Hello, Thank for visiting Microsoft Answers and providing us with the detailed description about the issue along with the event logs which will help us in providing you with the targeted assistance. As per the description, I understand that you are getting error message “Internet Explorer has stopped working” while loading certain websites using Internet Explorer 10 in the system. I really appreciate all your efforts towards resolving the issue. In order to understand the issue more clearly, please provide me with the following information. Is this issue specific with certain websites or with all the websites? Have you tried using any other browser in the system and checked if the websites are opening fine or not? Also, the error may be related to the graphics driver so try updating the graphics driver or disable GPU rendering as suggested by Jayant Gupta. Hello Thank you for your reply. HTML is not a problem, but the flash version is not working. Comes up with Shockvawe plugin stopped working. Also I am using version 6 of VCSA cause I am doing training on it. I can disable the plugin in the browser, but then it comes with the message you need Adobe flash player to see this content. As soon as I enable it - Microsoft IE stopped working when I try to open the web client. And again is not deprecated I am using it at my work place and is not a problem. Same version of windows 10 and the same version of VCSA appliance. It is crashing on every browser as well. Thank you
Hello This has been all sorted - Just uninstalled KB4025376 Thank you
Wasn't the Flash-based vSphere web client already deprecated? Have you tried using the HTML-based vSphere 6.5?

Random application crashes related to kernel32.dll , kernelbase.dll and ntdll.dll
I am experiencing random appcrahes in my Windows 7 laptop, I am working the following configuration: Laptop : Asus K55VM R500V Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit - SP 1 - Build 1130 Problem: Crashes happen on random times with random applications. So this can be either my Steam Client, Skype, Google Chrome, QQ International Messenger or Windows Explorer. It doesn't matter if I use all of them at the same time or only two or what I am doing with my laptop. Often when I play heavy videogames (i.e. Far Cry 3) my laptop is fine but simply using my email can cause a crash. I would really appreciate any support or suggestions, should you require any other information or error logs please let me know. Thanks in advance!
Hi Anannya, I tried your suggestions. I replaced my dll files and tried to assign them to my register. Following your steps was not possible as I got an error code when trying to use the command in Run, I however managed to do it in Command Prompt and so far I did not got any problems! Thank you very much for your help! Regards, Joep
Hi Joep , You are welcome! We are glad that the issue is resolved. Thank you for sharing the information.
Hi Joepvan der Poel, The issue appears to be because of two system files namely to kernel32.dll and ntdll.dll Since you did a clean install of Windows 7 and still the issue reappears it seems like the version of Windows installed on your computer and on the media aswell is corrupt. Therefore I would suggest you to get the copy of these two files kernel32.dll and ntdll.dll from another trust worthy Windows 7 computer running the same version, edition and service pack and paste it to c:drive>Windows>System32 folder and re-register the files and check if the issue persists. To re-register the files follow these steps: a. Click on the "Start" menu, click "Run". b. In the "Open" box, type " kernel32.dll /regserver ", without quotes and then press ENTER. c. For ntdll.dll type " ntdll.dll/ regserver", without quotes and then press ENTER. Hope it helps. Please get back with the issue status and also let us know if you face any Windows issue in future and we will be happy to help.
KERNELBASE.dll Application crash
I've experienced a program crash involving the file KERNELBASE.dll while attempting to open Corel VideoStudio, at first I thought it was due to that software, so I uninstalled that and reinstalled it and the crash still happened. I used that Tweakfix software, which fixed what it said it would, but the crash still happened. I don't know what exactly is wrong and it might be a symptom of a much larger problem (as it can lead to the BSOD in some cases) can someone help me out with this?
I installed and ran the System Update Readiness Tool, it didn't work. Would cleaning the registry do anything to solve this problem or would it make it worse?
It didn't work, I copied the files as instructed and then tried to access the application that was affected by KERNALBASE.dll with new user and the result was the same.
I uninstalled that update and then restarted Windows and it didn't make any difference, the application affected by KERNALBASE.dll still wouldn't run.

Hello, Thank you for replying back. Let’s follow below mentioned steps and check if that helps: Step 1: Boot the computer in Safe Mode and check if the issue persists. In Windows, we can start the computer in different advanced troubleshooting modes to find and fix problems on the PC. One of such troubleshooting mode is Safe Mode . Here we start Windows with a minimal set of drivers and services. Please refer to the steps given in this article to boot the computer in safe mode: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/start-computer-safe-mode#start-computer-safe-mode=windows-7 If the issue does not occur in safe mode, then you may boot the computer back to the normal mode and then perform a clean boot to check if the issue is caused by any software conflicts. Step 2: Perform a Clean Boot and find out which application/service is causing this issue. A clean boot helps to eliminate software conflicts and to determine what is causing the problem. To perform a clean boot, please refer to
I have the same problem since I installed the KB3126593 which replaces the kernelbase.dll. If I uninstall the KB3126593 the problem vanished after a reboot.
Would cleaning the registry fix the problem or make it worse? I would prefer not to try it unless I have a more...professional opinion on the matter.
Method 1 - Windows Resource Protection found corrupted files, but was unable to fix some of them. Method 2 - KERNALBASE.dll failed to load, the specific module could not be found.
Hello Mentis, Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community. KernelBase.dll is an API client DLL to help launch .exe applications. Thank You for responding Halima. Sorry I seem to have not included all the information. 1.When does the media hub crash? Always. Has never worked. 2. Have you made any recent changes on the computer? Just installation of the Nero Vision Extra 10 software. 3. Do you receive any error message when the media hub crashes? Yes: "Nero Media Hub has stopped working" "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and modify you if a solution is available.” 4. When was the last time it was working fine? Never. This is a new boxed program from Nero. Nero Media Hub 10 contains libraries for Pictures, Music, Videos, and Slideshows and is used in conjunction with Nero Vision Extra 10. When launching Nero, the video editing program seems to be working. When launching the Media Hub, the loading screen stays locked-up and never has proceeded from their. Task manager needs to be used to stop it from running. Seems like the Nero Support are blaming it on Windows.

Hi, Consider capturing a user-mode dump of the iexplore.exe crash to get more information on the crash and to see if a third party module is actually causing the crash. Hello, Welcome to Microsoft Community Forum. As per description I understand that Internet Explorer 11 starts crashing after installing Windows updates. It seems that there might be some corruption in add-ons that may cause Internet Explorer to stop responding effectively. Please do not worry I will try my best to resolve it. SFC /scannow has been run, no errors have been reported. It is going to be quicker to re-install Windows than reverse 142 updates which is the change from when it was working to when it was not.
Found this adware and removing it restored IE function. Thank you!
Same issue for one of my customers - turned out to be that exact piece of Adware. Removed it and she is good to go! Thanks for posting!!
OMG...this completely did it !!! I tried everything. I then saw your post...went to add/remove software...and there it was. Uninstalled and all is perfect. Thank you.
You are a lifesaver! Thank you!

Also, the error may be caused by a third party browser extension. You could try temporarily disabling third party browser extensions and see if it makes any difference: IE > Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > remove the checkmark in front of "Enable third party browser extensions" > OK then restart IE. If that does not help re-enable third party browser extensions. If it does help a third party browser extension is causing the problem.

Hi Harry, It is possible that the application itself is corrupted. For us to properly isolate this Kernelbase.dll error, we have some questions for you: Have you tried reinstalling the application? Have you tried running System File Checker to check for any file corruption? Have you tried installing the application using other user account on your computer? We're looking forward to your response.

KernelBase.dll is giving problems
I have two programs that simply will not start, and immediately throw up a Windows message to say they need to close and look for the solution, or just close the program The problem details are: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: DVDRegionFree.exe Application Version: 5.9.8.83 I have tried a restore, regrettably that point was not back far enough. I also tried creating a new administrator account, but neither attempt made any difference. I have also tried sfc /scannow which threw up no problems.
For the two post I made with connection to this problem, it transpires that the Software suppliers records showed I had the product installed on more than one machine due to the hardware upgrades. It wasn't, and the bios catastrophe helped to recreate the problem, but once contacted, the software suppliers edited their records, and everything now works.
Thank you for keeping us posted and sharing this information with us. Feel free to contact the Microsoft Community for any issues pertaining to Windows in the future and we will be happy to help.
APPCRASH KERNELBASE.dll Errors - Windows 8
I am currently using Windows 8 Professional. When opening certain programs I am presented with an error saying the program has stopped working, then as usual the troubleshooter appears and attempts to find a solution, this lasts for about 2 seconds before it disappears; the computer then does nothing after that. In the event viewer the faulting module always seems to be KERNELBASE.DLL and I am unsure as to how to rectify it. I have tried a few things like disabling DEP and fiddling with compatibility modes and running as administrator and all the things that people usually recommend that never work. I'm guessing a reinstall or repair of Windows would probably fix this issue since it's a system file and may well be corrupt, but I can't be bothered with that at the moment and would like to find a less laborious solution. Some programs that crash with the KERNELBASE.DLL error are Nexus Mod Manager (for easy downloading/installation of mods for TES: Skyrim), The Sims 3 Launcher, Fifa 12 configuration, Pinnacle Game Profiler, and many others others... Here are some of the events from event viewer for your reference: Nexus Mod Manager Fault bucket 117895380, type 4 Thanks for taking the time to read this and if anything else is needed please don't hesitate to ask. Hi, It could be possible that IO Bit malware removal has removed some system files. Let us try following the methods given below and check if it helps. Method 1: Let us try performing a System File checker scan. If system files are corrupted, the easiest way to rebuild the damage files or to find which files got corrupted you could use “SFC SCANNOW” Refer to the article given below. Use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or on Windows 7 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833 If the issue persists, let us try performing a system restore to a previous state when it was working and check. Method 2: Refer to the article given below to perform a system restore. System Restore http://windows.microsoft.com/en-IN/windows7/products/features/system-restore Note: When you perform System Restore to restore the computer to previous state, programs and updates you installed are removed. Reply back if the issue persists, we are here to help
Hi Vipin, Thanks for the prompt reply. I should have mentioned that I'd already tried sfc /scannow multiple times after almost every other step i tried above and sadly this didnt resolve the issue. I also thought a system restore would help but there are no system restore points from before the issue. the oldest restore point is from a few weeks ago and this didnt fix it. Thanks again, Al

KERNELBASE.DLL Error
I have Windows 10, and have downloaded and installed Tableau Public (a very trusted source https://public.tableau.com/s/). When I try to open it, it appears to try to open but fails. I've looked at the event viewer and various error logs, and found I have a KERNELBASE.DLL error. Details of the error is posted at end of this message. I have tried many things: > I am always working from a User Profile with Admin privileges > Scanned PC for any viruses/irregularities > I try opening the Tableau Public both from the shortcut and from the .exe file itself; try opening by "Run as Administrator" Report Status: 0 Hashed bucket: fca787ef46de669cf526124a3bac6c48
Hi, the latest Windows update has solved this problem. The update was Feature Update to Windows 10, version 1607.
Jhessica, thanks for your reply! Ok, I did the Clean Boot, and then tried to run Tableau Public. Registering KernelBase.dll failed
Hi, I followed the questions on problems with KernelBase.dll, and tried to re-register the dll. I got the following error: Hope you have a suggestion to solve this problem. Regards *** Email address is removed for privacy ***
Hi, I found this suggestion on a Microsoft site, after seaching for "kernelbase.dll has caused my applications to stop working": https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_programs/kernelbasedll-has-caused-my-applications-to-stop/b7e4738e-2f16-4a92-****-bc7c2dd50ce8?auth=1 Question asked by Indri92 asked on and replied by Liza.Z replied on Microsoft Now my problem is: I get a First -chance exception at 0x75118450 (KernelBase.dll) So, I was looking for more information which function is called, so I can search my code to find the cause. Regards, Gerrit
You are following bad advice. Will you post a link to where you read this advice? The KernelBase.dll is not a regsisterable DLL so the error message makes sense and if you look inside the DLL you will see that indeed there is no DLLRegisterServer function: This means the advice you are following is bad and whoever suggested that idea has not followed their own advice to see what actually happens. Just because a file has a DLL extension does not mean it is registerable but many times whenever there is some error message about a DLL somebody is going to suggest registering it - and they probably have not followed their own advice to see what happens. What you should do is describe the problem you are having and then somebody can help you look into it.
As I suspected all those suggestions to register the unregsiterable DLL (as usual) came from the Microsoft engaged alleged "experts". From your description so far I can't tell what the issue is of what " First -chance exception at 0x75118450 (KernelBase.dll)" means but maybe somebody else will have some ideas. At least you know what it's not...
KernelBase.dll is broken constant BSOD's constant game crashing.
Ok so this problem has been happening for a while. My computer constantly crashes from the same error. Every time I reboot it tells me that windows could not start properly because of my KernelBase.dll file. I've fresh installed windows about three times and it happens the same way every time. I've even ran sfc /scannow test in command prompt and it tells me that the file is corrupt but still cant be fixed. This is the message it displays after a full scan "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. Note that logging is currently not supported in offline servicing scenarios." If anyone has any solutions or just any reasons why this is happening please help. ***Post moved by the moderator to the appropriate forum category.***
Hi Darry, User Profile corruption is one of the possible reasons why you are experiencing constant BSOD's on your computer. You mentioned that you ran the System File Checker (SFC) tool , but is still getting a stop code. To further troubleshoot the issue, we suggest that you create a new User Profile and check if the issue persists. To create a user profile, follow these steps: Go to Settings . Click Accounts . Select Family & other people . Select the Add someone else to this PC tab. Name the user as Test . Leave the password field blank. Hit Next . Sign in as Test user. You may also check this link to fix BSOD errors. Choose the situation when you experienced the problem and follow the troubleshooting steps.

I had to finish a project today so I uninstalled/reinstalled the program. I am thinking that when I open a picture in picture viewer or something like that... then right click to edit in Adobe this is when the application fails, and then cannot recover, where I then need to reinstall the application. But that's just a thought... thanks for looking into this.

done, awaiting the crash, thank you again.
The dump file showed involvement of only Photoshop modules and the runtime module msvcr90.dll: *** ERROR: Symbol file could not be found. It crashed again. What I believe is happening is if I open the image in "Picture Viewer", right click and then ask it to open in Adobe Elements it crashes. From there, I have to choice but to uninstall and install elements again. https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=E4FD674F07F52A93%21175 Here is the crashdump.
From the loaded modules I can't see anything that stands out as a issue. The saHook.dll from McAfee Site Advisor is loaded during both crashes. What I might suggest is to capture a user-mode dump of the PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe crash to get more information on the crash and to see if a third party module is causing the crash. You can configure Windows to create user-mode dumps. Create a System Restore Point first. If you copy and paste the following in Notepad and save as a .reg file (save with the .reg extension and give it any name such as pedump.reg), then right-click the .reg file and select "Merge" to add to the registry, a .dmp file at the time PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe crashes should be created in the C:\CrashDumps folder: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe] "DumpFolder"=hex(2):43,00,3a,00,5c,00,43,00,72,00,61,00,73,00,68,00,44,00,75,\ 00,6d,00,70,00,73,00,00,00 A
The faulting modules KERNELBASE.dll and jscript9.dll are components of Windows. However another, possibly third party, module may actually be causing the crashes. It may help to see what modules are loading during the crash. Can you download and run the following application (AppCrashView): http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/app_crash_view.html Click on one of the recent iexplore.exe errors. Can you copy and paste the information that appears in the lower window that has loaded modules. Do the same for a PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe error.

I did it twice (reinstall firefox), behavior is same. The same problem is for Adobe reader. It's Win 7 home, SP1, fully updated. Im affraid it will be necessary to reinstall :-(
Looks like an issue with your install of Firefox. I would suggest you uninstall the application, download it from their website and install it again to see if this behavior continues.
Yes, something like this was helpfull, I did it 4 days ago.
I would run a SFC /scannow to see if you have any corrupt system files that might be causing a problem. Click Start Type: CMD, right click CMD Click “Run as Administrator” At the Command Prompt, type: sfc /scannow This will check for any integrity violations and fix any corrupted operating system files. Restart your system. APPCRASH: problem with KERNELBASE.dll
I have tried running a basic stand-alone .exe program, and out of nowhere one day I started getting the following: Description: Stopped working Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: newton2.exe Application Version: 2.0.0.0 Application Timestamp: 4ab5376b Fault Module Name: KERNELBASE.dll Fault Module Version: 6.1.7601.17514 Fault Module Timestamp: 4ce7bafa Exception Code: e0434f4d Exception Offset: 0000b727 OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.48 Locale ID: 1033 I can't find any help online. I have tried downloading it again, deleting all registry files associated with it, restarting multiple times, run a full system scan with Symantec, all with no success. I'm on Win 7 64-bit, and what's weird is that it was working perfectly fine about 2 days ago. I have also tried uninstalling programs I have recently installed, but that was also unsuccessful. Please help!
Try a System Restore to before you were experiencing the issue. To choose a System Restore point, · From the Desktop click the Start button · In the Search Field type “System Restore” and hit enter · Once System Restore is open, select the option “choose a different restore point” and hit next Once on the next screen, pick a restore point to go back to when it last worked for you. Once you select the restore point, click next, then select finish, this will start the restore process. Let us know if this helps. Thanks, Marilyn
It is a standalone program, "Newton 2," meant for designing roller coasters. Here's a link to the download page: http://nolimits-exchange.com/news/20/newton2 I have tried "run as administrator." I also tried using SFC and it said no files had viability issues. The program doesn't even begin to open. The instant I double-click the program the APPCRASH error appears. I have also tried replacing the kernelbase.dll file with one from another Windows 7 computer on which newton2.exe works, and that still didn't solve the problem.
Hi, What changes were made to your computer prior to the issue occurring? I'd suggest you follow the below steps. Step 1: Start your computer in safe mode and check if the issue occur. Step 2: If the machine works fine in safe mode, then there must be a third party software that is causing the issue to occur, hence I'd suggest you to put your computer in a Clean Boot state. How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 Note: Put your computer back to normal mode (Step 7). Step 3: Perform system restore to the point (2 days) your computer functioned normally.
Before you experiment with Registry Cleaners, which I don't recommend myself, have you tried uninstalling and then reinstalling the failing programs?
Unfortunately, none of those solutions helped. I receive the exact same error every time. I have even tried running it on a separate computer with the same operating system [from the same Windows 7 disk] and it works fine on that computer. I can't think of any reason this computer would have failed, and why it is only this single program that is crashing. The only thing I installed between when it worked and when it stopped was Google Chrome, which I have already uninstalled. I have also considered replacing/restoring the kernelbase.dll file, but my system won't let me alter it. I have administrative privileges in my profile but it still won't let me touch it. Is there a way around this?
I tried a system restore as well and the problem still persists...I am thinking the only option I have is to do a clean reinstall of Windows 7.
are you sure you didn't happen to have windows auto-updating by any chance? (this is one of the few threads i've seen referring to this particular version of the dll, most others are all having problems with the prior version, which doesn't help me) are both computers of yours running the same version of windows?..meaning, have both been updated with SP1, or is one with and one without?, etc. i ask, because i'm having a similar problem with this version of kernelbase.dll 6.1.7601.17514 but it did not start until i purposefully updated my laptop with SP1 yesterday. ever since then, when i boot up, two programs that start up automatically give me a similar error, and i'm betting there are others that i have yet to find that if i attempt to run, will do the same. i have tried similar ways of reverting to the older version of the dll, but cannot, without completely doing away with the service pack, via a restore point, which is kinda stupid, since overall function is better. it almost seem

kernelbase.dll crashes SKYPE. Began after W7 critical update on 11/19/2011. Any ideas?
I had the same problem and found a solution. This is not an application problem as KERNELBASE.dll is a system file. You need to fix your windows 7 system files. Go here and follow all instructions: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833 Doing this solved many other problems I had with my system: - MSN messenger not loading any more - All office 2010 programs crashing whenever I tried to click on the INSERT tab - windows explorer crashing when searching for files or documents in large folders Hope this helps. My fiance are both having the same issue as of today. She runs win7 x64, while I'm still in win7 x32. My last windows update was 11/18... but somehow our skype crashing issues didn't start until today. Any advice would rock.

'kernelbase.dll' has caused a list of programs crash

And not sure this cause the program, a lot of programs resulted in crash, where the error message will pop up even when I have no action on my computer. And in the error log, all of the problem dll is KERNELBASE.dll The program include: iusb3mon.exe NvBackend.exe (for NVIDIA) BugReport.exe ProductUpdater.exe yundetectservice.exe etc I have tried system restore, but the problem is still here One more point to add is that in the system restore, I saw a drive call Mircosoft Remote Desktop Service (Printer) 06/21/2006 will be stored (but I failed to restore) Not sure is it related to the problem From some other post I found in this sites, I have try 1. My laptop specification : Asus N46vz Since you have an Asus notebook the error may be caused by the QuickGesture.dll which is a component of Asus Virtual Touch software. As suggested in this link can you uninstall the Asus Virtual Touch program and in it's place install Asus Smart Gesture. There should be downloads for the Asus Smart Gesture from Asus for your notebook or you can use the following link: Smart Gesture ATK Package if you need it: ATK Package Edit: I notice the link I referenced does not mention the KERNELBASE.dll or Adobe Photoshop but the following link with similar error does: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/ie/forum/ie9-windows_7/problem-signature-kernelbasedll-appcrash/cb480557-5e35-4da4-9739-d213eb13a0da
We do need the actual DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible. WE NEED AT LEAST TWO DMP FILES TO SPOT TRENDS AND CONFIRM THE DIAGNOSIS. If you are overclocking (pushing the components beyond their design) you should revert to default at least until the crashing is solved. If you dont know what it is you probably are not overclocking. KERNELBASE.dll Corrupted
Hello, I have been having several games crashing in Steam, I contacted support for one of the games, and after sending them "DxDiag/MSInfo " files, they told me Kernelbase.dll was corrupt. They advised me to run "sfc /scannow" , and it said that it "did not find any integrity violations" . I also ran the command “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth" and it said 'the restore operation completed successfully" I tried running the system in Clean Boot and that did not fix the issue. I tried running “regsvr32 KERNELBASE.dll” and got the message "the module "kernelbase.dll" was loaded but the entry point Dllregisterserver was not found. Make sure that "kernelbase.dll" is a valid DLL or OCX file and then try again." I tried to do a system restore but could not find a restore point from before the problem started. I would appreciate your help.

I can not guarantee the results but some tips that may help. move your installed games to another drive then other then the system drive; in steam select move installed games to another drive/steam folder. Set the ms store for manual download, same for windows update. Uncheck load steam on pc start. set antivirus for manual updates. this goes for any other program that wants to get first crack at the pc when it boots; including flash player and sun java. update your gpu's and any other system devices and drivers. Been a steam user for a few years, from vista and up to win10 and win10 makes me have to work much harder to get things running and stable on each new os update. I would also check the event viewer at the time of these crashes as most often, I have found other things triggering just before or after.

Hello, thank you for the reply. The solution might have not fixed the issue. While the games were crashing on launch before, this time they did launch, but they froze on a black screen after launching, one of them after displaying the credits. I'm not sure if launching in safe mode had fixed the issue only for another issue to affect them.
I still have not received any further help on this issue

I downloaded the file and ran it, and as soon as it runs it says "Thank you for updating to the latest version of Windows 10" so I guess I already have the latest version installed.

Thank you for getting back to us with the results. You may encounter some occasional issues when using Windows Insider Preview Build since it is a pre-release software. If the issue continues even after performing a clean boot , there's a possibility that the issue may already be with a corrupted registry key. That being said, we advise seeking the assistance of the IT Pro audience of TechNet especially since your running an Enterprise edition of Windows 10. The IT Pro audience of TechNet can provide better assistance for your concern. Please post your issue in the TechNet Windows 10 Insider Preview Builds forum . The Animation CC application haven't been used for more de 6 months. The support transcript from Adobe can be viewed here . Meanwhile I will try a clean boot to see if the issue persists or not. Thank you.
Hello, The issue you're experiencing with using Adobe Animate might be due to a software conflict. That being said, we'll need more information to properly address your concern. Hi Greg, This issue may occur due to corrupted system files. We would like to ask some questions to know the best possible resolution to offer: Did you make any changes on your PC before the issue started? Have you tried checking if there are available updates for your Windows 10? Did you try to run the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files? Have you tried running the Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool to use Windows Update to provide the files that are required to repair corruptions? Have you tried creating a new user profile and check if the issue persists? Regards.
Nathan, in response to your inquiries: Did you make any changes on your PC before the issue started? - I don't believe I did. Bear in mind this error has been occurring for quite a few months now. Have you tried checking if there are available updates for your Windows 10? - Many times, to no avail; my machine is up-to-date. Did you try to run the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files? - Yes, again to no avail. "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations." Have you tried running the Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool to use Windows Update to provide the files that are required to repair corruptions? - Just tried, will see if this works (I doubt it). Have you tried creating a new user profile and check if the issue persist( s) ? - No thanks - I haven't the energy to go through that shabacle.

Outlook.exe crashs with kernelbase.dll
Split from this thread . Hi. Got same problem here, and finally ran SFC tool which found nlslexicons0010.dll was broken. My question is: where can i find a valid copy of this file ? Running W7 (integral edition with discs) on virtual machine, I dont have a copy of this file per se, and I dont want to reinstall the whole VM for such Alternative way: i dont think this file is specific to Outlook, but, is it worth attemping to reinstall it ? By the way, this file seems as old as the others nls* ... (2009). How come kernelbase can complain about this file ? That looks like, kernelbase could be faulty ... Thanks for your answer. BR YLM.
Hi YLM, Based on your description, it seems that you encountered an issue that Outlook crashes and after you run System File Checker tool, it shows nlslexicons0010.dll was broken, right? For the nlsexicons0010.dll file, I have sent you a Private Message, please click your profile and then click View private messages to check it. For your second concern "How come kernelbase can complain about this file ?", I am not sure what you mean, would you mind providing us an example about it? Thanks, Iry
Hi YLM, Have you checked the private message I sent to you? If you still have any concern? Thanks, Iry
Is this win7? Its a win file, not an Office file
Issue with kernelbase.dll
A few applications UWP & standard executables have crashed due to KernalBase.dll First started to see the issue when I got State of Decay 2, then I started seeing it in things like VMWare processes, uPlay, games from steam etc. Nothing in common between all the crashes but KernalBase.dll, any ideas?

Is kernelbase.dll ONLY for Win 7 and up?
Simple question, **** one wasn't to answer so I'll try here. Is kernelbase.dll ONLY for Win 7 and up? Or, is/was it part of Vista too? Stuff: I need kernelbase.dll but contrary to instructions in other forums, it is not on any of my XP or Vista DVDs. Mind you, those are the DVDs that we are forced to make ourselves when buying a computer so I don't know if they are the same as a Windows installer, or just packs up a image and unloads it. I am trying to continue to use a program on Vista 32 bit that won't run under Windows 7 or up with the new restrictions. If the Microsoft forums MVPs are instructed never to respond to questions about any thing version Windows 7, can you at least say something? When ever I mention Vista, there is an echo.
Who marked this as a "Answer"? There is no answer, just a link to a bazillion other posts with the word "vista" in it. If I thought anyone there would answer the question, I would have asks there. If I wanted Tech Net I would have gone there. This is NOT an answer, not even close. A simple Yes, or No would suffice. Wasted my time returning here thinking there was an answer. Instead, it's some kiddie-koder expecting to get ranks with a link. LINKING is a dead art sir. It is NOT an answer. If I want directions, I'd ask for directions. If you can't answer the question, don't interfere with providing links. There are thousands of forums available to ask the same question. Do you think everyone wastes time to register here so they can get an answer before looking for one themselves? Heard of Google, Bing? You are not the only person who knows how to do a Google search. This Forum is not alone, there are many more, but one would think a Microsoft hosted site might perform a little better

kernelbase.dll corrupt
i have reinstaller WLM and now i cant start the programme - i have informed that kernelbase.dll is corrupt - how does one solve this ???
Hi Lars, Thanks for coming back. I understand that you have tried various troubleshooting steps but still encountering the issue. I would suggest that you perform Windwos Update for the .dll files you are missing or having issues with and clean install of Windows Essentials since you cannot install it due to a previous version installed. Here's how: Windows Update Perform Windows Update using the instructions here Regards, Richard
Hello, Welcome to Microsoft Community forum. I understand that you are unabled to start Windows Essentials programs. I would be happy to assist you. In order to do so, I would like to ask some questions from you to isolate the issue. What program of Windows Essentials that you are unable to start? Is it Windows Live Mail, Messenger or Movie Maker? What are the exact steps that you took in reinstalling Windows Essentials programs? What is the version of Windows Essentials that you had in control panel? Does the isue occur to other Windows Essentials programs? I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you!
Hi again Background: couple of weeks ago I upgraded to IE 10, and since then I have had problems with WLM i.e. the programme opened two sets of WLM and if I closed one window the whole programmed closed. At one stage I even got a message saying that two versions of WLM were running at the same time. So its more than likely that I in fact had two sets of WLM. Rather unusual! Talked to our local MC and they instructed me to uninstall WLM and later clean/delete completely all remaining bit and pieces of WLM - have a look at the thread here, appreciate you wont understand all, but surely you will be able to get an idea of what has been done. http://answers.microsoft.com/da-dk/windowslive/forum/livemail-wlinstall/kan-ikke-starte-wl-mail-2012-kan-jeg-afinstallere/e82bf628-1fb5-4f02-88ce-a928712a32b5 As instructed I downloaded wlsetup-all.exe and installed online from desktop and when I subsequently opened WLM I got error messages like the ones mentioned under item 1 at the bottom of this
Hi Richard Brilliant and World class - I followed your instructions, and it worked - all problems solved. Thanks a lot Best regards Lars
Since my message above I have just tried to run the wlsetup-all.exe again. And what happens? I am being informed that I already have latest version of Windows Live Essentials 2012. This may be true, but I cant run it...!
Hi Helene And thanks for responding - I am away this week-end and shall revert to this matter early next week Rgds Lars from Copenhagen, Denmark
KERNELBASE.DLL error on Windows server 2012.
Trying to run a program and it immediately crashed with KERNELBASE.DLL is the faulting module. Server is 2012 r2 fully updated. .net4.6 installed. We have tried registering the dll and it will not register. We have run the System File Checker and says no errors. There is currently NO virus software on the server. This is a brand new OS install. I have run this exe on multiple servers and this is the only one that has issues. On this server the KERNELBASE.DLL version is 6.3.9600.18340 Faulting module path c:\windows\system32\KERNELBASE.DLL

I'm having KERNELBASE.dll problems, I think?
I'm having KERNELBASE.dll problems, or so it seems. I'll be on the internet, and suddeenly, all my IE windows receive the below error message and restarts. Much of the time, they restart to the state they were in at the time of the crash, but sometimes they just end up at one IE window at the root (no URL). Any help would greatly be appreciated! KERNELBASE.DLL faulting module with Armored Warfare
Hey, I have been dealing with the devs for Armored Warfare now for the last 3 weeks on this. The game worked fine before Feb. Since then it has not worked. Both AW and MS have done updates so I don't know where to look as the devs for AW have not been able to find the solution. When I start the pgm, it runs fine until the last pop up saying the game is starting then it disappears and nothing. I finally have an error log from windows showing the kernelbase.dll is at least one of the issues: Description Faulting Application Path: E:\My.Com\Armored Warfare MyCom\bin64\armoredwarfare.exe Problem signature Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: armoredwarfare.exe Application Version: 3.5.1.974 Application Timestamp: 56f0b22b Fault Module Name: KERNELBASE.dll Fault Module Version: 10.0.10586.162 Fault Module Timestamp: 56cd45b4 Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 00000000000145e3 OS Version: 10.0.10586.2.0.0.256.48 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: f90f Additional Inf
Sorry for the delay. Yes I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times, including changing the destination drive in case it might have been the hard drive causing the problems. I always create restore points when I install a pgm, in case the install messes things up. Outlook error 0xc0000142; ClientMigration.exe crash in KERNELBASE.dll
Migrated Win7->Win10. Initially Outlook worked ok, but after a Win10 restart, it now crashes with "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). Click OK to close the application." 1. I did Office 365 reinstall ("online repair") and renamed my PST file (to ensure it's not PST file corruption): didn't help 2. Should I try a full office uninstall and reinstall (but hate to lose my settings!) We got GSuite (GMail) and I've wanted to try it for a long time but was afraid to migrate. The above crash forced me to try it. I installed GSMMO 4.0.117.0 from https://tools.google.com/dlpage/outlookmigration. When I run it, it quits and Event Viewer shows this error: Faulting application name: ClientMigration.exe, version: 4.0.117.0, time stamp: 0x59c4576e Faulting module name: KERNELBASE.dll, version: 10.0.17134.112, time stamp: 0xf2b2cb6c Exception code: 0xc06d007e Fault offset: 0x000000000003a388 Faulting process ID: 0x199c Faulting application start time: 0x01d407f359687eb8 Faulti
The reason was Office crashing (not just Outlook, also Word, Excel). I did a complete Uninstall/Reinstall, which fixed it. I can both run outlook, and the Google Outlook Migration.

Outlook.exe crashs with kernelbase.dll
Sometimes when an user creates an e-mail with an attachment outlook crashes without any message. The only error I can find is the application error in eventlog: Faulting application name: OUTLOOK.EXE , version: 16.0.9126.2210 , time stamp: 0x5afb9e42 Faulting module name: KERNELBASE.dll, version: 6.1.7601.24117 time stamp: 0x5add1e33 Exception code: 0xe06d7363 Fault offset: 0x0000c54f Faulting process id: 0x4f98 Faulting application start time: 0x01d403b91cc3602b Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\Office16\OUTLOOK.EXE Faulting module path: C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\KERNELBASE.dll Report Id: 60003c0b-6fac-11e8-acdd-e644f274cc6c We are using the version 16.0.9126.2210, but also tried the newest release without improvement. We tried new windows and outlook profile but it don't fixes the error. Any ideas?

Hi DoRe23, Does the issue occur in cache mode as well? If so, I suggest you try to perform a clean boot and check if the issue persists. Regards, Huni
Hi DoRe23, According to your description, the problem occurs when your user sends emails with attachments. To check if the problem is related to the Outlook client, please close all other applications and only open the Outlook client to check if the problem occurs. Also, please run Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant for Office 365 and navigate to Outlook > I’m having problems sending, receiving, or finding email messages to troubleshoot this problem. Meanwhile, we’d like to collect some details about your situation: 1. Do any other users in your organization encounter the same problem? 2. Does this problem occur when your user sends emails without attachments? 3. How large is the attachment? What type of attachment does your user send? 4. How large is your user’s mailbox? 5. Does the recipient receive the email with attachment? If you open the Outlook client after it crashes, can you find this email? Is it located in Draft or Sent items? Regards, Barry
Yes, cache mode doesn't help. The error also occurs after a clean boot.
We are using Outlook in Exchange online mode. So there is no OST. We also tried with offline cache, but to no avail. Also we use the data file in online mode, so the users have no local pst.
I think the MSRA can't be used on a VDI Environment, right? It always says "Outlook is not running". On a Notebook it works fine, but we can't reproduce the issue there. To your questions: 1. Do any other users in your organization encounter the same problem? yes 2. Does this problem occur when your user sends emails without attachments? no 3. How large is the attachment? What type of attachment does your user send? in most cases it's a pdf. Not larger than 100 kb 4. How large is your user’s mailbox? 250 MB 5. Does the recipient receive the email with attachment? If you open the Outlook client after it crashes, can you find this email? Is it located in Draft or Sent items? E-Mail stays in draft and can be send.
Safe mode was one of the first things I tried. I also tried to start Outlook with /cleanviews, /resetfolders, /cleanrules and all other options. The users have no pst file. Can you successfully send the emails with attachments in the Web mail app? Yes, this works. What’s the subscription of your Office 365 tenant? We have Office 365 Enterprise E3.
Hi DoRe23, Thanks for your detailed information. Based on my research, the issue is usually caused by a corrupt or damaged Outlook profile or a corrupt Personal Data File (PST) or Offline Data File (OST). Have you already tried the SCANPST tool as I mentioned above? If a user add an account to Outlook, Outlook will generate an OST file, you can use the SCANPST tool to repair it and check if the issue persists. For your reference: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Repair-Outlook-Data-Files-pst-and-ost-25663bc3-11ec-4412-86c4-60458afc5253?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US&fromAR=1%20 Regards, Huni
Hi DoRe23, For this issue, I need some time to do research and consult. I'll be back in 3 days. Regards, Huni
Hi DoRe23, To verify whether this issue is caused by some anti-spam add-ins, I suggest you try to start Outlook in safe mode and check if the issue persists. Quit Outlook > Press Win + R > Type outlook /safe and press Enter to start Outlook. If it doesn’t work, you can try using the SCANPST tool to repair your Outlook data file and see if it can be helpful. Meanwhile, to better help you, I’d like to collect some detailed information as below: Can you successfully send the emails with attachments in the Web mail app? What’s the subscription of your Office 365 tenant? Regards, Huni

Programs Crash, error: Fault module kernelbase.dll . Application crash
I have several programs that seems to be in some conflict with kernelbase.dll. They crash the moment I start them and kernelbase.dll is the fault module. I've tried installing windows twice but the problem persist. I've tried running in 'clean boot'. I've tried 'Windows Resource Protection' I've tried running the program in different compatability states. Nothing helps. Any ideas? The error message is pasted below: Description: Stopped working Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: MDataTools.exe Application Version: 2.0.758.0 Application Timestamp: 4b210990 Fault Module Name: KERNELBASE.dll Fault Module Version: 6.1.7600.16385 Fault Module Timestamp: 4a5bdaae Exception Code: e0434f4d Exception Offset: 00009617 OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.48 Locale ID: 1044
I'm seeing this all over the internet on all kinds of apps and no solution for any of them. I had the same problem with a custom VB.Net application, framework 2 running on Windows 2008 x64. Compiling for x64, x86, or Any CPU didn't work, neither did re-adding the Excel COM object or other resources or setting the compatibility mode, or any of another half dozen things I tried. Finally, I set the .exe file properties to "Run as Administrator" and wallah - everything runs great! I suspect there are embedded security or other settings that are the ultimate cause.
I guess you have answered it yourself. User Profile corruption. Log in as a different User. rename the problem profile. Log in as the original user again. A new profile will get created. If the crash is gone, copy your over your user data from the corrupted one. If it does not solve the issue. Repeat steps with default folder too. This is the template profile, when creating new profiles. regards Martin

My IE 8 and 9 kept crashing when using hotmail. It was annoying!! Until I figured out that it only crashes on all silverlight websites... Uninstall and reinstall. Bingo problem solved....

I have a similar problem. I am running Windows 7 (x64) and the problem is occurring with Outlook 2007. The problem just started happening (since March 25, 2010 or later). I have tried uninstalling some optional patches, I made on March 30th, but that didn't work. Outlook 2007 just keep s crashing within 60 seconds of boot-up. I had it running yesterday for about 1 hour without problems, after I uninstalled a bunch of optional patches. But today I am right back to step one. I have run SCANPST on my Outlook file 3 times and found errors after the crashes. But it doesn't solve the problem either. Outlook Crashes with kernelbase.dll
Dear Microsoft Community We have a Problem with Outlook (Office 365). Outlook crashes 3-4 times in a week by only 1 user with the faulting module kernelbase.dll This is what we tried until now: - New Outlook Profile - Disable Add-Ins - New Windows User Profile - New Notebook (A new Notebook which is new staged) - DISM /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth (It was everything ok) Here is the Event-Log error: Faulting application name: OUTLOOK.EXE, version: 16.0.9126.2282, time stamp: 0x5b9064e4 Faulting module name: KERNELBASE.dll, version: 10.0.16299.611, time stamp: 0x966d0f68 Exception code: 0xe0434352 Fault offset: 0x00104172 Faulting process id: 0x3088 Faulting application start time: 0x01d456e92fdbe153 Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\Office16\OUTLOOK.EXE Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\System32\KERNELBASE.dll Report Id: 80bba02e-d4c1-4df3-a144-47be2feb2f90 Faulting package full name:

Hi Kuster, If you have any progress on this issue, feel free to share with us in the post. Regards, Marvin
I updated the Office now. I'm waiting for the response of the user now. Problem occurs just 3-4 times a week. Sometimes 4-5 times in about only 10 minutes. I'll let you know if i have a feedback of the user. Thank you
Assuming an exchange mail account then run the support and recovery assistant, to see what it finds https://diagnostics.office.com/#/ You also need to state what Com Add-ins are shown, whether active or not
Hi Kuster, Since the version of Outlook client is not the latest version, please update it at first. You can check Office update history to find the latest version in relative channel. Besides, if it's an Office 365 account, please try to download and run Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant to help you check the issue. Since the issue only happens to one user, I'd like to collect the following information for the further analysis. 1. Before Outlook crashes, what are the user trying to do? Are there any triggers? 2. Is there any error message when Outlook crashes? If so, please capture a screenshot for us. 3. If you shot down all the other applications, will the issue persist? Regards, Marvin
I think updating O365 Apps did it. Outlook was not crashing anymore until today. The problem should be solved.
module kernelbase.dll, asset offset 00013F62 error While installing WIndows 7 Service Pack 1.
Original title: module kernelbase.dll, asset offset 00013F62 I have some errors after the instalation of Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1. All refer to ""Windows explorer encountered a validation error", and then follows stuff like process name iexplorer. exe, module kernelbase.dll, asset offset 00013F62, or module mshtml.dll, asset offset 008BE823, or shlwapi.dll, 0061281. Anyone knows what the problem may be?
Hi, 1. Are you facing this issue with other updates as well? Try the Methods provided below and check if the issue persists. Method 1: Try to install the service pack 1 in clean boot state and check if that helps. Performing clean boot state helps in identifying if any third party applications or startup items are causing the issue. If yes, you may have to contact the program manufacturer for any updates or uninstall and re-install the program. Refer the following Microsoft KB article for more information on how to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7: How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 Note : After troubleshooting, make sure to put the computer to start as usual as mentioned in Step 7 from the above KB article. Method 2: Try the troubleshooting steps provided in the link below. Troubleshoot problems installing a service pack for Windows 7 or Windo
* Help! Can't start the program because Kernelbase.dll is missing! *
I can't run any other program after I've updated window 7 64-bit based system; for now I could only run internet explorer. It was worse before I run CHKDSK /R, because before it all the services can't run even explorer.exe. ------- Everytime I try to run a program, a message pop up "The program can't start because Kernelbase.dll is missing." System restore won't even run. :(
Thanks. I did a full system restore using the win 7 dvd instead as you told me, because I can't run anything other than the internet explorer. I also don't want to download one of those dll from a website, since it might mess up my computer more. Thanks again.
If you have the win 7 dvd you can do a repair install. I would also suggest that you run a malware scan using Malwarebytes just in case. Please download the free version of Malwarebytes. Update it immediately. Do a full system scan Let us know the results at the end. http://www.malwarebytes.org/products

Hi Niraj, KernelBase.dll is an API client DLL to help launch .exe applications. When it is corrupt, you will get missing or not found DLL error when you try to start your programs. The file associated with KernelBase.dll is the DLL kernel32, any damage to any one of them will result in application crashing problems. Method 1: Run the System File Checker tool The sfc /scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions. When the scan is complete, the System File Checker tool indicates whether integrity violations were found. If integrity violations are found, the System File Checker tool lets you fix the integrity violations Hope this helps. Please post back with the status of the issue and we will be glad to assist you further.
I am wondering if you could help me with a similar issue, only with IE. I did the SFC/scannow and it repaired files, but when it re-booted I could not see any text and the icons were so small i could not see them, the screen also would go black when I moved the cursor. I was able to restore the computer back to working order, but IE still gives me the same error. I suspect that I have some bad OS files. Is there a way to repair those without re-installing windows. I have a Dell re-installation cd that came with the computer, but it does not seem to have a repair tool that works.

Hello Simon, For a better understanding, we’d like to know when the Skype for Business client crash. When you open the Skype for Business client or when you want to send instant message to others? Based on the OffCAT result, we can see your Skype for Business client version is 16.0.4645.1000. It’s not the latest version. Could you try updating it and check if the problem still persists? Meanwhile, we’d like to know where you downloaded the Office 365 applications. From Office 365 Portal or any other place? Regards, Barry
Hi Simon, Any updates? Regards, Rick
'kernelbase.dll' has caused my applications to stop working.
Hi there, I'm having a problem here with kernelbase.dll... it made some of my applications stopped working.... everytime I run the program like toshiba bulletin board, toshiba blu-ray disc player, toshiba reeltime, a window saying," (example) program has stopped working", windows is checking online for the solution but with no results..... It looks like the apps crashed... I tried to reinstall them.. but again with nothing more but failure... I have also tried to use some free registry cleaner software but again it's not an answer to my problem... I've seen some people also encounter this problem....system restore, re-installing are also not the answer for this problem...., I just bought my laptop, Toshiba Qosmio F750, few months ago, and I encounter with this kind of problem which I think it's not a simple problem... can anyone help me? original title: APPCRASH KERNELBASE.dll error
Thank you for replying my question...I use norton antivirus.... I've run the clean boot but i didn't help.... I tried to reregister the kernelbase.dll....it said," the module "kernelbase.dll" was loaded but the entry point Dllregisterserver was not found. Make sure that "kernelbase.dll" is a valid DLL or OCX file and then try again." And just now I tried a system restore to 3 days ago... It failed... As something in "temp" folder can't be found.... What is happening exactly? Can sytem recovery solve the problem?

Hi Sandeep V, Thanks again for replying... but it's not helping =(
Hi, May I know the Anti-virus software you are using? Lets check if any program is causing th error message. To find out, lets perform clean boot process: How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7 http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/929135 Note: When you perform a clean boot, you may temporarily lose some functionality. When you start the computer as usual, the functionality returns. However, you may receive the original error message, or you may experience the original behavior . You can try the following steps and see if it helps. Step 1: You can try reregistering kernelbase.dll and check. a. Click Start and type cmd in start search . Right click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator. b. Type " regsvr32 KERNELBASE.dll " without the quotes and Press Enter. c. Restart your computer and check. Step 2:System File Checker [SFC] If still you are facing the issue, then you can try running a System File Checker [SFC] scan o
Hi again, I'm not sure when it started, but I think this month... I've tried system restore but the earliest restore point i had is on 11 august 2012... and it failed as you can see in the pic I attached here http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-debugging/246531-appcrash-kernelbase-dll-error.html#post2050684 and about the instructions in this link http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-debugging/154890-regsvr32-error.html I want to follow it, but I don't understand... is this problem so serious that I have to use Toshiba Recovery Wizard? I am seriously frustrated... but I'm afraid the recovery won't help either =( please help me Thank you.
Hi, What is the complete error message? Does the error message includes a path for the missing KERNELBASE.DLL? Does Internet Explorer functions normally? What Version of IE? Does the PC Blue Screen or just display an error message? If you have the Windows 7 DVD, try startup repair: What are the system recovery options in Windows 7? http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/What-are-the-system-recovery-options-in-Windows-7 Hope it helps.
Hi Sandeep V, Please help me by looking for the details of my problem here... http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-debugging/246531-appcrash-kernelbase-dll-error.html#post2050684 I don't know how to attach it here... The internet explorer works very well and the PC did Blue Screen... once... but I think it was before the problem occurred... By the way, I don't have the windows 7 dvd... and I'm thinking of using Toshiba Recovery Wizard.. but I'm afraid it will fail... that's why I'm still trying to solve this without the need of returning it to the "out-of-box" condition.... by the way, I found a similar thread which was posted in Windows 7 forum about registering the kernelbase.dll... and it was solved... but I don't understand... can you have a look into it? http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-debugging/154890-regsvr32-error.html Thank you very much Sandeep V, I really appreciate your help... =D
Hi, When did this issue start occurring? Did you try following all the instructions int he links you had provided? I would recommend that you do System restore to before the issue began: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/features/system-restore Hope it helps
by the way, I just tried the System File Checker too... however, after the verification is complete... it says," windows resource protection did not find any integrity violations". now I think the cause of the problem is either registry (KERNELBASE.dll) or some files in appdata\local\tempt\... are missing...

Hi, Are you able to install\access other programs on your computer? KernelBase.dll is statically linked to the Dll Files, this means that when KernelBase.dll is loaded, the above files are automatically loaded too. If one of these files is corrupted or missing, KernelBase.dll won't be loaded. This issue is caused due to iTunes files are corrupted or due to settings. Hi, Thank you for the update. Did you check if there is any latest update\patches for iTunes? I would suggest you to perform a sfc scan and check. The sfc /scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions. Steps to perform a SFC scan: a) Click Start , click All Programs , click Accessories , right-click Command Prompt , and then click Run as administrator . If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow b) Type the following command, and then press ENTER: sfc /scannow After the scan has completed, close the command prompt window, restart the computer and check. I had this a week ago. I ran: DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth and the issue disappeared on all 3 computers of mine. It started to happen today after the latest windows update. And it happens on all computers previously upgraded from Windows 7 and from Windows 8.1. Some accounts were local, others were Microsoft Accounts. I am really not sure recreating accounts will help. Nor do I have bandwidth to fix such issues this way. How come all of them have become broken overnight?
I'm reproducing this on Windows 10 Pro N, English. Hi, Thank you for being a part of Windows 10 Technical Preview testing. 1. Does the issue occur only with the mail app? 2. Are you facing this issue after upgrading to the latest build 10130? If you are facing this issue after upgrading to the latest Build, then Mail app may crash due to a memory error, and may not synch mail when in the background. We plan to service this issue with an update via Windows Update. Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any other issues with Windows in future.

The issue mostly happens when playing games such as csgo, there will be no performance problems then the computer restarts. The issue has been going on for about 2 weeks now. I reinstalled my graphics drivers to see if this would fix anything but it didnt.

Hello Sajin7, Often we see crashes as the result of a program loading on startup. To resolve these, we use clean boot troubleshooting. The following article describes this process: How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7 If this does not help, then the best route to support would be through call of duty: black ops support. Their web page is: http://www.callofduty.com/blackops?path=blackops Best regards, Matthew_Ha

The faulting module from the latest error is the ntdll.dll which is a component of Windows. However another, possibly third party. module may actually be causing the crash. At this point I would recommend to try to capture a user-mode dump of the iexplore.exe crash to get more information on the crash and to see if a third party module is causing the crash. You can configure Windows to create user-mode dumps. Create a System Restore Point first. If you copy and paste the following in Notepad and save as a .reg file, then right-click the .reg file and select "Merge" to add to the registry, a .dmp file at the time iexplore.exe crashes should be created in the C:\CrashDumps folder: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps\iexplore.exe] "DumpFolder"=hex(2):43,00,3a,00,5c,00,43,00,72,00,61,00,73,00,68,00,44,00,75,\ 00,6d,00,70,00,73,00,00,00 After Internet Explorer (iexplore.exe) crashes, can you then make the .dm

Hi After following the above suggestion IE was more stable, no random crashes. But today i had 2 crashes whilst editing my website. Me server is with one.com and they use ilosoft webcomposer. Word was open as well. I disabled robo form extension and exited the program so that i was not running at all. The only other add on is Adobe Shockwave Flash Previously there were a few crashes, when just browsing for example. This has stopped. Now it only crashes when editing my website..... Can you update RoboForm to the latest version (7.9.0.0): http://www.roboform.com/download If the problem persists try the following: IE > Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > remove the checkmark in front of "Enable third party browser extensions " > OK then restart IE. If that does not help you can re-enable third party browser extensions . If it does help, you would have to track down the third party browser extension causing the problem.
That sounds good. To follow up on the added registry key, you can delete the C:\CrashDumps folder anytime. You can leave the added registry key intact as it may come in handy if another crash occurs. However you can delete it anytime if you wish. You can run the following .reg file to delete: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps\iexplore.exe ]

PowerPoint 2013 crashes with kernelbase.dll error (Windows 7)
We own 8 HP ProBook 4530s laptops with Windows 7. We have Office 13 installed. We have a PowerPoint crash issue with all of them that we cannot resolve. They crash during PowerPoint presentations with a kernelbase.dll error. I have tried every solution I can find on the web to no avail. here is what I have tried: 1) turned off the bluetooth add-in and still crashes 2) run powerpoint after starting windows in clear boot and still crashes 3) ensured display/graphics drivers are correct and up to date and it still crashes 4) reformatted the computers and installed windows and office without any other software and it still crashes 5) run in PowerPoint safe mode and it does not crash Any ideas?
That is one of the things we already have done. All add-ins including the blueooth add-in are turned off. We still have the issue.
Hello Brent, Since PowerPoint works as expected in application safe, you may try the following steps and verify the status. Open PowerPoint, Click on File , Options , Add-ins , and Click on ‘ GO ’ beside Manage – COM Add-ins and uncheck all the add-ins and click OK I hope the above information helps. Let us know if you need further assistance. Thank you.
I did some more experimenting with the following scenarios on different computers amongst the 8 we own: 1) On one I uninstalled office 2013 and installed Office 2010. A PowerPoint presentation has ran without crashing for the last 21 hrs. 2) on another I have run a presentation on PowerPoint 2013 in Safe Mode. It has not crashed for 22 hours. I have now tried this successfully on two of the computers. 3) Interestingly on a thrid computer I installed Windows 7 and did not run Windows Update. I then installed Office 2013. I have had a PowerPoint presentation running for the past 14 hours without a crash. This makes the updates to Windows suspect in causing the crashes. Being there are a few hundred updates, any recommends on narrowing down which one could be causing the problem?
Hello Brent, Thank you for your reply. The best option to narrow down the issue would be the trial and error method which is to download one update and then start the application and check if it works fine. I hope the above information helps. Let us know if you need further assistance. Thank you.
APPCRASH - KERNELBASE.dll
Since an update in Feb this year my Corel Video Studio Pro x5 has stopped working. (Error message below) At first a simple restore fixed it, but of course the updates happened again and the same problem. I have uninstalled all updates and downloads since that time since I had no idea which one was causing this problem all of a sudden...but 4 MONTHS ON AND IT'S STILL NOT WORKING! SAME ERROR MESSAGE. Since all I use my laptop for is editing, I really need to fix this ASAP. Any help/solutions would be greatly appreciated. I have five IE browsers open, but took me many attempts. Now, clicking on the two suggested links you provide, I keep getting this fault info...and most other times trying to open a new window. Appreciate some help troubleshooting without clicking on a site page. Hi, Thanks for the update on the issue. I would suggest you to boot the computer in safe mode and then try to run SFC scan and see if it helps you to repair the system file corruption if they are present. For booting up the computer in safe mode refer to the article mentioned below. Advanced startup options (including safe mode) Do keep us updated. Regards,
First, thanks for reply and info to you and Neha. Had mentioned before, I did the SFC scan and did it again...but the info in the CBS log, I was not allowed to view. So, just went back to Restore of June 3 and browsers working. It must have been an update...so not doing anymore. Just trying to justify soon, what is ramification getting the Windows 10 upgrade before July 29th. Sad thing is, everyone that has 7 or 8 tried it and either kept it and Hates it, or went back to 7 or 8 and will suffer with NO support. As usual, MS really doesn't care about the regular person, it is big business only. There is no reason to do away with MSE and others say the Defender does not do good job. And having to lose all the gadgets on desk top seems very unprofessional. Seems like if Bill Gates would get out of his ivory tower and step down to our level and see what he is paying people to do...he might take a deep breath and say, some things don't need to be changed, just improved. Hi, With the issue description, I understand that Corel Visual Studio Pro X5 stopped working and you get an error: KERNELBASE.dll on your Windows 7 machine. I will certainly help you in getting this issue fixed. I would appreciate if you could help me with more information: Is this issue specific to this particular application or do you face any similar/related issue with any other application? This issue might occur due to corruption in system/program files. Let’s follow below mentioned steps and check if that helps: Method 1 : Run the System File Checker tool (SFC.exe) System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files. It will scan your system files and to repair missing or corrupted system files in Windows. Is there an update from Windows Update that affects KernelBase.dll?
I would only like to know if there is any update from Windows Update that affects KernelBase.dll. After installing Windows 7 without running Windows Update yet, all works fine, but after running Windows Update, a program starts to crash due to a fault with this DLL. I re-installed Windows 7 and all works fine again until I run Windows Update. For the second time, after running Windows Update, the program crashes. I re-installed Windows 7 again and all works fine, but I am reluctant to run Windows Update because, else, the program will start to crash. I only want to know which update is linked to KernelBase.dll and causing this problem.
Hi, 1) Which program crashes after you install Windows Update? 2) Is the issue specific to the program? Generally all system update which has the importance status of ‘critical’ would update ‘kernelbase.dll’ file. Almost all the programs use this module. If you experience the issue with specific programs then the reason could be due to program not being compatibility.
Getting Error while running application: Faulting module name: KERNELBASE.dll
I am trying to run a program ( DEEPSOIL v6.0), but every time it fails to lunch and two errors appear on event viewer that I bring it at the end. First I thought it happens because of Microsoft .net framework but I have tried to remove and reinstall it but it didn’t work. Don’t know what’s wrong with my system operation because I could run this program properly two months ago. Please help me to find a solution. Log Name: Application Source:
Hi, First of all, I would like to apologize for the delay in responding. If this issue is confined to the program "DEEPSOIL v6.0" then I suggest you to post the same question in MSDN forum. We have a dedicated team with advanced tools and permissions to troubleshoot this type of issues. http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/vstudio/en-US/home?forum=vbgeneral Please feel free to visit our website for any help with Windows Operating System.
You need to contact the developer. The app is so proprietary that only they can answer why it is failing or even if it is compatible
Thanks for your reply. I have win8.1 pro with latest update on my laptop. based on what I got from developer its completely compatible with win8.1 and I confirm it because I have tried on there computer with win8.1 OS it works properly. my last option would be installing fresh version of win8.1 but I wouldn't do that unless I have no available option(S).

Although the error points to the Kernelbase.dll another module may actually be causing the crash. Can you download and run the following application (AppCrashView): http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/app_crash_view.html Click on one of the recent Prepar3D.exe errors. Can you copy and paste the information that appears in the lower window that has loaded modules. Can you do the same for a couple more of the programs giving the error.

Hi CW001, Corrupted application may be one of the possible cause why your OneDrive crashes. To efficiently assist you, I'd like to know if you've tried uninstalling then reinstall or resetting OneDrive. To troubleshoot your concern, I recommend that you reset your OneDrive by following these steps: Press the Windows key + R . In the Run window, enter: %localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\onedrive.exe /reset and click OK . Make sure the OneDrive icon in the notification area of the taskbar disappears and then re-appears after a minute or two. Here’s how to check: Right-click the white OneDrive cloud icon in the notification area, at the far right of the taskbar . If the OneDrive icon doesn’t re-appear after a few minutes, open the Run window again and enter: %localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\onedrive.exe. Keep us posted if you need additional help.

I am getting the same 2 errors while running a game. So, I tried the 1st method and the results came back as follows: "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them" How should I fix them all? Thank you.
whilst my own issue is un-related to the atlantis software (obv seeing as I'm not running it) my own identical report from this kernelbase.dll still persisted. In the absence of any further contributions on here & that I really did need to press on I followed my own suspicions & clean installed windows 10 64. This instantly resolved my hang on start issue & this kernelbase.dll report also vanished. I did have a merry dance on finding 3 or 4 drivers (broadcoam device, mass storage, something about an O2 cardreader & unknown device which turned out to be an accelerometer to lock to drive heads if the machine takes a sudden knock) but I nailed them all in the end. Obv the ones in your XPS might be different, but should you encounter issues reply on this thread (yes I know that's poor form but it's the only way I'll see it) & I'll help as much as I am able to. It would appear to be a dell thing. Incidentally my clean install removed all the dell applications as well. I did use their scan &
I'm posting here because I curiously also have a Dell with a very recent issue. M4600 i7 dual core, 8GB ram with the ati firecard. The issue is the hang at start (from power down) one, which oddly doesn't happen again if you force a subsequent restart using the dell's own power button. But it always now hangs from cold start. It didn't.. Ran this as a clean install for win7 64 pro, all the updates & drivers all present & correct. And then used the MS upgrade path. Issue only happened after this vsn & build went in 2 days ago. I rolled it back using system restore-all fine. Then the blasted thing updated again. So finger points to this specific build. Sami, how exactly did you choose to install win10 on your Dell please? However-the sfc /scannow did report errors & then fixed them. None found after restart & scan again. Identical response to the OP using the regsvr32 KERNELBASE.dll option. The start hang issue is still presenting. Further detail. I've been running win10x64 in another ne
hi there I am having similar issues but after doing a scan it is telling me I'm missing runtime dll and systemsettings.exe file and diskwiper.exe ,, Microsoft.exe file and perfib, perfnet, contextmenumanager.exe, frontend.exe, nbamservice.exe, rtop_ svc.exe file and quite a few others since downloading windows 10. infact I'm totally fed up with win 10 its coursed so many issues on my ACER ASPIRE 7551 THAT IM LITERALY CONSIDERING BINNING THE LAPTOP COMPLETLY. Although windows log report the error in KERNELBASE.dll I have finally managed to run Artlantis license manager by changing my screen resolution from UHD to Full HD. But I still have the error message when I try to re-register kernelbase.dll that says; "The module KERNELBASE.dll was loaded but the enrty-point DllregisterServer was not found" Make sure that KERNELBASE.dll is a valid DLL or OCX file then try again.
I am still hoping someone could help me with this issue.. I still can not activate the software (Artlantis Studio 6) using Artlantis License Manager. I have tried both methods suggested above. Method 1 : System File checker (SFC) The system did not find anything wrong. Method 2 : Re-registering kernelbase.dll but I got this error message: "The module KERNELBASE.dll was loaded but the enrty-point DllregisterServer was not found" Make sure that KERNELBASE.dll is a valid DLL or OCX file then try again. Now I am hoping for a fix to the error message in method 2 and my original issue. The painful thing is that the software works fine on other machines and windows versions but not mine.
Is kernelbase.dll ONLY for Win 7 and up?
On my Vista 32 bit I recently had a program crashing when I run it with can't find kernelbase.dll. I have been living on the Internet the last 5 days trying to find an answer. Ergo, the question here: Does kernelbase.dll also work on Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit and if so, where can I get a copy? If it does not run on Vista then please direct me to a source that states this? {Start blah blah blah} The program that crashes is uPlay. This is a interface used by end users to launch their video games sold by UbiSoft. If the interface fails, one cannot launch their game not even off-line. I have loaded and played the game many times. With no software updates of any kind (also Microsoft dropped Vista), and no system changes from one moment to another, the next launch of uPlay failed with the cannot find kernelbase.dll. I have spent two weeks giving the ticket support people every task they set me to do in providing data, repairs, and updates to the computer they required, and now, have

How can I login as a different user? Here you go: Click the Start globe. Click the arrow point to the left of "Shut down". Click "Log off". About your other questions: I suspect that the place where you found these items is a lot more specific. It would help if you posted the respective link.

Hi, Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community. A quick question before we proceed. Do you have Norton Internet Security installed? If yes try to uninstall and check if it helps. Also search for file buShell.dll and try to delete it and check if it helps. Hope this helps. If issue persists, please reply with information for further assistance. We will be happy to help. Thank you.
Running sfc/scannow found corrupt files and successfully repaired them. After rebooting Explorer worked normally. In this case it logged the following in %windir%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log Info CSI 0000546e [SR] Repairing corrupted file \??\C:\WINDOWS\fonts\YuGothM.ttc from store It started misbehaving after an apparent power glitch restarted my computer.
I believe in magic. After many days work (some with Tech. Support), suddenly file Manager was working from the icon. I have to assume there was something in one of the updates. Please don't "undo".
I don't have /never had Norton installed. I uninstalled Karpesky (sp??) and installed a free version of AVG. Neither helped. I searched for buShell.dll but did not find it. File Manager still doesn't work on that machine (even though it works fine on my Toshiba laptop that has the same programs). If you have other suggestions, I will follow them. PS I have run sfc/scannow and got the message that there were corrupt files it couldn't fix. I have the cbs.log file and can send it if you tell me how to do that. Thanks for helping.

Unable to run certain program, getting KERNELBASE.dll problem
Hi, got an unusual problem on a piece of software which normally runs just fine. When started it just crashes and comes up with a message: program encountered a problem and needs to close?! Brand new machines with .NET Framework 4.0 Any help will be much appreciated! Eventviewer info: Faulting application name: 2CQRConvert.exe, version: 1.3.2.2, time stamp: 0x4d595fb9 Faulting module name: KERNELBASE.dll, version: 6.1.7600.16385, time stamp: 0x4a5bdaae Exception code: 0xe0434f4d Fault offset: 0x00009617 Faulting process id: 0xac8 Faulting application start time: 0x01cc2b5d15ff9591 Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\2CQR\2CQRConvert.exe Faulting module path: C:\Windows\system32\KERNELBASE.dll Report Id: 571a7c37-9750-11e0-bb37-cc52af203774
2cqrconvert is a programme for writing RFID tags. The installation itself consists of pasting the programme folder in Program Files. We've used it many times before, on machines running XP as well as Windows 7. All that it normally requires is a .NET Framework installed and C++ Visual package ...
In any win7 installation the Program files folder is reserved for 64bit programs The Program Files (x86) Folder is reserved for 32 bit programs. If the program is a 16bit program it wont run on win7 64bit
Problem solved !!! It turned out the licence was wrong. But instead of coming up with a message related to that specific problem the programme just crashed - the licencing process used .NET ! Applying the correct licence file did the trick !!! Thanks for trying to help Palcouk!
Did this software run previously on a win7 64 bit system?
The Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\2CQR\2CQRConvert.exe indicates a win7 64 bit system, a win7 32bit system should have installed to;- C:\Program Files (x86)\2CQR\2CQRConvert.exe unless you performed a custom install to the wrong folder, or perhaps the installation procedure was badly coded. What exactly is the program as 2CQR could be one of several things
No, as far as I am aware. Do you think that is the problem? I don't think that is a 64bit system? If it is, any way I can get it going? I tried running the software as administrator, in compatibility mode, verify the .net installation, etc. but to no avail. Any advice is welcome. Many thanks,
explorer.exe crashes - kernelbase.dll - please help
Guys, I've tried a lot of things to resolve this, but I'm no closer. Can I upload a dump file for analysis please?
We do need the actual log files (called a DMP files) as they contain the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible. Please follow our instructions for finding and uploading the files we need to help you fix your computer. They can be found here If you have any questions about the procedure please ask

Windows 10 Application crash (Kernelbase.dll)
Hi, so my PC crashed this evening which is normally fine except it appears to have corrupted a system application called KERNELBASE.DLL. I now get the following error every time I try to open one of my applications: Faulting application name: NordVPN.exe, version: 6.8.10.0, time stamp: 0x5a01bb70 Faulting module name: KERNELBASE.dll, version: 10.0.15063.674, time stamp: 0x93d2100b Exception code: 0xe0434352 Fault offset: 0x0000000000069e08 Faulting process ID: 0x35c0 Faulting application start time: 0x01d35cb3d0249930 Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\NordVPN\NordVPN.exe Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\System32\KERNELBASE.dll Report ID: 437c5d0d-babc-47d4-8aed-f74efb709a14 Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID: and this on a second application: Faulting application name: nvtray.exe, version: 7.17.13.8205, time stamp: 0x590793de Faulting module name: KERNELBASE.dll, version: 10.0.15063.674, time stamp: 0x93d2100b Exception code: 0xc06d007
The KernelBase.DLL is a core system file that should NOT be deleted. Windows 10 has a built in utility called DISM which can be used for health checking and restoration amongst other things. Please note that I am not responsible for any harm that may befall your system by using the following commands. Open CMD Prompt as an Administrator (Start > Windows System > CMD > Right Click > Run as Administrator) Type or Copy and Paste without the quotes - " DISM /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth " This will check your C:\Windows folder for any kind of corruption and inform you if it detects any If you receive a message along the lines of component store corruption detected run the following command in the same Administrative CMD Prompt - " DISM /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth " - This command will attempt to repair any of the corrupted system files using your recovery partition and I believe Windows Update also. Let us know how you get on.
Hi Robert, I'm afraid this is an issue with KERNELBASE.DLL and not the applications themselves. Essentially, I have multiple broken applications that won't start at all and the one connecting reason is KERNELBASE.DLL. In this case, sending logs to NORDVPN is not going to resolve my issue. I'm also trying to find a way to create a Microsoft support ticket for this but finding this area is proving tricky.
sending logs to NORDVPN is not going to resolve my issue. Try it anyway. They will know their code better than we do. https://stackoverflow.com/questions/14711633/my-c-sharp-application-is-returning-0xe0434352-to-windows-task-scheduler-but-it (BING search for kernelbase CCR ) Another option is to simply use the Application log accessible via the Windows Event Viewer. The .Net error will be recorded to the Application log.
Hint: use charmap to see what the exception code means.

Server Manager Stops Working After October Updates, Faulting Module KernelBase.dll
From Event Log: Faulting application name: ServerManager.exe, version: 6.3.9600.17238 Faulting module name: KERNELBASE.dll, version: 6.3.9600.18666 October updates were for 2012 & 2012 R2 servers.and Windows 10 Workstations. Some 2012 R2 servers can still run Server Manager but most cannot. This is spread across multiple VMHosts. All drivers are current. DISM and SFC have both been tried. Some servers had multiple servers added to S/M but others only had the local machine. Only one Windows 10 machine still has a working implementation of Server Manager. The user states they have six (6) servers added (under All Servers) We had the thought that maybe there is one certain server that, if added to Server Manager's list of servers, kills the application. But even if we do find this machine, how would we remove it from Server Manager's list (it crashes on opening)?

NtQueryMultipleValueKey could not be located KERNELBASE.dll
Hi, I recently started to get the following message when I initiate Windows as well as every time I try to install a new software, which then stops from running. "The Procedure entry point NtQueryMultipleValueKey could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\WINDOWS\System32\KERNELBASE.dll" I suspect a virus infection, and my AVG AV disappeared. I can't initiate the program control panel, not install any AV software, not any other software for that matter. How can I resolve this issue? Thanks, Rafi ***Post moved by the Forum Moderator to the appropriate forum category.***
HI, Thanks for your reply, The only thing I installed was three months ago, a new version of office. I can't remember exactly but I'm fairly sure that my AV software was still active since. The issues started about a week ago. I tried installing a different AV system but the issue/virus stops it from being initiated throwing the error mentioned above. Thanks, Rafi
A possible reason why you're getting the said error message could be corrupted system files. We recommend that you perform the System File Checker (SFC) scan and run the Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) tool to check the PC for any corrupted system files. For steps and more information regarding SFC and DISM, check this Wiki Article by ZigZag3143 (MS-MVP ). Post back with the status of the issue. We will be glad to assist you further.
Hi Rafi, To understand what's causing the error you're getting, may we know if there were any changes made on your computer prior to this concern? Did you install any Windows/Office Updates or any third-party software? Get back to us with the required information to assist you further.
HI, Thank you for your help. a couple of days ago the system had a scheduled update from Microsoft and that seemed to resolve the issue. The files now behave correctly and the message does not appear anymore. Thanks a lot, Rafi
PowerPoint crashes with KERNELBASE.dll (Windows 8.1)
I was using all Office apps very smoothly, then yesterday I installed Visual Studio 13, then uninstalled it because it took me too long. Hello, Thank you for posting on Microsoft Community. In order to resolve you may try opening the application in the Safe Mode and check if you are able to click on File and access the backstage view without crashing the application. Try the steps from the following Microsoft link to open PowerPoint 2013 in the Safe Mode and check if you can access the File tab. http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/support/why-cant-i-start-my-office-2013-application-HA104011864.aspx In case you are able to access the File tab fine without the application crashing, then you may follow the next set of steps to troubleshoot COM Add-Ins in PowerPoint 2013 to resolve the issue. Try the above steps and let us know the result. Thank you.
I have tried it all, nothing worked ! Uncheck all add-ins, run in safe mode, everything, but still crash ! What do I have to do ?
My laptop is now on system restore. Just waiting for it to complete :(
Have you tried a system resore to before you installed VS 2013? Or maybe a repair of Office.

Diana, Thanks for your reply. I will ask in MSDM forums and hopefully I will solve my problems. Thanks again, Polys
Hi Polys, • Which program is causing this issue? Some legitimate applications require a full administrator access token to perform their functions or tasks. The User Account Control (UAC) message is displayed to request consent or credentials to allow an application to use the full administrator access token in any of the following circumstances: • The application developer marked the application to require an administrator access token. This is done by using a development technique known as an embedded manifest. • UAC detected that the application is an installer or setup application. (Automatic detection can be disabled by using Group Policy.) • Microsoft analyzed the application and provided an application compatibility shim. A shim is a small amount of extra code provided by Microsoft that supports certain non-Microsoft applications. • An administrator configured the application compatibility settings on the application's Program Properties page. • An interactive user right-clicked

Diana Thanks for your reply and I apologise I couldn't get back to you sooner. The program that is causing this issue is one that I am developing and I am not quite sure what to write in the manifest file so normal users can run the program. I found there are three possible requested execution levels, asInvoker, highestAvailable and requireAdministrator (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb756929.aspx). The level that I need to use is asInvoker so that normal users can run the application. However, the application won't run and the error that i mentioned earlier is displayed. In Windows XP, the application doesn't run when logged in as a normal user and no error is displayed. Is there anything else that might be related with this problem other than the manifest file? Thanks in advance, Polys
