windows explorer restarts
I was online and suddenly went to a page for some antivirus software called virus doctor. It was doing a scan and said it was infected and to download the software to resolve the issue. I tried closing mozilla but kept giving me message to continue or cancel and was worried that either choice would infect my system so I went into task manager and ended mozilla. Afterwards when I right clicked mozilla there was a error stating that something was wrong with windows explorer and needs to restart. It was not the only program to do it. It seemed like it would only affect either shortcuts or .exe files but other files, and folders were not giving the error. Also internet explorer, my user folder, controlpanel, mycomputer, recycle bin were also not affected by this. This also occurred in safe mode. I tried system restore but that did not resolve the issue. I tried sfc but mention there were files that could not be repaired. Is this happening of what I did in mozilla or is this the virus or something different causing this. Ill post the CBS repair log here. 2009-08-29 15:42:36, Info CSI 00000006 [SR] Verifying 100 (0x00000064) components 2009-08-29 15:42:36, Info CSI 00000007 [SR] Beginning Verify and Repair transaction 2009-08-29 15:42:39, Info CSI 00000009 [SR] Verify complete 2009-08-29 15:42:39, Info CSI 0000000a [SR] Verifying 100 (0x00000064) components 2009-08-29 15:47:48, Info CSI 000001ed [SR] Committing transaction 2009-08-29 15:47:48, Info CSI 000001f1 [SR] Verify and Repair Transaction completed. Hi, Virus Doctor is malware itself. How to remove Virus Doctor (Uninstall Guide) http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-virus-doctor How to Remove Virus Doctor (Removal Instructions) Hope this helps. Rob - Bicycle - Mark Twain said it right.
I figured out what was the problem. In shellexview I disabled this line: CmdLineContextMenu Class. After I disabled it, I had no more errors or restarts. Is there a way to repair it or is it I installed a program that is doing this?
What issues do you have now? ShellExView help - see this and the related articles http://windowsxp.mvps.org/slowrightclick.htm Rob - Bicycle - Mark Twain said it right.
SFC /scannow Found but could not fix some Corrupt files, How do i remove them / find them?
Split from this thread. Rob, Sincerely appreciate the info/guidance. I ran the sfc /scannow and cropped the results to just include the unable to complete sections. The OK portions were eliminated for convenience. PC is a Vista PC with SP2 and all the updates. The antivirus program is run a few times a week and has identified no virus/spyware/malware. No other real problems with PC. 2015-03-19 17:07:14, Info CSI 0000014c [SR] Beginning Verify and Repair transaction Gene St Paul, MN
Rob, I followed the suggestions. The CHKDSK revealed no problems. I did the Repair Installation, yet the scandisk still details some issues that can't be resolved... System operation is fine. No problems with any function. No virus/malware/spyware/or any other pathogen present. Will keep things up to date. Thanks, Gene
Hi, Many of the files sfc can't fix are not important. Start - type in Search box -> CMD find at top - Right Click on - RUN AS ADMIN put the command from below (copy and paste it) into that box and then hit enter. findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log >sfcdetails.txt that creates the sfcdetails.txt file in the folder you are in when you run it. So if you are in C:\Windows\System32> then you will need to look in that folder for the file. How to analyze the log file entries that the Microsoft Windows Resource Checker (SFC.exe) program generates in Windows Vista http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928228 That creates sfcdetails.txt in C:\Windows\System32 find it and you can post the errors into a message here. NOTE : there probably are duplicates so please only post each section of errors once. You can read the log/txt files easier if you right click on Notepad or Wordpad then RUN AS ADMIN - then you can navigate to sfcdetails.txt ( in C:\Windows\System32 ) or cbs.log ( in C:\W
Your sfc /scannow" reports: ...found some errors but was unable...." This is an all too common issue that has always come up and most MS support sites rarely give a direct response for its solution! The easiest way I use is to run the Deployment Image Servicing and Management [DISM] tool Here's how: Open a Command prompt as an administrator. Copy and paste or type this command string Dism.exe/Online /Cleanup-image /RestoreHealth and hit enter. If your typing it pay attention to the spaces after "Online" and "image" It will run automatically and give you the results. NOTE - the process will "stall" at the 20% point for a few minutes - simply wait it out! Good luck to you and regards, Bill

Error code 0x80070570 during copy phase of install
I am attempting a clean install of Windows 7. I have downloaded X15-65805.iso twice (on 2/13 and 2/14, on two different machines. I have tried four DVDs, burned on two different machines. The install fails every time after copying 1% of the files with the following message: "Windows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070570." Error 0x80070570. Can be caused by different problems. 1) This is common for a Dell computer, but can happen on non Dell computers. It appears that the built-in SATA drivers aren't recognized during the Windows 7 extraction portion of setup (when your BIOS is set with RAID Autodetect/AHCI). This can work for Dell PC and a non Dell computer: Note: you should install the latest BIOS update from Dell's support.dell.com website first, or your manufacturers website for a non-Dell computer. 1. Boot into the BIOS (for Dell press F2 while the Dell splash screen is showing, other computers may use a different button). 2. Go to Drives > SATA Operation. (will be different for a non-Dell) Have Questions About Installing Windows 7? FAQ - Common Windows 7 Installation Questions & Answers
Downloaded from the DigitalRiver site as per the email from Microsoft. Burned at the slowest speed Nero would allow, which was not as slow as I might have wanted. I should note that I ran MEMTEST86 for over 24 hours with no memory errors. I should also note that the installer successfully wrote a number of folders and files to the target drive before failing, which would suggest that hardware-wise it should have been able to copy the rest. The error message in the log seems In my original message I only reported the hash check for one of the copies of X15-65805.iso I downloaded. Here are the hash checks for both copies: SHA1: be9ee5960a2d3462fb12312f8f09cb25363a215b CRC32: 4914f610 SHA1: 50127304441a793ee51b3f501289f6599a559e9f CRC32: 502c42c1 So, the two files (though the same size) are different. Dunno if this was due to download errors, whether the file version was changed on the server between downloads, or whether each download is branded in some way. I would appreciate know
Did you burn it at the Slowest possible speed ? Very important.
Where are you downloading the ISO file from? Carey Frisch
Success. One of the two image file downloads I did must have been bad (either the file itself or the download). I tried one final DVD burn of the other file at Nero's slowest burn speed (6X) with verification. I was able to do the install from that DVD. I should note that I burned the first file three times, twice on slow speed with verification, and all three failed to install at the same point in the file copy phase (1%). Two had the same error message regarding the same file in the error log--I didn't happen to check the log for the third. I know the simplest answer is that the burns were bad. But the two downloaded files, the one that didn't work (downloaded 2/13) and the one that did (downloaded late 2/14) were not the same even though they had the same filesize. I did an old command-line COMP on them and there were differences. This would suggest that either the file was bad on the server (and was replaced before I downloaded the second time) or that bytes were corrupted d
