APPCRASH Windows 7 Microsoft Games
All of the Micorsoft Games that came with my Windows crash when I try to open them. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate on a 64-bit dual core computer. Here is the error message I get when opening one of them: Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH I have updated my installation of Windows, Java, ActiveX and DirectX. Please advise.
Dears, I have experienced the same problem. All suggestions from MS are wrong. It is problem with the latest graphics drivers (esp. from nvidia). I ran Purble place with no problem when I used "old" graphics drivers, after some time nvidia announced me that their new fantastic graphics driver is released and recommend me to update my system. After this update three of my apps (they all in the past worked well) failed on startup with similar error (Purble place was one of them - my daughter loves it) + brain new nvidia system updater (maybe should be called as headache-installer) fails again and again so I have decided to reinstall graphics drivers back to the original ones and voila - everything is OK and work fine. My recommendation = install original graphics drivers, not the latest and try. Latest graphic drivers = often a problem. Best regards.
Have you tried updating your graphics drivers? Also try: 1. Click on Start (bottom left) then . 12. Reboot.
Hi Nirmal, Regarding your questions: 1. When I try to open any of the Windows 7 Games that came with the PC, the executable file crashes after I select the difficulty level. 2. When the application crashes (APPCRASH), it displays the error message quoted at the top of this message. 3. As far as I know, it is just the "in-the-box" games that came with Windows 7. I tried your suggestions, but was not successful in solving my problem: Method 1 - I ran the Fixit tool from the link you gave, but it did not fix it. Method 2 - I ran the System File Checker. It did not detect any corrupt files or integrity violations. Method 3 - I created a new User Account with Administrator privileges. I then tried to open the Windows game on it, and the APP crashed for that account also. Please advise.
Hi Markitekt , Thank you for keeping us posted. Method – I would recommend you to perform Clean Boot . Putting your system in Clean Boot state helps in identifying if any third party applications or startup items are causing the issue. You need to follow the steps from the article mentioned below to perform a Clean Boot - How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 Note : You need to follow Step 7 from the article mentioned above to get the computer back to Normal Startup after performing all the troubleshooting steps. Hope this helps!!
Hi Markitekt, 1) What exactly happens after the game crashes http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/Windows7/Fix-a-corrupted-user-profile Hope this helps!!!
ALSO, all of the correct check boxes are ticked to display the Windows Games.
I tried updating the graphics drivers on my PC through their automatic detection on www.dell.com , but was not successful. Here is the message it gave: We're sorry The Operating System currently installed on your system is not a supported configuration. To update your OS, please visit the vendor website M y PC is a Dell Optiplex, which originally came with Windows XP installed it. Windows 7 was installed on it later. I was then redirected to this website, where it showed all available drivers for Dell Optiplex 745: http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/555/DriversHome/?c=us&s=biz&cs=555&l=en I am not sure which ones are appropriate to select for my Chipset and Video drivers. Please advise.
