do a "clean install 18 months ago?" 4. When you did the clean install, was the OEM-preinstalled Norton application installed again? 5. Is the BT/McAfee suite a freebie or...?

Hi, 1. When exactly are you receiving this error message? 2. Have you made any recent software or hardware changes on the system? 3. Are you able to boot to the system in normal mode? Method 1: If this a recent issue, then you may try performing a system restore to a restore point before you were experiencing the issue. Note: When you perform System Restore to restore the computer to previous state, programs and updates you have installed are removed. To perform System restore, you may refer the following link: How to restore Windows XP to a previous state Method 2: You may also run SFC scan on the computer which would scan for corrupt system files on the computer and replace them. The scan may take some time, so be patient. Windows will repair any corrupted or missing files that it finds. If information from the installation CD is needed to repair the problem, you may be prompted to insert your Windows XP installation disk. a. Click Start, click Run, type cmd , and then click OK. b. I

"kernel32.dll"
Hi, I am running XP home edition, service pack 3. I am using IE8 and Google. Recently, a box keeps appearing on the screen saying kernel32.dll.The text in the box says "Internet Explorer raised unhandled exception in third party module and should be closed. We are sorry for inconvenience". When you close the box, it disappears, but when you do a search, it reappears. Regards
Hi, Try reinstalling the toolbar. It's possible that uninstalling/reinstalling will fix the problem (whatever it was.) Don
Hi, Determine which "third party module" (probably a browser add-on) is involved. Start Internet Explorer without add-ons by right-clicking the IE icon on the desktop. Choose Start without add-ons. or from Start> Programs> Accessories> System tools> Internet Explorer (no add-ons) If the problem goes away, an add-on is causing it. To determine which add-on is causing the problem see: IEBlog Troubleshooting and Internet Explorer’s (No Add-ons) Mode: http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2006/07/25/678113.aspx Windows Vista Help- Internet Explorer add-ons frequently asked questions: http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/Help/e85a03aa-c7c6-428e-9891-67ea76df9b7e1033.mspx Don
Hi, I have reinstalled the toolbar, and the problem remains. Regards.
Hi, I chose start and followed your instructions, and it shows Start> Programs> Accessories> System tools> Internet Explorer (no add-ons). The problem seems to arise if I use www.nectar.com toolbar. I have uninstalled this toolbar, and the problem seems to have gone. I have used this toolbar many times in the past without any problems, so I cannot understand why it is happening. Regards.
WinDirect Error: Unable to link to KERNEL32.DLL! (0xc0000142) (NOT SOLVED)
Hi! I'm new on the forums and I got this problem when I tried to play an old Windows 95 CD game. It is Donald in Maui Mallard (1996). The CD worked well and I installed the game with no problem, but when I try to run it, I get this problem: WinDirect Error: Unable to link to KERNEL32.DLL! and error code (0xc0000142). I've heard that many else have this problem too, when they are trying to play some nostalgig games, like me. :) I really would like to get it work. I have tried to run it with compatibility mode (Win 95, 640x480, only 256 colors, themes disabled, run as administrator) but it doesn't work. Still the same message. However, I got those reports that my PC would like to send to you, Microsoft, so you could use them, but I'm not sure if I can get help that way or at least it is too slow. That's why I post here. The reports: /end of the reports\ I have thought that maybe I could get a Windows 95 emulator but it may be illegal and possibly hard to get so I really hope you can do something for this. It's a hard job maybe impossible, but I'd like to get a response from you. Thank you for reading this! :D (And sorry my bad English = I'm from Finland and only 16 years old)
I know this is a really old post, but for people having the issue now, another option is to use VMware and run Windows 95 on it. I am a big classic game fan and I find it best to run a game on its original operating system. Its worth a try for any other classic gaming enthusiast.
Hi, Which operating system are you using? If you have Windows 7 or Windows Vista on your computer, then you will not be able to play this game as the game was built for older versions of Windows. If you are using Windows 7, you can download and install XP mode on your computer and then install the game on XP mode. Refer these links for more information about XP mode: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/ http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/help/videos/using-windows-xp-mode Regards, Afzal Taher-Microsoft Support. Entry Point Not Found - ResolveDElayLoadedAPI not located in KERNEL32.dll
Recently I've been experienced the error: Program.exe - Entry Point Not Found The procedure entry point ResolveDelayLoadedAPI could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll I've had it while trying to use various programs and I think it has something to do with Flashplayer. I used Dependency Walker and got this: Error: At least one module has an unresolved import due to a missing export function in an implicitly dependent module. Error: Modules with different CPU types were found. Warning: At least one delay-load dependency module was not found. Warning: At least one module has an unresolved import due to a missing export function in a delay-load dependent module. I've looked online quite a bit and I noticed similar errors but none of the fixes or problems seemed to relate to mine. I'm thinking about backing up my files and just starting a fresh install of Windows. I use Windows 7 Home Premium x64
Hi, 1. Do you remember making any changes to the computer prior to the issue? 1. What troubleshooting steps have you already tried? Please try the following methods if hasn't already tried. Method 1: keep the computer in a clean boot and check for the issue How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 Note: Please go through step 7 of the Kb to keep the computer in normal startup after fixing the issue Method 2: Reinstalling Windows is the best option to fix the issue; you can also try by performing system restore to a system restore point where the computer was working fine. Make sure that you take a backup before performing reinstalling Windows or system restore. The entry point "ConvertToGlobalHandle" in KERNEL32.dll is missing
Original title: I just bought a new computer with Windows 7 and keep getting a popup error message from "searchprotocolhost" stating that the entry point "ConvertToGlobalHandle" in KERNEL32.dll is missing. The only answer I can find refers to a problem with NT Server that is not applicable to me.
Don't understand how Cody - Support Engineer can consider this an answer! I still have the problem. Stating that I don't know what Microsoft product is causing the problem is not a solution. I still have an annoying error message popping up every couple of minutes. If he's trying to say the problem is with Outlook, then maybe he can find a Microsoft Outlook Support Engineer to address the problem since there have been 64 views but no replies to the thread in the Outlook forum!
You need to run each of those commands from an elevated command prompt. That will enable you to run the command, and check the output.
What was the output of SFC? Did it find any problems that it couldn't fix? What about CHKDSK - did it report that there were problems that it couldn't fix because it was run in read-only mode? Searching for ConvertToGlobalHandle and Outlook suggests this problem is related to Outlook, and has been around for a number of years. I haven't run into anything that suggest a ready resolution, however; in one case, an OS and Office reinstall resulted in the same behavior. x_x Might you provide a link to the referenced thread in the Outlook forum?
Neither SFC or CHKDSK reported any problems at all, none fixed or unable to fix. Here's a link to the Outlook forum, which has had 14 views but no replies. http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/officeprog/thread/d169bcaf-2fcc-4d72-aaf7-3edba8b9ac46
Ran them both from the elevated command prompt but didn't help. It seems like the error message only appears when Outlook (2003) is open, so the problem may be with it. Never had the problem with Outlook 2003 on XP, so not sure whether the problem is with Windows 7, Outlook 2003, or somewhere else. I've posted a similar question on the Outlook forum to see if anybody there can help. Thanks.
Can you monitor with Sysinternals Process Explorer or Process Monitor when SearchProtocolHost.exe starts, in relation to when you experience the message?
If you are getting this behavior with a new system, your best bet may be to contact the system maker for assistance. Else, consider running SFC /SCANNOW , and chkdsk.
I'm in this forum because the system is Windows 7. The only answer I've been able to find refers to a problem in NT Server in 2004 that is not applicable to me. Tried running sfc /scannow and chkdsk . Each time something flashed on the screen for mili-second and nothing happened. Still have the problem.
Out of curiosity - if you stop and (temporarily) disable the Windows Search service, can you reproduce the behavior?
I've disabled (temporarily) the Windows Search Service and I'm still getting the error message.

When do you get this error message? Do you get this error message with all office applications? Try to open office applications in application safe mode and verify if the same issue occurs. To open office applications in application safe mode you need to press and hold the ‘Ctrl’ key and click the Office application. For example: To open outlook in application safe, click start > All Programs > Microsoft Office > Press and hold the Ctrl key and click ‘Microsoft Office Outlook 2010’.
The procedure entry point could not be located in the dynamic link library kernel32.dll
I am running windows 7 Pro - 32 Bit on a Dell laptop xps studio 16. also Microsoft office 2007 pro. As of January 17 -2011 I started receiving this message " The procedure entry point could not be located in the dynamic link library kernel32.dll ". The first thing I did was to make sure that my computer was current with the Updates. I ran a scan for malware / spyware. Nothing found. Any suggestions will be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Geobelster , 1. When exactly do you receive this error message? 2. Does this error occur while opening any program or application? I would suggest you to rub SFC scan on the computer. SFC /scannow is a super-useful command you can use in any Windows version. When the SFC (System File Checker) command is used with the /scannow switch, the tool will scan all of the important Windows files on your computer and replace them as necessary. Missing and corrupt operating system files (like many DLL files) are arguably the biggest cause of major Windows issues. Considering that, plus the fact that SFC /scannow is completely automatic and very easy to use, the tool should usually be one of your first troubleshooting steps. Refer: How to use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or on Windows 7 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833 Thanks and Regards: I. Thank you SO very much for your reply. I am totally out of my depth as I'm not computer savvy so I will go through your steps one at a time and will let you know how I go. My computer seems to be running a lot better now too but I will save your information in case it happens again. Just want you to know that I am extremely appreciative of your wonderful help. Have a lovely day ... Regards. Hi, · When exactly do you get this error message? · Have you made any recent changes to the computer prior to this issue? the procedure entry point GetFinalPathNameByHandleW could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll
Good morning, While trying to install a program, I see the following error message on screen: The procedure entry point GetFinalPathNameByHandleW could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll The environment I'm installing on, is a Windows XP 32-bit environment. The program I'm trying to install, is a program, created by my own company, using a 32-bit self-extracting installer, which is also created by my own company, using Flexera InstallAnywhere software. No modifications have been done on the installers environment. No modifications seem being done on the installers creation environment (where the self-extracting installer is created): I have verified the Control Panel/Action Center/Reliability Monitor and no entries are present between a working and a not-working installer. As the file "KERNEL32.dll" is mentioned in the error message, I have verified its modification date, which is 30/11/2012, this should not be the cause of the problem neither. Witnin the self-extr
Those kinds of error messages mean that the program is looking "inside" the specified file (in this case kernel32.dll) trying to find a function/procedure to run called 'GetFinalPathNameByHandleW' and not finding it. Either the program is calling the wrong nonexistent function or the library file doesn't have it in there. Things are not matching up somewhere. A DLL is a Dynamic Link Library and files like kernel32.dll are sometimes just a bunch of functions/procedures/subroutines all lumped into one portable file. In a primitive way, you can use a text editor to open the kernel32.dll file (make a copy if it your desire) and search for a string 'GetFinalPathNameByHandleW' and you will not find it. You can even search for 'GetFinal' and you will not find it in the XP kernel32.dll file: But if you do the same thing on a Windows 7+ kernel32.dll you will find it: So your program is calling a function inside a DLL but that function does not exist in the Windows XP kernel32.dll. I think GetF

kernel32.dll faults
I get a fault for kernel32.dll when performing certain functions. Sometimes when using the right click mouse key the program dumps and says kernel32.dll is the fault. One program will not open but shuts down immediately and give the same kernel32.dll fault message. I have tried several registry cleaner programs but they do not fix the problem. It started after installing Norton INternet Security 2009. but of course, they won't do anything because they say kernel32.dll is a system file. My question centers around the reinstalling and overwriting of kernel32 from one of the dll fixit sites. Since it is a system file, I have concerns doing this will stop the computer from working and I really do not want to reinstall the operating system and all programs as it takes FAR to long. Is it OK to overwrite kernel32?? thanks

Do you have Skype installed? All I have in my notes for that message is about Service Pack 2 systems with Skype installed and Skype is either configured to start automatically or when launching Skype manually (the message is coming from Skype). After an update to Skype, the new version of Skype calls this function in the kernerl32.dll file: GetLogicalProcessorInformation But that function was not in the Service Pack 2 kernel32.dll file - it didn't show up until the Service Pack 3 version of the kernel32.dll file, hence the error message. So you must upgrade to SP3 if you plan on using the latest version of Skype. According to HP your system HP Vectra has a genuine Intel processor (not AMD) so you don't have to worry about the part of the previous reply that talks about that. Service Pack 3 has been out for over 6 years so there is no good reason I can think of for not installing it but maybe you have one. Personally I don't even like to work on SP2 systems since so many issues and prob
Well, there is something else that wants to use GetLogicalProcessorInformation and maybe you can figure out what it is and tell us. I figured out the Skype problem by selectively disabling one startup program at a time in MSCONFIG (and rebooting each time) until the problem went away. Then when we enabled Skype again, the problem came back. This troubleshooting method is called fault isolation (or process of elimination). Maybe you can do that too and tell us what the offending program is or if it happens when you attempt to launch (double click) some application to start it. If things used to work okay, it is probably something that you just updated lately. But whatever program now needs it is not going to find in in SP2. Why do you think you can't upgrade your XP to SP3? Maybe somebody else will tell us if you can install SP3 on MCE 2002 or not. Looking around on the Internet, I am not sure. Please answer the following questions as best you can: What is your system make and model? What is your XP Version and Service Pack? Does the afflicted system have a working CD/DVD drive (internal or external)? Do you have a genuine bootable XP installation CD that is the same Service Pack as your installed Service Pack (this is not the same as any Recovery CDs that came with your system)? If the system used to work properly, what do you think happened since the last time it did work properly? When do you see this message? Do you have Skype installed and see the message trying to launch Skype? The GetLogicalProcessorInformation function was introduced in the Service Pack 3 kernel32.dll so if you are still running SP2 you need to upgrade to SP3 (which has been out for almost 6 years). If you are running an AMD proc
That answers some of the questions - we know the system make and model, the OS version and XP Service Pack and you do have an AMD processor. I don't know why I thought you had Media Center, but your msinfo32 says you have XP Home. I don't see any reason why you can't upgrade to SP3 but maybe somebody else does and will let us know. It is interesting to note that by asking the right questions up front to get fundamental system information, we can avoid the panic of the non boot scenario that you are likely to face after upgrading to SP3. If the MS Answers forums would prompt for fundamental system information when a new question is asked, you would be done by now. You can go ahead and download and install SP3, but before you reboot, you need to check to see if you have the Intel Processor Driver Service (IntelPPM) and if you do, disable it before you reboot. If you don't, are likely to get this common error often seen on AMD systems after installing SP3 the next time you restart your

when launching the internet a box appears with a message saying kernel32.dll, if i click on send a report it shuts the internet down. Does anyone know what kernel 32.dll is please. Not sure which version of internet explorer i am using
Hi, Kernel32.dll is a file present in 32-bit versions of the Microsoft Windows operating system. It is essential to the correct functioning of the operating system, and is one of the files that load when the operating system is started. Its purpose is to make system functions available to programs. The .dll at the end of the file's name is short for "Dynamic Link Library", a kind of file that contains code used by other programs, but which cannot be run by it. I appreciate if you could help me with more information. 1. When exactly do you receive this issue message? What is the exact/complete error message? http://windows.microsoft.com/en-IN/internet-explorer/which-version-am-i-using#ie=ie-9 Let us know the status of the issue.

Random application crashes related to kernel32.dll , kernelbase.dll and ntdll.dll
I am experiencing random appcrahes in my Windows 7 laptop, I am working the following configuration: Laptop : Asus K55VM R500V Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit - SP 1 - Build 1130 Problem: Crashes happen on random times with random applications. So this can be either my Steam Client, Skype, Google Chrome, QQ International Messenger or Windows Explorer. It doesn't matter if I use all of them at the same time or only two or what I am doing with my laptop. Often when I play heavy videogames (i.e. Far Cry 3) my laptop is fine but simply using my email can cause a crash. I would really appreciate any support or suggestions, should you require any other information or error logs please let me know. Thanks in advance!
Hi Anannya, I tried your suggestions. I replaced my dll files and tried to assign them to my register. Following your steps was not possible as I got an error code when trying to use the command in Run, I however managed to do it in Command Prompt and so far I did not got any problems! Thank you very much for your help! Regards, Joep
Hi Joep , You are welcome! We are glad that the issue is resolved. Thank you for sharing the information.
Hi Joepvan der Poel, The issue appears to be because of two system files namely to kernel32.dll and ntdll.dll Since you did a clean install of Windows 7 and still the issue reappears it seems like the version of Windows installed on your computer and on the media aswell is corrupt. Therefore I would suggest you to get the copy of these two files kernel32.dll and ntdll.dll from another trust worthy Windows 7 computer running the same version, edition and service pack and paste it to c:drive>Windows>System32 folder and re-register the files and check if the issue persists. To re-register the files follow these steps: a. Click on the "Start" menu, click "Run". b. In the "Open" box, type " kernel32.dll /regserver ", without quotes and then press ENTER. c. For ntdll.dll type " ntdll.dll/ regserver", without quotes and then press ENTER. Hope it helps. Please get back with the issue status and also let us know if you face any Windows issue in future and we will be happy to help.

Hi Malrob, For how long have you had this issue? Method 1: You may perform a SFC scan and check if it lists any issues. To http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/System-Restore-frequently-asked-questions Hope this helps.
Thanks for your reply, unfortunately SFC does not find anything wrong. My restore points only go back to sp1 installation, which I installed hoping it would cure the problem. The error comes up when it is running direct3d 10 batch assesment. Thanks.

Hi Loubag, 1. What is the exact error message you receive when you attempt to install Service Pack 3 (SP3) for Office? I would suggest you to try the following steps: Step 1: Manually download the update from the download link below and then try to install it Description of Office 2003 Service Pack 3 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923618 Save the update on the desktop Step 2: Disable the security software present on the computer temporarily Right on the security software icon on the notification area on the taskbar and disable it. If this option is not available you may want to check the documentation supplied by your anti-virus program manufacturer for disabling it. Important: Enable the security software back once everything is done. Now try to install the update saved on the desktop, let me know if it works or you need further assistance. It is very likely that there is a copy kernel32.dll file in %SystemRoot%\system32\dllcache. (%SystemRoot% is usually set to C:\WINDOWS.) One may restore this file by booting into the Microsoft Windows XP™ Recovery Console (MWRC) and copying the file from the DLLcache. . use the MAP command to find the jump drive's letter and copy kernel32.dll into \WINDOWS\system32. Good luck!

error corrupt file: windows\system32\kernel32.dll (Windows 10)
I am running Windows 10 and continue to receive an error that I have a corrupt file for windows\system32\kernel32.dll . The fixes I see suggest reinstalling this file from a disk. I had Windows 7 but was forced to upgrade to Windows 10 via a download from Microsoft. 1) Where do I find this file to reinstall since I don't have a disk? 2) Do I have to reinstall Windows 10? 3) Is this a common problem other computer users are having? Thank for your help.
Hi Kathleen, System file corruption is one of the possible reasons why you are having an error with the kernel32 .dll file. To troubleshoot the issue, we suggest running the System File Checker tool to help you fix missing or corrupted system files . To do this, simply follow the steps in this article . Should you encounter the same issue, you can perform a custom install of Windows 10 by following the instructions in this forum article . This is to keep your files while reinstalling the operating system. If you need a copy of Windows 10 , you can create a Windows 10 installation media by downloading the tool here . Regards.

No. No. No. The system isn't compromised, it is a -fresh- installation. The issue arises the moment the fresh installation is occurred and you try to access IE in order to grab driver updates or the like. This is also related to windows update not working and/or being broken.

Open your command prompt (CMD) under administrative access (If not by default). Type sfc /scannow You will be prompted to put your windows XP Pro CD into the drive. This should scan for and replace system files that didn't get installed properly with your reinstallation, fixing your issue. Good luck.
1. It gives me the same error if I try to start in No Add-Ons mode. 2. I can't get to the Internet so I can't run the Fix it 3. No protection right now. This is a fresh copy of Windows XP. 4. Yes it did have Norton on at one time but it has had a rebuilt since then. 5. No it did have and bunch of pop ups and said there was a virus on the computer and needed to run a scan. this is a clients computer so i'm not sure what he did. I did go to regedit in safemode and removed the files for the pop up virus protection.
Internet Explorer AppCrash error, fault module kernel32.dll
I am encountering problems with a web application that appears to be sporadically crashing for some users. The program gathers and formats a moderate amount of data from an internal source. It works fine most of the time, but occasionally when the user comes back to the page or tries to open up a new IE tab or window after running it, they receive the following error message and all IE windows shut down. I've tried having the users run without add-ons and the problem is still occurring. Any assistance or guidance would be helpful. Thanks, Curtis
Hi Curtis, Here are some steps you can try to help resolve your issue: STEP 1 : To help determine Let me know how this works and if you have any questions, Steve <> Microsoft Partner
What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)? What third-party firewall (if any)? Has a(nother) Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on this machine (e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought it)? ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) ~ MS MVP (IE, Mail, Security, Windows & Update Services) since 2002 ~ Disclaimer: MS MVPs neither represent nor work for Microsoft
PA Bear makes a good point in this blurb.. namely you can have issues if you are running multiple malware software simultaneously and so letting us know what you are running would help to diagnose if this is your issue. This is especially true if you are using more than one type of anti-virus software that services the same type of malware. For instance, running Spybot and Ad-aware would be a recipe for potential problems such as you are facing as they both are primarily used for spyware. So let us know. In the meantime, the slew of troubleshooting steps I offered above has a good chance of if not resolving outright, getting us a lot closer to resolving your issue. So let us know what happens when you work through those steps. Thanks, Steve <> Microsoft Partner

could not be located in the dynamic link library kernel32.dll'?
the procedure entry point could not be located in_the dynamic link library kernel32.dll' Please help me. What do I have to do?
If you're getting this on Server 2008/Vista or earlier, it's probably because it's not supported: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2809945 For anything from Office 365 or Office 2013, you need Win 7 or later, no exceptions. Some non-business apps that still rely on the Office 2010 underlying components will still work, but I think all Business apps have been updated to 2013 components. Hope that helps!
The thing about that is (and I agree with you, btw) is that the OP is gone, so the poster from MS usually has no choice but to mark something as the answer, and they tend to assume theirs was the right one. However, in this case, it's obviously not, and this poster meant well, but failed to understand or research the question at all, so we're left with bad advice. If OP came back, he could mark the "answer" as "not the answer" and re-open the thread, so to speak, so actually OP has control over this. The bigger problem is that people open threads, then bounce out after either giving up, or solving the problem themselves, never posting the resolution or marking any actual answer. There has to be a better way to handle it, but as it stands, more of the responsibility lands on the shoulders of the OP than on the MS guy helping, in my opinion.

on my computer I wanted to play a game called Fortnite but when I try to go on it say's could not locate point entry in the dynamic link library kernel32.dll what do I do now
I have tried the above mentioned solutions but I am still receiving the same error when I try to install Microsoft Office 365 on a computer with Microsoft Vista installed. As a side note, I have successfully installed Microsoft Office 365 on another computer with Windows 8 installed.
An amazing "Answer". I have about a dozen ' The procedure entry point _________________ could not be located in the dynamic link library kernel32.dll' type error messages in my notes and NONE of them are "answered" by clean boot, safe mode or sfc /scannow. These kinds of ideas are the "I have no idea what the problem is or how to fix it" suggestions. An "Answer" should mean successfully resolved - except in the MS Answers forums.

procedure entry point could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll
Well, it finally happened - a hard drive crash. (Intel 320 series SSD with latest firmware installed - thanks Intel!) The hard drive was restored to functionality with the Intel SSD Toolbox secure erase function. I then tried to recover the system and data on the drive from my Windows Home Server backup (HP Mediasmart WHS v1). Everything went pretty well, but now when I boot up, I get errors from various programs loaded at startup: "The procedure entry point GetCPInfO could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll" I get about 10 of these errors for various programs loaded at startup - TWebCamera.exe, concentr.exe, iTunesHelper.exe, etc... I tried uninstalling/re-installing these programs but many do no uninstall and/or re-install correctly. The system is Windows 7 64 bit. When restoring, I created a partition for the system. From what I read, windows 7 uses a 200mb hidden partition. The backup on WHS had 2 volumes: a "System" volume that was listed as 0.34 GB,
Thanks, I'll give it a try.
The error indicates a version mismatch between various system components/dlls. If the system, in its totality, is installed on the SDD, I would disconnect every other drive, delete everything on the SDD and restore just the boot/system drive from the home server to the now raw SDD. In fact, if I had original install DVD for Windows 7, I would install from that rather than restore from the home server. Then, when all is working, I would reattach any other drives and restore user files from the home server. Applications woould have to be installed anew from souirce files. Just ideas for consideration. Good luck. Tom Ferguson

Also include the names of all other "security" applications installed, including firewalls. I'm using a computer which based on Microsoft Windows XP, Professional K, Version 2002, Service Pack3 but it has an issue. It is notifying pop-up including that there's no start-point in NvBackend.exe and it also represents there's no procedure-start-point IntializeCriticalSectionEx in DLL KERNEL32.dll. After I've checked it, I tried to find solution on the internet, they answered a similar case it would be solved after removing files are closely connected with Graphic Card(NVdia) which located in program files below C drive. I tried and removed, but it is still showing. Would you help me? Thank you!

What is " Regiservo?" Did you mean RegServ ? Chances are you're seeing the effects of an ongoing hijackware infection!
Hello Jacquie I posted exactly the same question on 18 April 2013 having received exactly the same message and the same Unicode details. Just in case you haven't seen the reply (copied below) I got from Kevin D Souza, Support Engineer, which suggests a different issue/solution! ************************************ Hi Paul , First let’s run Internet Explorer in no add-ons mode to check if this issue appears. I would suggest you to disable the add-on and uninstall the toolbar. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows7/how-to-manage-add-ons-in-internet-explorer-9 http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows-vista/uninstall-or-change-a-program Note: The steps mentioned in the above links are applicable

Hi SkyWalker, Thanks for posting in Microsoft Communities. From the problem description I understand that you are not able to play Call of Duty Black Ops 2. Provide the following information: · Have you made any changes on the computer prior to the issue? · ‘Restart. Thanks.
@ AlexCovic - You must either be a child or idiot, I'm not really sure which or both. I buy my software & Games, and your implication to the contrary is offensive. Only a total IDIOT would post on here for help about a, how did you put it? "cooked/pre-installed, cracked, illegal version of the game"...
Thanks for your reply Debbie. I have since gone back to Windows-7, giving up on all the compatibility issues with Windows-8. For some reason, even attempting to run under "Compatibility Mode" under Windows-8 Pro seems to either not be working, or there are just too many defference in the two OS's.
You are trying to run a cooked/pre-installed, cracked, illegal version of the game on a PC on which it was not orignially installed. The Game executable throws an exception, because it does not recognize the different environment it is running on. ... and some Microsoft Community Members & Mods are trying to help you out by giving you "0 helpful" advice (as it says, next to their answers). Solution: buy a legal copy of the game, install and run it instead. It won't throw this kind of error code at you. Was THIS answer helpful? You should be glad Activision has not enough lawyers to hunt down everyone. Haha ...
Hi SkyWalker, In addition to Sandeep's post, it's possible there may be a corrupt system file. Let's also try doing an SFC/Scannow: 1. Type cmd on the Start screen. 2. Right-click on it and select Run as administrator. 3. Type the following command and press Enter: sfc /scannow Hope this helps!
I do appreciate the help, but I have since given up on Windows-8 Pro and gone back to Windows-7 Ultimate.

Explorer Has Caused An Error In Kernel32.dll
Okay... I recently had installed Vista Ultimate Upgrade over an existing factory install of Home Premium. I don't know if this issue occured prior to the upgrade or not, as I dual boot Vista and XP. Understably, I tend to use XP ninety percent of the time. Anyway, if I explore folders using Windows File Explorer or Powerdesk I keep getting "Explorer Has Caused An Error In Kernel32.dll" on right click of ANY files. I also get an error when choosing the "Device Manger" shortcut from the system window. But, I can open Device Manager from the Control Panel list. I've researched to my heart's content. I can't for the life of me get any resolve to this issue. HELP!!! Please. If any more info is required I will comply. Thank you. Marcel, OK, I know it's late now, but someone else might find this during web searching .... The command is "sfc /scannow" - i.e.don't put any space between "/" and "scannow"! The command is "sfc", not "scannow", which is an option to sfc.
