Strange Windows 8 disk issues causing software to crash
I'm having a very strange issue with my new Windows 8.1 laptop. Any time I upload a file in a browser it crashes within seconds. It doesn't matter if I use Opera, Chrome or Firefox. Also, some applications crash directly after launching them such as SmartFTP, SnagIt Editor and Jing crashes when I save a file. Also, when opening This PC in a file upload dialog sometimes it will keep loading for hours. I've tried to get more information by clicking Debug after a crash and here are some of the errors I've noticed when debugging Opera and Jing: Unhandled exception at 0x66AAF19F (apphelp.dll) in opera.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation writing location 0x0C9E0DA8. Unhandled exception at 0x7720A604 (msvcrt.dll) in Jing.exe: 0xC00000FD: Stack overflow (parameters: 0x00000001, 0x0F6E2FFC). NsGroup=windows8 ApplicationIdentity=C7C9F04F5D2127C1BA59AC3D486E6F21
Creating a new user account did resolve the issue. Is there a way to recover from this without having to reinstall all my applications? It usually takes about 3 to 4 days of nearly full-time work before I get things running right and it's not guaranteed the same thing won't happen again if I can't figure out the root cause.
The main culprit is seems was OpenDrive. After uninstalling it, restarting, reinstalling the other apps that had issues, everything seems to work fine.
The same issues are present in safe mode. Safety scanner did not uncover any malicious files. I will try creating a new user account now and see if that resolves the issue. FYI I replaced the secondary hard disk with an SSD but that didn't resolve the problem either.
Hi Ken, This issue might occur due to some third party programs and sometimes due to a malware also. You might also face this issue due to a corrupt user profile. Follow these methods to resolve the issue: Method 1 : Step 1 http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows/create-user-account#create-user-account=windows-8 Let us know the results. Hi Ken, Glad to know that the issue has been resolved. If you have any further issues on the computer, please post your question regarding Windows and we will be happy to help you.

Canon Image Transfer Utility (IUT) has stopped working
Canon IUT comes with my wi-fi digital point and shoot camera. It is supposed to load on my computer at bootup and automatically download photos remotely uploaded to Canon's cloud. However, it will not run. I have been to Canon support and they have no record of any other instances of this problem, which I believe since my online searches also show no other instances. I have eliminated my Norton Security Suite as an issue; IUT will not load whether Norton is enabled or disabled. I have copied below the contents of the WER file for this error. Can anyone decipher this and point me in a productive direction for solving this problem? I apologize for the long post. I was going to attach the WER file, but could not figure out how to do it. Thanks, Bob Version=1 EventType=CLR20r3 AppPath=C:\Program Files (x86)\Canon\ImageTransferUtility\ImageTransferUtility.exe ReportDescription=Stopped working
WN Other than re-installing the software the best advice is to contact cannon as we have no idea about their software.
Hello, friends, You made this post two years ago and I supposed that you solved this problem. Nevertheless, my break-through was adding new device under the control panel. I turned on Wi-Fi on my PowerShot G7 X and found Windows was trying to add my camera as a new device. I double-clicked the camera name and everything thereafter went automatically as I wished. I was using (and am using) Windows 10 TH2 32bit.
Application Crash Error for application-Unity Pro7
Hi, I am using Windows 7 Pro 64 bit system. While working on the application Unity Pro 7 it crashes. The details in the application error log are as follows. Can you please help me in identifying the issue and what's causing it..? Thanks Ronnie. Actually, I am after Unity Pro software from another provider and not the one you mentioned. I just wanted to understand what's causing the crash, which I hoped the log file should be able to point it out but it's too much in there for my little brain to understand. So, I thought may be community forum can provide me some leads on it and I can investigate further. Regards. -Arun Sahani

Also, although the windows.storage.dll appears to be causing the crash it may be another module actually causing the crash. I might suggest to try to obtain a user mode dump which has the potential to pinpoint the cause. You can configure Windows to create user-mode dumps. Create a System Restore Point first. If you copy and paste the following in Notepad and save as a .reg file (save with the .reg extension and give it any name such as dump.reg), then right-click the .reg file and select "Merge" to add to the registry, a .dmp file at the time explorer.exe crashes should be created in the C:\CrashDumps folder: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps\explorer.exe] "DumpFolder"=hex(2):43,00,3a,00,5c,00,43,00,72,00,61,00,73,00,68,00,44,00,75,\ 00,6d,00,70,00,73,00,00,00 After Explorer (explorer.exe) crashes, can you then make the .dmp file available (provide link) via a public folder on OneDrive (SkyDrive) or s

Windows Explorer crashes randomly
Since I have upgraded my PC to Windows 10, Windows explorer keep crashing randomly. Hi Auggy, Thank you for your response. I have renamed the ADIST64.dll to ADIST64.old but Windows Explorer still crashes. I have also downloaded Shexview and disabled all Adobe related .dll but the problem still persists. This is driving me crazy.
Try temporarily uninstalling AVG and see if the issue resolves. Afterwards you could reinstall AVG using the latest version.
I have just tried to uninstall AVG and the explorer still crashes. Any other ideas? Thank you for your help Auggy.
Hi Auggy, here is the latest dump file s. Note that I have re-installed AVG.
Can you provide the latest dump files since renaming the ADIST64.dll.
Can you provide the latest dump files?
Hi Auggy, Here is the latest dump files . Thanks!
Hi Sudeep, Thank you for your reply. Any search (word documents, jpg etc..) on any folders on my c:/ drive or network drive will eventually cause windows explorer to crash and restart. My CRM (ACT!) crashed when I try to open a query file, the Windows Event viewer crashed when I tried to save the error report, Outlook crashed when I tried to attached a file to an email etc.. It's basically any applications that requires to open Windows Explorer to browse to a file. I can't think of any new software except maybe CCleaner and some drivers and bios update from DELL that was installed after the upgrade. I tried to boot in safe mode but Windows Explorer still crashes. I performed a clean boot to with no more luck. I really tried everything I could think of, including reinstalling Windows 10. I am out of ideas.
Hi Vincent, I realize the inconvenience that you are facing with Windows 10 and will certainly help you. To assist you better on the issue, I request to provide information on the following questions: When you say “search for items on my C drive”, which items are you referring to? Are there any specific items which is causing the crash? Which third party programs are you referring to? They might be the cause of crash. Did you make any changes/installed any programs after the upgrade? The causes of ntdll.dll error messages can vary greatly. However, most ntdll.dll errors result from a corrupt or damaged version of the ntdll.dll file itself, corrupt hardware drivers, or issues between Windows and other programs. I suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below and check if it helps: Method 1: Boot into Safe Mode and check if the issue persists . Click on the link below and follow the instructions to boot into safe mode: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17419/windows-7-advanced-s
Outlook 2016 crashes using it with Exchange Server 2010
Hi, I'm running a laptop and desktop with Outlook 2016 on Windows 10. I have 2 profiles for Outlook, 1 for work connecting to Microsoft Exchange and 1 for charity work connecting to an Exchange Server 2010. The 1st profile works without any problem. The 2nd one worked for a short while on both the laptop and the desktop, but crashes after a few weeks of using it. I can access the charity emails on Outlook 2013 on Windows 7 and Windows 10 without a problem. The thread 0x1a60 has exited with code -2146233082 (0x80131506). The program ' OUTLOOK.EXE' has exited with code -2146233082 (0x80131506).

Entering web page address in New Contact - Outlook 2016
I have crashing (Microsoft Outlook has stopped working) and closing outlook, every time when entering a web page address. I have POP3 account and Outlook 365 Small Business Premium on new windows 10 computer. It started happening soon after I got new computer and migrated emails and contacts to it. I have tried all of the things in https://support.office.com/en-us/article/outlook-not-responding-stopped-working-freezes-or-hangs-5c313d04-64af-4441-82d2-44e5a43eee5a with no help, including making a new account and transferring all to new account, repairing the .pst files numerous times, running outlook in safe mode (note my contacts folder doesn't show in safe mode so can't try I going to contacts). I also have run the Offcat program and it doesn't show anything except it says that one update needs to be done but office update and update through outlooks File/Office Account/Office Updates shows everything is up to date. I couldn't fix it, Microsoft tech support for office 365 logged into my computer couldn't fix it and an IT guy I hired couldn't fix it. The IT guy put me back to Office 2013 and everything now works. I will stay with 2013 until I have the urge, time and insane thinking to try 2016 again. Good luck with the issue, let me know if you figure out anything.
The previous reply just sent by itself, more Microsoft frustration: I have followed all your advice with no help. FYI, how I have my Outlook 365 business pro set up: I am using POP3 with 9 email accounts for two different companies with two different domain names. In my new company I have 20 email folders under the Inbox with 12 of them as a sub folder to one of the email folders. I have 7 main Contact folders with 40 sub contacts under these folders. I have all the other folders created when a new PST data file is created. I have a second Data PST file I use for my old company emails which has 12 email folders but I don't use the contacts folder in this data file. And last I have an archive data file. The following is what I did per your instructions. I exported all my emails, contacts calendar, rules to separate PST files for each where each PST file also included sub folders. I also exported one of my contacts folders called "Vendor" to it's own PST file and CSV file as this
Did you find a fix for this? I have been trying to fix this same issue on a users computer for a few days now with no luck. I have also just discovered that my own outlook gives the same crash when trying to enter a web address into a new contact...very frustrating.

If spi has failed you need to address this first. Assuming you have a big box PC or Laptop, visit that makers site for any driver updates. NetFramework 3.5 is part of the win7 installation I believe kb976422 and kb2488113 are optional updates not important In winupdate settings, ensure recommended updates are de-selected
Seems you have a problem with NetFramework, have you run Windows Update, then reviewed History to see if there is any failed update? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306160
See if resetting Windows Update components will help with your issue. Article ID: 971058 - How do I reset Windows Update components? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058 See if that will help with your Windows update and then we will see what other errors you have. Thanks, Marilyn
The failed updates I had were: Windows 7 SP1 (could not restart the machine afterwards - it just went into rebooting cycle), and 976422 and 2488113. Both blew up. Otherwise, all updates went fine. Any specific .NET version I need? 2.0, 4.0, 32-bit, 64-bit? 2005, 2008, 2010?? There are so many of them.... Thanks!

Word 2016 crashes randomly with BEX error
Hi, I have a COM add-in developed for Word2010 with VS2013 targeting .Net framework 4.0. Add-in works fine in 2010 but the same add-in crashes randomly in 2016. So I have created "2016 Word Add-in template" in VS 2015 targeting .Net framework 4.6 and copy pasted the code from 2010 add-in template to 2016 add-in template. Still I am facing the crashing issue randomly, mostly on closing the document. The is happening in both 86-bit and 64-bit office versions and also for every one (approx 150 users). Could anyone please help me with your valuable inputs in solving this issue. Please let me know incase of more details. Thanks, Stanley
Sync Appts with Dell Axim Win7 exception
I recently installed a new computer at a client. it is a32 bit Windows 7 Home OS. The client is using a Dell Axim Pocket PC, which is running: Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition Version 4.21.1088 (Build 142188.8.131.52) AppPath=C:\Windows\WindowsMobile\WmdHost.exe ReportDescription=Stopped working
unfortunatley this did not help. however, i was able to correct the problem by moving all the events and appts to a new calendar folder. i then restored them a few at a time until i found the offending item. i wa then able to synchronize wit the device only once. I removed the connection between the PPC and the PC and deleted all the outlook appts and events. I then recreated the connection between the PPC and PC and all the items form the PPC then synced with outlook and it is working fine now
WMDC is not so good as ActiveSync :( Try this for me it was working - disconnect the WM device - on the PC, use regedit to remove the entire folder HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE Services (right click on the entry in the tree in the left pane of the regedit window, the select "Delete") - uninstall WMDC and its upgrade - reinstall WMDC and its upgrade (easily done by downloading and running, as an Administrator, the current file from MS from one of the URLs shown below; this installs the new drivers first, then WMDC); this rebuilds the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE Services folder, but now with correct values (specifically, ConnectTypesAllowed is now 10, rather than 8 as I saw before removing the old folder) - reconnect the WM device My Dynamics CRM Blog: http://bovoweb.blogspot.com
error code 0x88985003
I recently updated a graphics program, Paint.Net, to the newest version v3.5.5. It installed correctly and worked well in all ways, until I selected the text tool. This automatically causes the program to crash. I have emailed several crash logs per the instructions on the crash logs to PDN. I have been in the forums at Paint.Net after trying everything I can think of on my own. The response from the Paint.Net forums is: "That the crash log shows that The error code is 0x88985003 and after some digging, that is the DirectWrite error code for File Not Found and that they suspect I have a font that is incorrectly installed or has been deleted improperly (I'm not sure how/why). The response said it was probably whichever font I was trying to use with the text tool." The thing is that all you have to do is select the text tool and the program crashes. I have two other graphic programs, PSPx2 and Artweaver and the text tool works great in both of them with all fonts. I have tried un-installing, rebooting, re-installing, rebooting...I have downloaded and ran the Windows Installation Cleanup Utility program after un-installing the programs. I have deleted two newer fonts I had installed just prior to the upgrade, I have un-installed Microsoft Security Essentials AV program which I had installed just prior to the upgrade. I have un-installed the newest version of Paint.Net and installed older versions that have worked great before. Now they crash the program when the text tool is selected. I have Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 and it is current and appears to be working correctly, but I re-did the download again in the repair mode just to be sure. I have gone back to a restore point prior to the PDN update. I have tried un-installing and re-installing with IE, I normally use FF. I have posted this problem on the Toshiba Laptop forums - no response. This morning I just happened to think about trying re-setting my defaults on PDN. Duh. So I just went back in and reset them and the text tool worked. After I quit hitting my head against the wall, I tried it again. It still worked...default font is Arial. So I tried selecting another font that I work with a lot and has been installed on my computers for well over a year, and yep, it crashed. Tried Georgia font....doesn't crash...does this ring a bell to anyone about anything I could try? My computer is a Toshiba Satellite L305D, Vista Home Premium SP2, 3.00 GB of memory. I have the same fonts, the same anit-virus and the same upgraded Paint.Net v3.5.5 installed on my desktop at home. It all works great. My desktop is a HP, Vista Home Premium SP2 with only 1.00 GB of memory. Any help or suggestions would really be a great help. Crash log This text file was created because Paint.NET crashed. We'll need to do a general troublehooting to see if we can identify and resolve the problem. I think it is a problem with the program or the update to it (which may have caused a problem with Vista). We can check Vista but we can't do anything about the program if the manufacturer who knows much more than we do can't help. BTW, the program uses .NET Framework 2.0 so you can stop worrying about 3.5. Do you know when this problem began? Try a System Restore to a point in time BEFORE the problem began. I came back to post the answer to my problem. I do so appreciate your help above but ....3 awesome guys came to my rescue this afternoon at PDN....fixed...YAH!!! This is all it took: Open any folder. In the top-header of the Windows Explorer window, click on: Organize > Folder and Search Options > View Put a tick in: Show hidden files and folders --------------- Remove the check mark from: Hide protected operating system files (Recommended) --------------- Now navigate to, and delete this file. C:\Windows\System32\FNTCACHE.DAT Reboot the PC, and check whether crashing still happens. ________________ Again, thank you for your speedy reply and trying to help me. I was beginning to get desperate...this is my favorite graphic program. I'm happy:}
