IE 8 Freezes When Visiting Certain Websites - Places Notepad Icon on Desktop
Good Evening: I'm very frustrated... I just upgraded from IE 7 to IE 8. When visiting certain websites, e.g., CBS's Sportsline.com ( www.sportsline.com ), specifically, NFL>Scores, IE8 freezes and places a Notepad icon on my desktop. The Notepad icon filename is hs_err_pid3036. This John Windows XP MCE 2005 SP3, Dell XPS 400, 2 GB Ram, 3 GHZ, IE8
Note: I did some searching on the Internet regarding my issue. I found on the Tech Support Guy website that another individual had the exact same issue. The recommendation was to uninstall the current Java version, and install the most updated version ( www.java.com ). The problem was resolved. Should I consider performing a Java update (my Java version is 5 years old)? Certainly. See http://aumha.net/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=43515 . One last thing: I visted the AumHa website. It is a wonderful site. (I even added it as a favorite). Is it your site? No, the Windows Support Center and related forums are not mine. The owner and webmaster is my colleague Windows MVP Jim Eshelman. I am but a lowly Admin, Moderator and AumHa VSOP .
PA Bear: Thanks so much for the information. I downloaded and installed the newest version of Java according to your directions, and...the problem is now solved. I can't thank you enough.
