Hello im having the same problem but when i open up a software installation program i get this weird text message on my screen with;"C:\Windows\System32\ImgUtil.dll either cannot run on windows or there is an error" Help Please!!!

I know a lot of people tend to recommend Malwarebytes in addition to Windows Defender Security Center but I have never been able to understand why. Back in the old days having a separate Malware Checker made sense (at least, once Microsoft stopped supporting their OneCare option) but with the introduction of Windows Defender Security Center it really isn't necessary. And can interfere with the Security Center working as it is intended. .dll is the extension for drivers. Technically it stands for "Dynamic Link Library" (which means that saying dll library is like saying dynamic link library library) and it is pretty much synonymous with the .exe (or executable) extension. I would suggest you uninstall Malwarebytes and try running Windows Defender Antivirus (and Antimalware, btw) again. Malwarebytes tends to come with a trial subscription that will shut Defender off by default.

Unable to download sp75979.exe.  After clicking on "Click Here" I choose "Download folder" A small rectangle appears on lower left, it gradually fills from the left in blue.  When the blue has filled the entire rectangle, clicking on it opens a small window with 3 choices "Clear", "Show in Folder" or cancel.  Only the "Cancel" is in bold.  No choice to view in Folder and activate.  I've tried several times, with same result, waiting about 10 minutes to  complete download. If I open the "Download Folder" directly, SP75979.exe does not appear.  Is there another way to get this file?

I think I didn't do my 1st reply correct. I d/loaded the H.P.sp75979. Created a Restore Point, and did install exe. Restarted p.c. GREAT not seeing that dang error message and of course it would work coming from H.P.  But, since you posted the link, if I didn't have come across it. Just chiming in here with another experience...  It was both Outlook and Excel 2010 that didn't work for me.  All the other Office apps worked fine.  Here is the exact error message I received: EXCEL.EXE - System Error The program can't start because MSVCR90.dll is missing from your computer.  Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem. Rebooting, running Windows Update and Repairing the Office 2010 application did nothing to fix it. I uninstalled the Security Update for Microsoft Excel 2010 and like you guys that made Excel work fine.  Outlook is still broken though and there doesn't appear to be a similar security update for that which I can see yet.

I uninstalled a recent excel update. fixed the issue right away Thx

this error was driving me crazy. After installations and unistallations, i realized that this issue was starting after updates from microsoft. As soon as a specific update was install the problems would start. I started unistalling updates. The issue is not SP1 but a specific security update for excel 2010. As soon as i unistalled it, the issue was gone. If you click programs and features and then "view installed updates" you will see a security update specifically for Excel 2010. Unistall it and everything will be good again :)

This Solved all my problems after a re-Install of Windows 10. I had all my simulators/games installed on a separate drive so I wouldn't lose the install and progress. I ran into a boot problem and as said above re-installed windows 10. Upon creating shortcuts and testing each game I ran into a few games and  wouldn't start cause of various DXd3d_# error's. Hi, I don't know much about specific games... some may have different requirements... I think that once the package has extracted, it will install to the System32 folder... It's like a ZIP File... you just tell it where to extract to... just so you can find it... Then install it like any other program... I put mine in the Downloads folder along with the original file...

I am glad it worked for you. Thanks for the reply Follow the info on those Programs. Make sure you update them once a fortnight. And scan with them occasionally to make sure you have not accidentally picked some rubbish on the Net. Spybot search & destroy can be a bit quirky to work with sometimes, and it asks about giving permissions to alter registry Keys when you install a NEW Program. If it annoys you too much, uninstall it through Start> Programs> Its listing  there has an Uninstaller in ther drop down menu for it. when ever I turn the machine on. When I try to launch AVG antivirus. I have updated the C++ Microsoft Visuak C++ x86 AND x64 Redistributable to the most current version. I have checked to mae sure the MSVCR110.dll /& msvcpo110.dll are in the System32 and SysWOW64 folders and still cannot run the AVG antivrus. I even did an AVG removal tool and tried to reinstall AVG and got the same error. I then rolled back my system by using restore to a previous date and am still getting the error. The error message says I cannot run AVG because the two DLL's are missing.

A little Googling says that the sal3.dll file belongs to OpenOffice and is not an XP file, so you do not have an XP problem, you have an OpenOffice problem Have you recently installed or changed anything in your OpenOffice configuration (like an update). The SweetFX Shader Suite is not an application, it is a custom SMAA/FXAA Injector for games. It is useful for sharpening textures, adding color, smoothing aliased edges, overall improving the graphic fidelity of games. No big deal for DirectX 11.2 to be incompatible, I guess.

Hello Steve, Sorry for the inconvenience you are facing. Can you share when exactly are you getting this error? D3d11.dll errors are most commonly caused when two programs share the same .dll file. When a program is deleted sometimes it will delete the .dll file associated with both programs. Errors can also occur from a faulty d3d11.dll file or incorrect versions of the file. I suggest you to uninstall the programs you have installed recently and check if you get the error. Let us know how it goes.

Hi Rajith, I never even got to install the game, the installer software (which is a peer to peer client blizzard uses to download the game content) is the program which is triggering the error. Have tried drivers, uninstalled and re-installed. Have already been through the windows article on diagnosing problems. End result, tells me my computer has no errors. I too had this problem and tried most of what people suggested. The problem for me was that the d3d11.dll in windows\system32 was the old version. Installing KB2834140 manually didn't work even though the IE11 installing always tried to reinstall it. Same for KB2882822. What fixed the problem for me was to install the Platform Update for Windows 7 SP1, KB2670838. This update replaced the old d3d11.dll

I'm seeing these same symptoms in our environment. Did you ever come to a root cause or solution?

This is for a silent install deployment, using the full installer with command line switches. The deployment will be for several thousand devices and we want to manage through our desktop management solution The prerequisite test fails, as seen in the log yet the prerequisite hotfix is installed. An interactive install works, showing that the hotfix is downloaded and reinstalled, however that is not an option. I hope this clarifies the situation David

All that it would have done is not defrag the drive fully. However, If your drive is too full you need to move some data to another storage  location as, in addition to not being able to defrag and optimise the HDD properly, which will make things run slower, you may be getting read errors from not having adequate free space. 'Optimising' is important as this moves related files closer together, which helps with read speed and prevents HDD 'thrashing'. There is also a possibility that your Temp folder is full, or has temp files that are conflicting somehow. I generally delete files in  my User\AppData\Local\Temp folder manually, but Disk Cleanup will delete most of the files that are not still in use, as well as cleaning up a lot of other stuff. I've managed to get Fallout 4 working again, though i'm not entirely sure what did it, it was uninstalled most of the time, then i reinstalled it and it works fine. However everything else, running the program from that wiki page as well as the direct x program, they did not fix battle.net not working, and the LOOT(Load Order Optimization Tool) Gives the same error and doesn't work, however the Fallout4Edit tool ALSO gives the same error....but then it also launches and works fine. NexusModManager is working without problems too. I've rebooted between uninstalling and installing, and also ran the repair tool, but none of these fixes seem to have solved the actual problem. Also Battle.net was absolutely working prior to this issue, as were all my other programs i've mentioned, and there were no installed updates even from this month. i have the same problem but with Skyrim and the witcher 2. Didnt have the error in either one of the game in windows 8, but i also didn't see the errors until i used sweetfx mod for them.

This may be a problem with SweetFX...if anyone in this thread has it installed, uninstall it(some cases uninstalling the game will leave it in the directory). It doesn't work with DX 11.2 yet(tested with 3 different games). Had this happened with Bioshock Infinite, and I found manually uninstalling the same folder and verifying game cache to be the quickest way to fix it. Please note: A full steam uninstall left sweet FX in the Bioshock directory and did not work. I would re install it only to have sweet FX still in there. This was driving me nuts for weeks.

Same issue here, the directx dll files are at fault. I tried putting old directx 11 dlls in my games folder (Battlefield 3, Crysis3 and other Dx11 games) and the games could start (and then crashed because of others DX dlls issues). Given that it's impossible to install and replace the files in System32 with another version of directx (like the web installer one), it seems we're stuck.

I have the same issue. I still couldn't find a solution. -I get this error when I launch Metro 2033: "The procedure entry point createdxgifactory2 could not be located in the dynamic link library c:\windows\system32\d3d11.dll" Game launches after the error on dx9 but i can not move the mouse cursor. -Metro Last Light launches without this error but I can not move the mouse in this game either. (I am not sure if it is related to this issue) -Reinstalled Windows 8.1 Preview. -Tried both AMD Driver 13.6 Beta 2, and AMD Windows 8.1 Preview driver 13.15.1. -Reinstalled latest Physx drivers. -Updated directx to latest. -Reinstalled some games i had problem with (Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light). -Everything appears to be fine in dxdiag.

I would suggest you to update the display drivers from computer manufacturer website and check if it helps. Also uninstall the reinstall the game after updating display drivers. Anil I've had a similar issue when trying to run Steam (the popular game platform) after installing the windows 8.1 preview. I get an error message that reads "your graphics hardware be compatible with directX10 or direct x11, and have DirectX runtime installed" I had no problems running steam prior to downloading the 8.1 beta

I have entirely the same problem over here. I can't get Crysis 3 or Battlefield 3 to work, I am also sure that my Graphics Card supports Direct X 11. I used to play the same games in Windows 7 but in win 8 I am unable to run them.

Hi hishamkafafy: What is the name and version number of your software, and have you confirmed that it is compatible with a Vista SP2 operating system? See the Lifewire article How to Fix D3d11.dll Not Found or Missing Errors .  Do you have a d3d11.dll file (DirectX Direct3D 11 Runtime library) located in the C:\Windows\System32 folder, and does the error message disappear if you try to re-install the program as suggested in that Lifewire article?  From my 32-bit Vista SP2 computer: If re-installing the program doesn't help, please let us know the make/model of your computer, your antivirus program and default browser.  If you have a discrete graphics (video) card (e.g., NVIDIA, AMD, etc.) let us know the make/model and current driver version.  Post back if you need help finding the driver version for a graphics card in the Windows Device Manager.
